Meant to say well done edwinia and sorry about your fall spidey.

MySpideySenseTickles · 06/11/2014 10:56

Anyone who's met me knows I fall down a lot! I'm going to take the opportunity to do the housework and crochet a nice bright earwarmer to match my running things, now it's getting colder.
If I don't sit on my right bum cheek which is just one big bruise then I'm ok.

MySpideySenseTickles · 07/11/2014 06:19

Not be running today, horriffic rain combined with my knee still really stiff I'd hoped to be ok for today but I'm going to have to give it a couple more days. I daren't risk it because I know how easily I injure and I don't think 14st pounding down onto an already painful joint repeatedly is such a good idea.

DaftMaul · 07/11/2014 16:34

I managed about a 20min run, I think.

I set the 25min run on the app, walked a couple of times for about 30secs and then stopped with about 3 mins left to run. So not brilliant but not too bad. Knee was a bit twingey but held up. My legs are quite tired though and even more so after starting Christmas shopping this afternoon!

JapaneseMargaret · 07/11/2014 19:40

Hi all, I'm new - just in time for the end of the thread!

I did W7 R2 yesterday, and am really loving it. Finding these longe runs tough (tho, to be fair, the last 5 mins and the warm down walk are all uphill), but then can't wait to get out for the next one.

Started C25K three years ago but moved house at W6 and only got back into it now (re-started from the beginning). Am getting up early and running in the mornings, and find that a revelation.

Registered for a 10K run at the end of Feb to keep me going after I graduate. Hopefully the habit will be well and truly ingrained by then!

DaftMaul · 08/11/2014 11:42

Welcome Margaret. Well done for getting through to W7 and wow to aiming for 10k in Feb. That's a great incentive.

Iggi999 · 08/11/2014 12:29

Hello, hope this weekend's runs go well for everyone. I did one yesterday and underestimated how cold it was (just tshirt on) - it seemed to make me run faster just to warm up!

Iggi999 · 08/11/2014 18:29

Have bought an audio book to try running to - well it's a comedian's show actually. Not sure if it will be fast enough iyswim but think it might be the distraction I need from my own breathing/pain!

stilllearnin · 09/11/2014 10:32

I fancy that Iggi but I'm absolutely dependent on Laura (I like to think she needs me too!)

I did the speed podcast on the treadmill (hate the treadmill) and I've just got back from the stepping stone one - still building back up after being ill. But at least that was the 2 a week i promised. Ilooked at the Tracey Andrews (or Anderson is it?) vids last night. I am going to try beginner arms but really I need to lose some weight!

Iggi999 · 09/11/2014 11:30

I hear Tracy too, her voice just comes on over the music? (That is with the app though, the podcast might be different)
Anyway have woken up feeling shit with a really sore throat, think today's run may be on hold.

Worryworker · 09/11/2014 21:32

Newbie here, keen to join.

I completed the C25K earlier in the year and was easily running 5k 2-3 times a week including a park run most weeks. However, annoyingly in aug I ended up with pneumonia. It was horrendous. My GP advised me to wait a further few weeks after recovery before starting to run again. Finally started running again few weeks ago- started on week 3.

Doing ok so far but feel so pissed off that have to start all over again. I was so proud of myself when I was running 5k a few times a week and felt great. I think I'm now resentful that got to go back to the beginning. But I will do it and hope this thread will spur me on.

Well done to everyone who has taken up and succeeded in C25K plan.

JapaneseMargaret · 10/11/2014 04:12

Worry - that is one hell of a set-back!

Very annoying to have to take backward steps, but on the bright side, you will be back at 5k before you know it.

See how you go - you might only have to do 2 runs for some weeks, depending on how you're progressing. :)

I did my final W7 run this morning, feel like graduation is just around the corner, now.

DaftMaul · 10/11/2014 12:59

Worry, welcome and well done for getting back to running after being so ill. I'm sure it won't take you long to get back to fitness as you were so fit before you became unwell. Good luck with it.

Well done Margaret on completing W7. I am still struggling to complete a 25min run. I definitely ran more today than Friday but, again, had to walk a couple of times. I did speed up fractionally for the final minute but I run so slowly it doesn't take much! I did have my fastest split time on MMR of under 8mins for he first time which was great - I know it's not very accurate as I just record the whole session and don't differentiate between when I am walking or running, but felt good nonetheless. Hips were really stiff at the end of the run though -old gimmer- !

MontserratCaballe · 10/11/2014 16:01

Hello Worry, so sorry to hear about your pneumonia, take it easy on your recovery.

