Okay, it's not just 30 Day Shred anymore but if you would like to log your daily JM fix and get some tips and tricks from fellow Shredders, step this way.

I had a rest day yesterday too as my back is really stiff and sore.

Only 12 days til swimwear [shudder] Still, even when if I'm not perfect I will be far far better than I would have been!

yadahyadah · 16/07/2014 08:05

BR phase 1week3 cardio 1 done in the sweaty sweaty heat.

Tangoandcreditcards · 16/07/2014 09:58

Too hot for this nonsense yadah!

I've just done 30DSL2D3. Sweating buckets. I'm calling wimp on the plank-twists and going to switch to bicycle crunches tomorrow. I just can't do them at all and not sure my abs are getting toned by me lying face down on the floor moaning!

tabulahrasa · 16/07/2014 11:24

30DSL1D10

My new rug is very slidey, even the dog lying on it doesn't help...I've got a grippy thing on order (not purely for shredding, lol, just because it's lethal) but...it does not bode well for level 2 tomorrow.

yadahyadah · 16/07/2014 12:15

Tango you can modify the bicycle crunch by having knees bent feet planted on floor and just lifting shoulders off mat and aiming armpit to opposite knee. Not sure about mods for plant twist ...

OwlCapone · 16/07/2014 12:30

I ditched the plank twists in favour of bicycle crunches. I still find them hard so it must still be working my abs!

OwlCapone · 16/07/2014 12:31

Tabulah do NOT do the L2 skater move on a slippy rug! Trust me...

tabulahrasa · 16/07/2014 12:41

That's what's got me a bit worried, lol.

I suppose I can move the rug and do them straight on the floor right enough.

OwlCapone · 16/07/2014 13:25

:)

I found doing the jumping jacks on a rug was fine as the force was going in opposite directions and thus was balanced. Skaters, not so much...

OwlCapone · 16/07/2014 16:20

30DS L2 done again. I even managed a set of utterly crap walking press ups. So hot though!

macnab · 16/07/2014 16:55

Hi everyone. Well I didn't shred yesterday evening because I had to go out unexpectedly and it was just too late when I got back. In keeping with my mental attitude to 'rest days' I scoffed a starbar on the way home Blush Having said that, my right shin is still quite sore, even today so probably no harm to have rested it. I'm still going to shred this evening though, but will wear my runners because I'd been doing it barefoot and I wonder if that's what has caused the pain in my shins.

I can't stand those plank twists in fact it feels very uncomfortable when I do them, like I'm not doing them right or something is going to pop out! So I am going to do bicycle crunches instead too, I do feel them working so will stick with them.

The skater move just makes me feel like a big eejit! Its a bit too 'dancey' for my liking - I have very poor coordination at the best of times so this move puts me right off!

I'm posting now, telling you all that I'm going to shred later, so that I will HAVE to come back later or tomorrow and confirm that I did. Otherwise that would be lying and that would be bad.

This thread is good for making me stick with it Smile

OwlCapone · 16/07/2014 17:03

I feel more of an idiot doing the twisty things that are paired with the skaters :)

tabulahrasa · 16/07/2014 18:34

I don't mind skaters...on my old rug anyway, lol, because I figure it's effort over style on those, but the twists took me the whole level last time to get anything like coordinated enough for them to feel effective.

The plank twists, I always felt like my hips were wrong or something, but, I could feel them on my stomach so I stuck with them.

ShadowsShadowsEverywhere · 16/07/2014 18:35

I fell over twice doing those twisty jumps last night Owl.

And those plank twists - I don't think I can be doing them right. I don't feel anything. What I'm doing when I do them, I could do all day iyswim? I don't really know how I can do it any differently though, it's not exactly a complex move is it?

I will be shredding when DCs in bed. I'm having to keep them separate ATM as they keep fighting over the slide.

OublietteBravo · 16/07/2014 20:39

Just done 30DS L2D5.

Shadows I think I might be a bit addicted too. I'm already wondering which JM DVD to try next, and I'm only half way through 30DS. I love the fact that it fits in with my lifestyle (DH commutes, so I need to be at home with DC). I started a thread asking for recommendations about how to fit exercise in at home, and someone suggested 30DS. I was really skeptical about trying an exercise DVD - but I'm so glad I did - I'm definitely a convert!

I'm not sure I'm doing the plank twists right - they seem much easier than the other abs exercises.

macnab · 16/07/2014 21:32

Just checking in again to confirm that I did indeed shred this evening! Level 2 Day 7 for me. I did bicycle crunches instead of plank ones. And the leg work killed me tonight all those squats my thighs are still burning!

OublietteBravo I feel the same, it is ideal for me as a working mum. Its perfect for anyone who is short on time or housebound!

ShadowsShadowsEverywhere · 16/07/2014 22:13

I'm really tired, like bone achingly tired. I started and actually had to stop. I couldn't stop yawning and then I dropped a weight on my foot. Not good. Bed methinks and start again tomorrow.

flowerpowergirl · 17/07/2014 03:47

I have finally done it 30DS L1D1. Am in awe of the rest of you. Longest 20 mins of my life. Pleeeeease send me some encouragement. I really need it!

OwlCapone · 17/07/2014 06:57

Well done :) It gets easier surprisingly quickly!

ImogenQuy · 17/07/2014 07:04

I had an unscheduled rest day yesterday - I was just too shattered to get out of bed in time to do the DVD. RI30 L2D8 done this morning, but it was too hot to do full cardio circuits: I did one minute of each and lay down and panted for the other minute.

I really hate this, to be honest (and L2 of RI30 is particularly evil and painful): I keep going because I want to be fitter. This thread is good for motivation.

I think those plank twists are genuinely quite easy - apart from my shoulders I didn't really feel them anywhere.

Tangoandcreditcards · 17/07/2014 08:27

flowerpower had a similar blip after day 1, keep at it, I promise after day 3 you'll start wanting to do it. (Before then, grit your teeth, it's worth it)

I think I find the plank twists (and all the plank moves) hard because I've had my lower back muscles removed, so all the pressure of balancing in that position goes straight to my spine. I'm keeping going with the plank cardio moves, 5 and then drop and straight back up, but no can do on the twists.

Ooh just looked back and I'm on d4 of 30DSL2, woo hoo, thought it was D3. Little bonus. Not bad given that DS had me up every 2 hrs last night!

yadahyadah · 17/07/2014 08:42

BR phase 1 week 3 workout 4 done in the sun.

On the plank twist things check you are doing it right - I found with crow push ups that I was doing a lot wrong and not feeling it. Here is a link from you know who.

In other news, I have been reading about MUFAs which are fats that send a signal to your liver to start burning stored - especially stubborn - fat. Does anyone have any experience of these babies and easy ways to stuff your diet with them without really having to get all lentil knitter about life?

I always have a big jar of roasted nuts to snack on. I buy natural nuts and roast them myself so they have no salt. Problem is, they are full of calories.

Bimblepops · 17/07/2014 12:13

I gave myself a rest day yesterday, to give my right quad a chance to recover. Back to it today though - probably not until this evening once the kids are in bed though.
