Hey all

I've been away (bad neck and general other things getting in the way of running) but I need to get back on it. Tomorrow is the plan, 20 minutes is the goal.

Was planning on running today, had all my kit laid out and was ready to go but then ordered a pizza and didn't go out.
It's been a bad week for dieting, I've gained 4lb!
I'm angry at myself because we were doing so well and I bloody gave in to cravings.
Back on it tomorrow, proper diet day and I'm going to do my run but make sure that when the podcast finishes im still a bit away from home so ive got to walk further.

I am disappointed in myself for the huge quantities of crap ive eaten this last week but I'm determined that it's back on tomorrow, I'm making fresh homemade tomato soup for tea and going to bake some brown crusty rolls to go with it.
I managed 20 sit-ups quite a few crunches and almost 20 seconds of plank today which is more than yesterday, although Ds sitting on my feet and counting sit-ups was evil because he just kept making me do more!
That child is a sadist lol

I was planking when I hurt my back. I clearly have no core and was using my back to lift rather my abs. It's much better but still twingeing a bit. I can't run now til Friday because of work but hope it will be better still by then.

Well done to everyone who has been out.

Well done all.

Montserrat, good idea to go back a bit , you have to protect your back. Presumably, the injury wasn't related to running?

Mayvis, I found that 20min run really tough but what a feeling when you do it! In fact, I think the next two runs were easier!

It is strange actually wanting to run, crappy! I sometimes am desperate to get rid of everyone in the morning to get on with it. I think it is the feeling of achievement when it is over. Hell, after years of not doing anything, it is an achievement just getting trainers on and getting out of the door!

Well done Science! The wet leaves are really slippery in some places here. I still need to work out a doable 5k route, just in case I ever get there, I'm not sure the current zigzagging of streets will work.

One more W7 run to go. 25minutes didn't seem quite so bad today but psychologically, halfway is always the worst point!

Wanting to do runs and feeling odd if you haven't means we are runners! Grin

Ran just under 5k this morning after the school run. Feeling heroic about it as i did a jillian yesterday and it was raining today and really wet underfoot Smile

Wasn't very fast though Angry

Well I should be doing w5r2 today but it's pouring with rain which has put me off. Wanting to go running is very strange- I've never felt this before doing c25k!

Mayvis · 17/11/2014 14:36

Completed w5r3!!!

I was so nervous but it was much easier than I'd anticipated. Took a few minutes to find my stride but it was good then on in. Covered 3km in the 20 minutes of running.

Morning, runners! Just looking in. I hurt my back ten days ago and only just feel able to run, so I went back a bit and did week 5, with 5 mins of running then 3 of walking, 3 times in total I think. The running part was fine though my back was a bit sore. Still, I will run again on Friday and see how much I can do.

Some fantastic inspiration on the thread. Well done, folks. Keep on running!

Well done Laughing and Science with your +podcasts.

Welcome Mayvis. Chippy lunch, yum.

Wow, Margaret. So how far had you run by the end? You must have a very fast pace.

I had planned to run this morning but the rain was so hard, I decided not to! It's the first time I have not run because of the weather. Not sure if I can go in the morning so will see how Sunday pans out!

I'm so proud of myself!

W8 R3 today, and I hit 5K!! In fact, I got to the 5K point and turned back, and it was about 20 seconds before Laura said it was half way. Very windy today, as well.

Apologies for the little boast, but I had to tell you guys as nobody (aside from DH somewhat!) is interested! Grin Grin

Wk5r2 completed today and it felt good. I could have kept going after the first 8 minutes, maybe not the second lot though.

Husband has rewarded me with a chippy lunch.

Spidey, fab weight loss, well done! nit jealous at all, oh no

Addicted, yes, I have done the other c25k plus podcasts. They were fine!

Edwinias, 22 minutes is still fantastic - it's miles from where you started and particularly impressive considering the last few weeks you've had. Look after yourself. You'll get back up to 5k/40 mins in no time.

I did my first of the c25k+ podcasts last week - the speed one. I actually quite enjoyed it and it felt really weird having a much shorter overall run. I'm terrified of the stamina one so hats off to you science! I do want to try it though as am still SO slow...

Enjoy your runs over the weekend everyone!

Edwinia, you will soon get your strength back again. Best not to really push yourself as I think you are more likely to injure yourself if your body is not quite ready yet. Obey next time you try, you will manage at least 25mins.

Spidey, I am so impressed with your weight loss so far. That is brilliant. I am still hoping to lose more but may need to do something else to help it along!

I had a 3wk break due to depression/school hols/very chesty cough.
did 10+15min run with 3min walk in the middle relatively comfortably last week.

I thought I could manage 25mins today as it was the same as last week and starting again after the 3min walk was really tough so I thought I would just go for a straight 25mins today.

I was waiting and waiting and begging for Laura to tell me I had 5mins left and when she finally did I was done in. I faded quickly and my legs just stopped. I don't even remember deciding to stop. I'd already stopped by the time I realised I'd stopped iyswim

definitely more of a mental battle than physical.

Is it not you who had a chest infection? Give your body a chance, my love.
You WILL get back to your previous fitness, but it took me 4-5 runs to get there.
DH was reluctant to let me run out to the river last night, so I ended up doing intervals. YUCK!

EdwiniasRevenge · 13/11/2014 21:19

I know. But a month ago I was running 40mins.

Edwina you've just run for 22 whole minutes?
In what world is that a failure? It sounds like a massive success to me.

Science stamina is a killer. Have you done the other two c25k+ podcasts? They are easier going!

Spidey great news on the armband. Slow down for the first 3 mins. See if you can get through it.

Oh, please don't be too disheartened edwinia. I had a bad run at around the same state as you and it felt like it haunted me for a week or so. But the next run was fine. And the next. And the one after that. Chin up, lovely, you did great.

Mayvis · 13/11/2014 16:34

Edwina - don't be so hard on yourself, think of what you did manage and how you've improved.

Another day and you'll have it cracked!

Crappyday - I'm contemplating driving somewhere flat too but the only place is an airfield (they allow runners around the outside) but then it's just long, boring, straight roads. I tend to be a 'just another corner/street' runner.

Good luck! I should do a run tomorrow then the big one on Sunday.

I tried to do 25mins.

I failed. I did about 22mins. My legs were very tired. I lost concentration and focus for a split second and stopped.

bit disappointed with myself as this is the first run that I have not completed what I wanted to.

mayvis I could've written your post word for word! Did w5r1 yesterday. Very hilly here- uphill for first half, so it's easier on the way home. It means that I'm always faster for the second half. I have no idea how I'm going to manage 20 in one go in 2 runs time.
I keep trying to work out where I can drive to that would have a flat run that I could do.
