Edwinias I'm starting to get back into old clothes now too! Not all of them mind - I have a vast array of clothes sizes in my wardrobe Grin.

Cru and Chameleon you're nearly there...! Very exciting when you get into week 7/8 territory - probably my favourite weeks because I could see the end in sight!

Am off to the gym tonight to attempt to beat my treadmill 5k time...

CruCru
Your Mum's opinion disagrees with my experience.
I've not changed my eating habbits. I've been running 2-3 times a week for just over a year - usually only 5 km, but occasionally stretching that to 8km. I'm 8kg lighter, and smaller than I was last time I was this weight (ie last time I weight 76kg, there was no way my 12's would fit, now I'm in the largest of the 12 trousers, and buying some 12 tops).
Yes, its been very, very slow weigh loss. The cambridge diet girls at work have lost loads more in a much shorter time (and put most back on...), but for me, this is sustainable. Dieting isn't - I'm a miserable sod without cake, biscuits and chocolate!

Thanks all. Yes, I think this is probably a better (and more realistic) way of getting there than going on a bunch of diets. I'm going skiing next February and am really hoping that I'll be able to get back into some of my pre kids ski gear.

Also so my post above.

I've lost 10kg (about a stone and half) since end of april.

if my diet has changed at all it has been for the worse. I have a new dp sonce running and he likes his bacon and fry ups.

excercise definitely works.

W7r2 done ! I used the tip from a PP to have someone talk shit to them and it worked for me ! Grin
Signed up for a 5k in September now too - can't believe this is me !

Cru I definitely think this is a more realistic way to lose weight - I'm trying to only weigh myself once a month but had got to about a stone lost at the end of July, taking about 2 months to lose that. I don't think I've lost much more, if any, in August - too many holidays...! But it's the running that's doing it as I now no longer want to eat as much - I know how hard it is to burn off! Grin

Just back from the gym - did 5K in a whole minute less than last time! Grin

Hi everyone Smile.

I just did W5R1, it was fine - I preferred it to the W4 runs (too stoppy-starty Grin). The next run is 2x 8mins though, which is a little daunting.

EdwiniasRevenge · 21/08/2014 21:12

Well done wasting. I almost feel W5r1 feels too easy compared to week 4. Dunno if I'll grt out tomorrow as we have a family day out. We'll see though.

Envy of everyone's weight loss - I haven't lost any weight since starting running but I have not put on weight despite eating whatever I want Wink

Did a 5k run last night in torrential rain! It was hideous Grin Grin

ooh Spooky you are good! I'm thinking wine's in order tonight after coming back to work and going to the gym last night Grin.

Dp meanwhile, although she's at week 6, as opposed to me having finished the programme, still manages to cover more distance than me Envy. We're doing our first park run together on September 20th and I've told her to bugger off and run at her own pace, because I'll be waaaay too slow for her!

Hello. Posting for the moral support as about to do the third run of week 6 and I don't think I'll make it Confused

Go for it Iggi, just keep taking one step after another. And if you're struggling, just slow right down, but keep going.

Then come back and tell us all about how you did it Smile.

CruCru · 22/08/2014 18:19

Hey Iggi999, I agree. Just think how awesome you'll feel when you've done it.

W7R1 done. I covered 4.8 km according to Map my Run but I'm not sure whether it is all that accurate.

We're going to need a new thread soon.

I have a craving for cool new running gear. The stuff I ordered has turned up and it is awesome but now I really fancy getting one of these running jackets for autumn / winter.

Report
DottyDot · 22/08/2014 18:28

Iggi - you can do it! Just go really slowly if you have to - as long as you're moving, it counts...! Grin

Report
Iggi999 · 22/08/2014 19:01

Wow, thanks for the encouragement! Well, I did it - in the rain - and can honestly say it was easier than the 20 min one. When I ran for one minute in week 1 I thought I was going to die.

Everyone is doing so well! Isn't it funny how quickly it changes you, I never, ever thought I could run. So glad I started this.

I bought a jacket almost identical to try Nike link in Primark. It is black and pink, is super light weight yet keeps the rain out and is good in the wind and cost something ridiculous like £4 Grin

We are going to Florida in a couple of weeks so hoping for some running bargains there.

Report
CruCru · 22/08/2014 21:35

Well done iggi!

Wasting - I was thinking of pink, mainly because I am not very pink in my day to day stuff and I want a nice bright colour that cars can spot. Perhaps I'll put it on my Christmas list or perhaps I'll buy it.

CruCru · 23/08/2014 07:32

Ah, I appear to have ordered it. Shopping on your phone is dangerous.

Iggi999 · 23/08/2014 12:21

I suppose the more money you spend on running stuff, the more committed you will feel to keep going!
Bit worried I will be expected to do all-running in week 7 onwards, I liked the walking bits!

Well that us week 2 out if the way. Didn't enjoy today, struggled with the fifth run and my heart wasn't in it today Hmm

Dithering as to whether to rerun it in Monday or to attempt week 3 and see how I get on?

Also while in shopping mood what trainers can you recommend, I am flat footed and need some with some bounce if you know what I mean

Iggi999 · 23/08/2014 12:51

Hi Five! Long time no see Grin
I would suggest moving on, I got a massive high from getting through each stage, I haven't repeated any so far (start of week 7 now).
BUT wait and hear advice from the experts, I know some people have repeated and found it useful.
