For all running chat!

OP posts:

Well yes. To be honest with you DS was due in March!

Running a half at 20 weeks would be an achievement. I had to stop running when pg, the effort of it was just too much for my tired tired body to handle. I hope you're feeling well

cinnamongreyhound · 04/08/2014 08:50

Will see how I go, going to look into deferring to next year but not all races allow that.

PulsesARagingEyesFullofWonder · 04/08/2014 09:07

congratulations cinnamongreyhound
Really hope you manage to carry on running. I know people who have, and a half marathon would be amazing! :)
I've always cycled and swum through pregnancies, but I was the same as Thursdaylast : it was the tiredness that stopped me running. That and really bad hyperemesis! By the time I was able to function again, I was worried I'd injure myself if I re-started running.

Hoping to run today with my son (on his bike). Want to keep up the momentum after getting round the Park Run.

HalleLouja · 04/08/2014 09:11

Feet I am all signed up now Hatfield 10k here I come. Am also thinking of Parkrun this Saturday coming. I did really enjoy it. Will also try and do it whilst the holidays are on.

feetheart · 04/08/2014 09:56

HalleLouja - excellent re Hatfield House 10k, I hope it's not as hot as Whipsnade!
Not sure what this w/e will bring as hoping to go to reasonably local folk/music festival and DH did mutter about him going on Friday night and crashing out camping that night. If so no parkrun for me but if not I might try and get him to take DS to gymnastics and I can finally make it to St Albans. Will have to see what the week turns out like.

HalleLouja · 04/08/2014 10:04

If it is as hot that means we are having some weird Indian summer..... Which wouldn't be a totally bad thing. Tries to think of positives.

feetheart · 04/08/2014 11:50

Good point!

I need advice - my mum has offered to buy me running kit for my birthday but wants to send a voucher so I can choose what I want. I usually get everything from Sports Direct as its cheap so have no idea where else sells stuff and if they do vouchers that she can buy online and send (she's in NI) The only one I know is Sweaty Betty and having just looked that is well out of her price range and mine. Does anyone have any other ideas?

Blatherskite · 04/08/2014 12:00

Amazon does running kit and does online vouchers.

I know Sweatshop do vouchers but not sure if you can get them online. There's nothing on the website. Maybe ring them and ask?

HalleLouja · 04/08/2014 14:31

Booked it now realised we are going away. Arghhhhh

cinnamongreyhound · 04/08/2014 15:31

Amazon feetheart? Or a cheque? H&M's stuff is meant to be good. I'm a sports direct fan too apart from trainers :)

ThursdayLast · 04/08/2014 17:10

Can someone give me a kick up the arse please?

I need to go run, think I've got an 8miler lined up on my runkeeper but my will is ebbing ebbing ebbing

I'm so glad I didn't sign up for that half, the closer it gets the more glad I didn't put and pressure on myself. Takes all the fun out of running

cinnamongreyhound · 04/08/2014 17:20

Go ThursdayLast!! You know you'll feel better for it :)

feetheart · 04/08/2014 17:24

Thursday - arse-kicking duly applied. You know you will feel better afterwards even if before and during it feels rubbish :)

Is H&M stuff actually good for running in? Some of it looks quite funky which is what I want but will it just annoy me when I'm wearing it? Anyone know?

Need to feed the family then go out with running club tonight - for someone who has always ran alone I seem to have asked DH for the club joining fee as my birthday present :o

feetheart · 04/08/2014 17:25

Just read properly - oh poo HalleLouja. Any chance they will refund as it was sold out last year apparently?

ThursdayLast · 04/08/2014 17:29

Thanks! I'm in my kit to help convince myself Grin

I have a pair of H&M capris that I love if that's any help. They're a smidge longer in the leg which I find flattering in me, nice and high waisted to keep everything in. Much nicer than the M&S ones I'm in now

Blatherskite · 04/08/2014 17:37

Run Thursday, you'll feel better for it. She says having decided to dump the club run for a trip to the cinema tonight

I love my running club feetheart. I am sooo much fitter and faster for having others to push me that I'd have ever gotten alone. I've tried more races than I'd have known about - remember the potato one?, done more types of training and even developed a social life. It's definitely worthwhile.

ThursdayLast · 04/08/2014 19:34

Done.
8miles.
I can't say I enjoyed it, such a slog. But still, it's in the bank now, can't undo it Smile
Will try and find total now

ThursdayLast · 04/08/2014 19:35

105.75

Do we have a target?

cinnamongreyhound · 04/08/2014 21:10

I was knackered tonight but went for doggy run and it was tough at times but I enjoyed it and the dogs had a great time :) 4.27 miles so total of 110.02.

We don't have a target but in 4 days we've already managed over 100 miles so I reckon it should be higher than previous months Grin

SoftKittyWarmKitty · 04/08/2014 21:44

Been on holiday and had my first run in over two weeks today. It was hideous. It was hot, I felt unfit and a bit nauseous and it was my slowest run in months. That'll teach me to leave it so long again Grin.

So that's 113.12.

feetheart · 05/08/2014 06:58

Blathers - I can see all of that happening here which is exciting. Just running with other people is a novelty and although I haven't found a group to run with who are my pace, and faster, yet I am enjoying the chat whilst meeting new people and finding out new routes. I have also already been introduced to proper speed work which is only going to help.

Managed 4.5 miles last night so 117.62
Think we aimed for, and possibly didn't quite get to, 1500 miles in May.

Thanks for the voucher recommendations, will probably go with Amazon/cheque so I can spend at will - I really fancy something like these. I need some funky gear to brighten things up :)

ThursdayLast · 05/08/2014 08:25

They are v cool feet

postmanpatscat · 05/08/2014 10:49

Congrats Cinnamon!

Two 5k runs to add from me so another 6.2 miles.

Looks like I am entering the Royal Parks half in October as there's now a space in the team DP is running in. Just me and a load of scaffolders and health and safety bods!

emummy · 05/08/2014 12:07

So adding my 3 from this morning and those from postmanpatscat I think that makes 126.82. Very happy with mine today, my 2nd fastest 5k ever, and the fastest was on a flat course. Today's was along to big hill, then up and down it twice, then home again, so very pleased. Knackered but pleased!
And congrats on your news cinnamon, hope you keep well.

karatekimmi · 05/08/2014 13:10

Amazing improvement feet

Did a speed session before the club run last night, then the run leader's 6-7 km turned into a 10km run, so I was properly worn out last night!!

I love running with a club, very friendly, not competitive but very supportive and encouraging. Makes me a better runner, and have loads of new friends to gossip with!!

2.2 from Sunday which makes 11 days so far, just need to get out today.

135.02
