New thread for park runners old and new. Who's running at home and away this weekend? Who's volunteering?

I read the blurb about Tring. Apparently there is a big hill Grin faints.

Could do SA on 8th November. Might be there on 1st too.

feetheart · 09/10/2014 11:34

Yes, we have looked at the route and the hill is at the start. DS wants to 'do a hill' so we may be there on 1st Nov Hmm

Blatherskite · 09/10/2014 16:30

I'm doing Buckingham this weekend with my friend, staying 'home' the weekend after as I have a busy weekend (and a Sunday half marathon) and can't face the travelling too, back up north the weekend after to do Pontefract with my brother, then I'm RD, then home as again, I need to be home that weekend, having a week off Shock as I'm marshalling a half, then Abingdon, then Daventry...and then it's December!

Pontefract, Abingdon and Daventry are all new courses so should get me up to 22 different parkruns.

Not that I have it all planned or anything Wink

cinnamongreyhound · 10/10/2014 14:21

I'm home this weekend if you fancy travelling that far OhOneOhTwoOhThree!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 10/10/2014 18:30

Unfortunately I don't think the birthday girl would be too impressed if I disappeared for all of Saturday morning cinners Smile You are a good hour each way sadly. I am doing the Marriott's Way 10K on Sunday as well. Not that I am trying to avoid her or anything Wink

Ah well another day! Are you doing blickling?

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 10/10/2014 19:11

I am thinking Catton, to take my tally to 9 different park runs - trailing far behind Blathers.

OP posts:
cinnamongreyhound · 10/10/2014 20:09

You're beating me, I'm only on 5!

Blatherskite · 10/10/2014 22:17

To be fair, I did spend most of the summer trailing round the country just to do as many as possible.

A friend of mine has done 107 different courses! That's more than Paul Sinton-Hewitt who has "only" done 98!

Is anyone planning a Christmas day parkrun or a double on New Years day? The kids would never forgive me for running on Christmas day but I think NYD might be do-able.

cinnamongreyhound · 10/10/2014 22:20

If I can get enough volunteers I'm going to rd one on nyd and try to run another one.

Blatherskite · 10/10/2014 22:49

I'm on 85 runs now and am getting twitchy for my 100 t-shirt so I'm hoping to run 2 so that I can make up for a couple of weeks of RD-ing. It's looking like I might be able to get to my black shirt sometime in January :)

HalleLouja · 11/10/2014 14:21

I hope you all had good runs. I have been resting my legs for tomorrow's 10k.

Feet did you make Panshanger?

feetheart · 11/10/2014 17:43

Yes I did - lovely course but a 'proper' cross country run - woods, fields, cows, sheep, slopes and DS struggled for some of it (he was cold at the start and complained of a sore back about half way round) so we took it slowly. One of the touring 100 people said it was a tough course so we felt better.
DS says he definitely wants to do a flat one next time so we are back to SA :)

Did talk to a few of the organisers and met the local parkrun ambassador who is tasked with helping people to set up new parkruns in Herts, Beds and Bucks - very useful :o

feetheart · 11/10/2014 17:44

Good luck with the 10k HalleLouja. Take it easy to start with as there is a long, slow climb from about 3-5k, after that you can stretch it out.
Enjoy :)

Blatherskite · 11/10/2014 19:17

Was his name Glenn feetheart?

cinnamongreyhound · 11/10/2014 20:10

Hope you have a fab run HalleLouja!

That is close blatherskite! I'm on 53 now Grin we have someone on 70something at ours but we're only on #83 anyway :)

cinnamongreyhound · 11/10/2014 20:20

I really enjoyed my parkrun today, running felt easier than it has for a long time. Still a long way from my pb but I could have been faster if is wanted to push today :)

feetheart · 12/10/2014 08:46

Blathers - yes

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 12/10/2014 19:24

I went to Catton yesterday - really nice course, and although I just gently jogged around my time wasn't too shabby. And today I ran a 10K. My poor legs don't know what has hit them Smile.

How was your 10K Halle?

OP posts:
OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 12/10/2014 19:32

How about 8 November for a SA gathering Blathers, Halle and feet (and anyone else who can make it)?

OP posts:
HalleLouja · 12/10/2014 20:14

Oh 10k was hilly. Managed to beat my Whipsnade 10k time by over 4 mins. How was your 10k?

Should be there the 8th though my friend is coming over the night before and not sure if she will fancy coming out first thing.

Blatherskite · 12/10/2014 20:34

I'm crewing The Wife on her first marathon that weekend so am going to have to do MK so that I can race over to the marathon as early as possible I'm afraid.

My next free/unplanned weekend is not until mid December!

karatekimmi · 13/10/2014 06:54

My "D" H had one job to do on Saturday. To get the barcodes. I got up, got mini kimmi up and dressed, made breakfasts and tea for everyone, packed the bag, sorted the pushchair and car seat out. He slept in til 8.15. He had one job. He brought 2 of his bar codes !!

Luckily the very very lovely race director said she would add me :-)

MelanieCheeks · 13/10/2014 06:59

I managed a lovely birthday-eve PB of 25:30 - that 25 minute target is in my sights!

Even nicer was chatting to someone afterwards who said she'd been admiring me last week thinking "gosh she's so fit!"

Took DH shopping for running gear yesterday, as he's started a couch to 5k programme.

cinnamongreyhound · 13/10/2014 07:35

That's great MelanieCheeks, all three things :)

Run directors are usually lovely people karatekimmi just look at Blatherskite and I Wink
