For all running chat!

OP posts:
EauRouge · 07/08/2014 09:52

Well, hopefully one day I'll be able to join in again. The latest is that my core strength is much better (and it wasn't that hard either!), but my lower back muscles are still very tight and it's messing with my sciatic nerve and causing me to be wonky. So still in a bit of pain even after short walks. I don't even dare go running yet to see what happens.

Back to physio next week for another fun sports massage. Ow....

ThursdayLast · 07/08/2014 18:46

195.3 with my 5k. That I did just to prove to myself that yesterday was a blip Smile

Take it carefully Eau, when you're back we want you back for keeps please.

5madthings · 07/08/2014 19:44

199.4 as I did 4.1 miles tonight, I did a bit of hill Sprints in that to help my pace so was very hot afterwards, I didn't feel like going but am pleased I made myself :)

eau hope the physio helps and you are back out soon.

SoftKittyWarmKitty · 07/08/2014 20:26

Another post-work 5k tonight, taking us to 202.5.

Cinnamon I missed your previous post - congrats!

cinnamongreyhound · 07/08/2014 20:43

Glad things are improving EauRouge and hope sports massage isn't too painful. Keep checking in with us :)

standingonlego · 07/08/2014 20:57

Been AWOL from thread for a while, add on 3.2k for me - a diversion from normal route as was away with work but was nice to explore. That takes us to 205.7

feetheart · 08/08/2014 06:57

Eau - hope the physio's massage isn't to ouchy and gets you further on the way to recovery.

All I can say is 'argggh, owwww, speed work'. The beginners speed work course didn't run last night but one of the coaches said he thought I would be fine with the ordinary one. I was sort of but it was HARD.

I can add approx 3 miles so 208.7

BlueChampagne · 08/08/2014 16:22

Well I was going to do a 10 miler this afternoon, but it's hosing it with rain, with thunder and lightning ... so as I'm not training for anything specific, I'm having a day off! I don't mind getting wet but this is just silly.

My weekly total is 8.3 miles, taking us to 217

ThursdayLast · 08/08/2014 16:39

Dag nammit my runner partner tonight has cried off.
Hmmm, am I going to be motivated enough to run on my own...???

ThursdayLast · 08/08/2014 19:44

Did it Smile

5 miles plus strides = 6 miles = 223

Morrigu · 08/08/2014 19:49

Haven't been on in aggess so will have lots to catch up on. Hope all are well. What are we counting - miles or km this month?

I've messed up and what with holidays and my beloved pooch dying I've been drinking a bit, smoking a lot and hardly running at all bar the odd stop/start 5k on holiday as it was too bloody hot to do any more. As for my physio exercises bah. My half marathon is in 5 weeks - I don't know whether to laugh or cry about that Grin

F-king stupid of me to pick up the ciggies again! Slapped a patch on today and near killed myself running 5km and only about three weeks ago I was doing 10.5miles. Have a few childfree days coming up so going to hit the gym and running big time and see if I can pick up some fitness again.

Morrigu · 08/08/2014 19:58

Just skimming through the messages - huge congratulations cinnamon, I hope your pregnancy goes well for you and how awesome you are still running Thanks

cinnamongreyhound · 08/08/2014 20:00

That sucks Morrigu! I lost my girl last may and was heartbroken, I still at times now if something reminds me of her or I see an unexpected photo :(. You sound determined, but don't injure yourself trying to get up to hm in a short time better to do what you can and still be able to run afterwards. We're in miles this month :)

And yay for motivation ThursdayLast!!

cinnamongreyhound · 08/08/2014 20:00

Thanks Morrigu x-posts :)

karatekimmi · 08/08/2014 20:00

Two 1 miles from me, day 15 of the streak, still going on!! Parkrun tomorrow, and some hills on Sunday!!

210.7

karatekimmi · 08/08/2014 20:05

Sorry, missed the last post 225

morrigu take is slow, re think your half marathon plan - you don't have to run it all, maybe walk some? I read somewhere that if you walk for a minute very time you finish a mile most people would get a faster time that running the whole thing maybe marathons, not halves!!

standingonlego · 08/08/2014 20:14

I completely missed your exciting news cinnamon huge congratulations - with that due date there is a chance I may share my 40th birthday with mini cinnamons arrival :)

We have a parkrunner with a bump, she did brilliantly and ran up to 30 weeks with no worries. Just keep up to date with your sports bra sizing Wink

Morrigu · 08/08/2014 20:21

Don't worry I'm not going to go all out running. I plan to take it slowly and see how it goes (esp with the dodgy hip) and concentrate on increasing my fitness at the gym on the machines, not running. I think once I've been off the cigs a few days I'll notice a huge difference as it's more breathing I was struggling with obviously Grin

Thanks cinnamon and sorry to hear about your girl too. I'm absolutely gutted truth be told as she was my first baby before the kids came along. Tonight is the first night the dc are away since and I came realise it's the first night I've been totally alone as normally she's pootering about the place.

6.2 miles to add then for August. One very hot 30 holiday run and todays. 231.2

cinnamongreyhound · 08/08/2014 20:36

I got her when my ex left me as he didn't like dogs. She was then with my through meeting dh, moving twice, having both my babies and starting my business. She was 12 1/2 but she was fit and well one day and gone the next so it was tough to cope with! Dh forced me into a new dog too soon to fill the physical gap and it took me a while to bond with him, he's also had his problems but I love him and because of his as we now have two dogs!!! Both love running which is great, my girl used to hide if she saw me in trainers after she's been on a few runs with me!

Ooooo 30 weeks standingonlego, that sounds good Wink don't get too excited both mine were 14 days overdue!!!! Will try to remember though :)

cinnamongreyhound · 08/08/2014 20:38

That should be his sa not as, blimmin autocorrect!!

Morrigu · 08/08/2014 20:46

Yes same thing - 12 years old and fit as a fiddle one day, next day gone. Such a shock when it happens so quick isn't it? I can't see me getting another dog any time soon. Dsis has quite recently got a lovely chocolate lab puppy so I'll fill my doggy needs with walking and cuddling hers for a while :)

cinnamongreyhound · 09/08/2014 11:23

I did 4 miles with both doggies, dropped the big one home, put signs out, did parkrun and ran home with little one so a total of 8miles from me this morning which I'm very pleased with :) it's beautiful here! 239.2

HalleLouja · 09/08/2014 11:27

Another 9.5 to add (for the whole week) so 238.7 miles. Went on holiday and ran. Which was good. It was on Great Yarmouth but nice to go away. Am waiting for my parkrun result as thanks to runkeeper I didn't time it.

cinnamongreyhound · 09/08/2014 11:29

X-post Hallelouja! 248.7 :)

HalleLouja · 09/08/2014 11:31

Ohhhh 27.41 for my parkrun. Am well chuffed.