I went out for W7, R1 today but seem to have jarred my back quite badly doing a plank last week. Running was too painful today so I had to walk the whole way. Still, I hope to be able to repeat it later in the week. Daft, I know what you mean about the 25 m feeling like forever. On Sunday, I felt as though I had been going for ages and Laura said it was only 5 minutes! Oops.

Keep on running, everyone.

DaftMaul · 10/11/2014 16:43

I think boredom is one of the reasons I don't particularly like running ... well and the fact I'm crap at it! Wink

Whoever posts the final message on this thread will have to start a new one!! Smile

DaftMaul · 10/11/2014 16:45

Oops, thought we were 30 messages further on than we were told you I was an old gimmer

ScienceRocks · 12/11/2014 22:50

Stamina podcast. Oof.

That is all.

MySpideySenseTickles · 13/11/2014 08:04

Going to try running in public today, I'm getting bored of the woods and it's getting really slippery and muddy now. There's a road opposite my house which runs alonside fields and some woods it's pretty straight and level for about two miles and has a decent path, I'm just worrying about people shouting abuse from cars, has anyone had that and how do youndeal with it?

EdwiniasRevenge · 13/11/2014 08:17

I'm going out today. Going to try 25mins. Haven't been out for a week though due to time constraints and the weather so could be interesting.

I've had no probs re abuse Spidey. In fact I've been surprised at how polite everyone is. Fellow runners all stick to "hello". Other random folk sometimes chirp up with a "go girl" "you're doing great" "wish I coukd do that".

Overall I've been pleasantly surprised by others comments.

DaftMaul · 13/11/2014 09:03

Phew, thought I had killed the thread!! Grin

Spidey, I haven't had any comments (that i could hear) either and regularly run past loads of houses with builders working. I do have music playing through my headphones that muffles lots of things though. As the weeks have passed, I have felt much more confident about running in public and now run past places where I am likely to see people I know. Without exception (and to my face!), they have all expressed surprise what a good thing I am doing and some how good I look liars. If anyone was to heckle, I would ignore it.

Science, are you being challenged Grin

Well, I bloody did it yesterday and managed to run for 25 minutes (W7R1)! I have even started to lose a few pounds, yay! It definitely helped to vary my route so it was more difficult to plan in my head how far I would have to go before I could stop - hence seeing more people I know. Definitely mind over matter to keep going and I was pretty much shuffling but did keep going. I'm amazed with myself!

Good luck Edwinia!

MySpideySenseTickles · 13/11/2014 12:15

Well I'm going to attempt it on the road, oddly I'm not too bothered about people seeing me when I'm running, it's when I'm changing between running and walking or I'm just walking, I always want to tell people that I was just Running before and I'm not that knackered from walking.
I have earphones so if anyone does shout I doubt I'd hear them.
It'll save me 20mins or so driving to the woods and back and mean that I could pop out in the evenings when Ds is just watching tv with Dh.

Mayvis · 13/11/2014 12:47

Can I join please?

I've competed wk5r1. Feeling ok, knees a tad sore. I always find the first few minutes of each running section tough but then find my stride I guess.

Have no idea how I'll complete the third run this week. I live somewhere very hilly and there are steep climbs in every direction.

MySpideySenseTickles · 13/11/2014 13:11

That road is definately not flat!
I'm Really struggling with wk3 I can do the first 90sec run but can't seem to manage the first 3min run, although I can do the second?
I've done 3runs of week 3 so I think I'll attempt it again and hopefully crack it.
On the plus side when I bought my armband for my phone I had to extend the Velcro so it would fit, I removed the extra Velcro today because it fits easily.
I'm also exactly 1st lighter than when I started c25k!
(I've had a busy couple of weeks and Dhs birthday yesterday so out for a meal the other day and steak and chips for tea last night, not surprising I struggled lol)

MySpideySenseTickles · 13/11/2014 13:15

I've just read through, I fouund w3r1 easy and added some extra running to the end so I think it's probably down to me having not run for a while (I went out Tuesday and struggled then too) hopefully I can build it back up, running on the road was better than I thought though, no mud and even though the first half was uphill I knew I could run home downhill.
And no drive home either.

crappyday · 13/11/2014 16:02

mayvis I could've written your post word for word! Did w5r1 yesterday. Very hilly here- uphill for first half, so it's easier on the way home. It means that I'm always faster for the second half. I have no idea how I'm going to manage 20 in one go in 2 runs time.
I keep trying to work out where I can drive to that would have a flat run that I could do.
