New thread for park runners old and new. Who's running at home and away this weekend? Who's volunteering?

8th at SA is great for us. DS will be 9 the day before, wants to run his 'birthday parkrun' at SA (in his 10th Anniversary parkrun t-shirt that he has asked for as a present) and we will have cake :)

Ohone - my poor legs are complaining a lot today too as did parkrun on Sat, 10 miles yesterday morning (last long run before Luton half) and then went out walking in the hills with the family in the afternoon Shock I may not make it to running club tonight.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 13/10/2014 19:45

Excellent feet it's a date Smile

I'm not to sore today, but my legs felt a bit heavy biking to the station this morning.

Friday means one more sleep to Parkrun. Whoop!

feetheart · 17/10/2014 14:27

HalleLouja - you at SA tomorrow?

HalleLouja · 17/10/2014 14:55

Should be if all goes to plan...

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 17/10/2014 18:47

Do we have any Edinburgh park runners among us? I am plotting some more tourism in November. In fact it's looking like a Blathers kinda month, as I will be "away" three out of five possible parkrundays Smile

But no park run tomorrow, as I am on a course all day.

OP posts:
cinnamongreyhound · 17/10/2014 18:50

Boo to courses!!

I'm timekeeping tomorrow for my new rd that I've trained as its her first Parkrun in charge :)

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 17/10/2014 18:56

Boo indeed, as it's an hour's drive away as well, so I really do lose my Saturday.

OP posts:
feetheart · 18/10/2014 12:45

Boo to losing your Saturday and double boo to missing parkrun :(

I am slightly stunned. DS decided he wanted to run fast today and boy did he! He dragged us both round to a PB again. He took over a minute and a half off his PB from 2 weeks ago and came in at 27:58, I took over 1min 20 off my PB (again from 2 weeks ago) and came in at 28:15 ShockShockShockShock. It's only the 3rd time I've ever gone under 30mins for a 5k Shock
We were both 2nd in our age categories :)
I am either going to have to seriously up my speed work or find someone else for him to run with soon as I'm not sure how long I can keep up :)
He is rather knackered now though.

ThursdayLast · 18/10/2014 12:52

Poor ohone. You'll be raring to go next week.
How was the new RD cinnamon? I love all of ours, but there's two in particular I'm fond of.

Well done minifeet and feet too! well done for keeping up!

I did ours today in 28.35. I did quite a strenuous 6 miles yesterday and boy could I feel it. Still, that's number 22 done, and I reckon I'm in the top ten turner uppers at Lanhydrock.
Actually I just checked and I'm third on the women's list Smile

Blatherskite · 18/10/2014 14:24

Love that my tourism is catching :)

I was "home" today but will be in Pontefract next weekend.

HalleLouja · 18/10/2014 15:08

Nice to see minifeet do so well.

I had a good start and then totally flagged. Oh well. Thanks to FriendofFeet on spurring me on. Have girl flu but still gutted am nearly a minute off pb...... Oh well must try harder.

cinnamongreyhound · 18/10/2014 16:53

Sounds good feetheart, my friend often gets someone to run with her ds as he's too quick for her but he also has slow days were he's 4-5mins slower than his pb. Well done!!

She did really well thanks ThursdayLast, a bit nervous on her pre-run speech which you could here but a well set out smoothly run parkrun. She had very experienced volunteers though and a straight forward results process!

I had a little run after too which was nice if a little warm!

MelanieCheeks · 18/10/2014 17:25

Well done the Feets! I usaully try to tag behind a kid-wearing-a-10-Tshirt if I need a zoom.

Not quite a PB today, at a still very respectable 26:12. There were a lot of wet leaves on the ground, so it was hard to have enough trust to run fast.

And I very nearly DID forget my barcode! DH had a very rare son-free Saturday, so he'd agreed to come with, and to take photos. So we were in his car. And out the door before I remembered my barcode tag on MY keyring.

Now I have the small matter of 200 photos to go through, edit out any with people who don't want their pics on facebook, and any that show my arse....

Knackerelli · 18/10/2014 17:29

Hello ladies! Some fab times from both yourselves and your mini parkrunners :-)

Haven't posted in ages as stupid RL kept getting in the way of running. Wanted to share though what happened this morning as I feel it really sums up parkrun. DD wanted to come with me but after running 2 of the 3 laps was flagging. ( is her 4th parkrun and can do it if she wanted). Two 13 year olds who had finished came and ran with us the last lap encouraging her all the way. They were so lovely and really helped her to keep going and enjoy the run. Thanks but think they would prefer Cake

MelanieCheeks · 18/10/2014 17:39

Aw, the support I've encountered at parkruns is really special.

OhOne, I'll be in Perth on 8th November if that is near you at all...

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 18/10/2014 17:54

Some fantastic running today - especially well done to minifeet and KnackerelliDD, and to cinnamon for volunteering AND running Grin

Melanie sadly I am nowhere near Perth Sad. But will be at SA with feet on 8th Nov Grin. And DH doesn't actually know this yet, but thanks to his fantastic hotel booking skills I have the choice of Harrogate and Fountains Abbey on 1 November.

OP posts:
Blatherskite · 19/10/2014 19:02

Do Fountains Abbey OhOne, it's beautiful.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 20/10/2014 14:06

I am leaning that way Blathers Smile

Edinburgh is no longer happening Sad - change of plan means I need to travel back Friday night instead of Saturday. cinnamon do you fancy Wimpole on 22 November?

OP posts:
cinnamongreyhound · 20/10/2014 14:09

My boys have a party at 1 and hours drive away so would have to be home by 11.30 to get changed could be pushing it! Let me run it by dh :)

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 23/10/2014 11:50

Lucky cinnamonboys! Mine are past that stage, although we are tied to a touchline most Saturday afternoons instead Smile.

I am running at home this weekend, feels like the first time for a while even though I think it is only 2 or 3 weeks. DS1 is definitely coming, DS2 might but may need bribing with cake.

OP posts:
standingonlego · 23/10/2014 16:57

Anyone doing the Daventry inaugural run on 8th November?

Blatherskite · 23/10/2014 18:04

Probably not.

Maybe.

No.

Yes.

Haven't yet decided. On the one hand - I need to stay close to MK as it's the wife's first marathon that day and I'm crewing. On the other - it's not that far from MK, wife isn't going to need much crewing until the 2nd half of her marathon and has told me to go and the ED is a stolen MK RD so I know her well and she asked me to go. Torn.

cinnamongreyhound · 23/10/2014 23:13

Go go go!

We're going to a farm OhOneOhTwoOhThree, should be good if it's not freezing and/or pouring down!

feetheart · 24/10/2014 09:58

Club AGM last night and my mission to get a local parkrun is up and running Hmm. Committee members I spoke to are willing to support the idea but weren't very enthusiastic (but then they aren't parkrunners) Other people, who do parkrun are MUCH keener, and have some useful contacts :)
Need to build a groundswell of support and find suitable venue. Sadly I couldn't do much on the former last night as had to pick up from Guides (damn childcare responsibilities :)) but Mr Googlemaps, DH and I had a go at the latter - have a few places to run/cycle round over the next few weeks that we hadn't thought about before.

Volunteering at SA tomorrow so will be asking lots of questions :)
