Yes...no more walking after W6.

And week 5 has a scary 20min run non stop....

WastingMyYoungYears · 14/08/2014 12:06

ShockConfusedGrin

We'll be fine. Hopefully.

DottyDot · 14/08/2014 14:26

Blimey everyone's doing so well!

We arrived in Devon after a 5 hour car journey yesterday afternoon as the first thing I did was go for a run Grin. Was lovely to get out and run for a bit - did 5k but in 41 minutes, so fairly slow - had to stop and walk twice to catch my breath, but at least I got out and did it!

(Then proceeded to drink my body weight in red wine - am on holiday after all...!)

lovelidl am so impressed with your 10k non-stop! I covered 7k in total yesterday but didn't even think about running more than the 5k!!

CruCru · 14/08/2014 19:56

Okay, so W5R3 completed! 20 minutes of running although I did have to walk for about 30 seconds (it's very sunny here and uphill). I feel awesome but am now drinking white wine.

DottyDot · 14/08/2014 22:29

Yay Cru!! Feels so important to get that 20 minute run done - it's still my benchmark now - I tell myself if I can get to 20 minutes then anything else is a bonus!

Well done - and rest day tomorrow - hurrah! Grin

I might attempt another 5k tomorrow - the red wine keeps flowing so I have to do something good for my body in return....

lovelidl · 14/08/2014 23:53

Dotty - saying I 'ran' 10k maybe goes against trades description act....jog/shuffle maybe more appropriate?? Did it in 1.01.46 and my 10 splits were almost identical at just over 6 mins per km which is what I was aiming for so bloody pleased regardless of gait!

I got DH to drop me exactly 10k from home, I hadn't expected to do it without stopping. I knew I could do 5k without walking so did that, and then one more, and then another km, then there was only 3 left and I could nearly see water and a hot shower and wine so kept going to get it over with!

Well done everyone - it gets easier honest!

EdwiniasRevenge · 15/08/2014 02:34

lovelidl an hour for 10km is bloody brilliant. My neighbour who has run 2 marathons recently ran a 10km in 58mins.

WastingMyYoungYears · 15/08/2014 07:04

I'd be super-pleased if I could run 10k in an hour Smile.

WastingMyYoungYears · 15/08/2014 07:05

Gosh, whereabouts are you Edwinias? Or where you just up very late Grin?

spookyskeleton · 15/08/2014 07:36

Bloody hell lovelidl, that is a very fast 10k Shock Shock I am sure you do more than jog/shuffle at that pace. Be proud!!

Well done everyone else Smile

Hi all! I completed the c25k in 2012 and am now regularly attending parkruns. Parkrunners are sent a weekly newsletter and this month it included a link to a survey to help a study about the c25k. Anyone who has completed or is completing it can fill in the survery, so any interested can find it here. It has totally changed my life and anything that makes the plan more well known so more people can give it a go is great in book. Enjoy your running :)

EdwiniasRevenge · 15/08/2014 11:47

Woo! W4r1 isn't actually that bad.

I'd jave been happy if I did the first 3 runs. But I did them all!

And you lot are the first to find out. I haven't even got home to tell DP yet.

And I'm in the UK. I just couldn't sleep.

FitByForty · 15/08/2014 12:12

W4R2 done this morning. Took the kids with me on their scooters and they were great! Seemed to go much quicker with company and I surprised myself by actually being able to hold a conversation with them whilst I was running.

WastingMyYoungYears · 15/08/2014 13:28

Well done Edwinia and Fit Smile. I'm scared of W4R1 later today Grin...

FitByForty · 15/08/2014 13:52

It's honestly better than you think it's going to be Wasting

You'll be fab! Think positive Grin

Igggi · 15/08/2014 18:44

Hello, I am completely gate crashing as no one to share this with in real life who "gets" it - have just completed week 5's 20 mins run (at a snail's pace) and feeling quite proud of myself! I am very overweight and never thought I could do something like this. Best of luck to everyone out running tonight Grin

lynnoggs · 15/08/2014 18:59

Well done Igggy.... im on w5r2 tomo and looking forward to it... I too am very overweight and running at snails pace....but am doing it. today managed to do w5r1 but felt good and carried on running. did 4.2k in 45 mins.... not much faster than a walk. big well done tho to all who are doing it!! Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

MarysDressSways1 · 15/08/2014 19:12

Hi all! So glad there's a thread for this!
So I've just lost a load of weight (still trying) and so have started c25k for fitness.

I'm doin ok and have got up to week 4, did week 4 run 2 yesterday and I did find the 5mins difficult but I did them! Wasn't tooo painful. I think next week will be ok but the week after looks a bit scary (6). I haven't done exercise for yearsssss. Reassure me I won't puke!!

WastingMyYoungYears · 15/08/2014 20:12

Hi everyone SmileSmileSmile.

I just did W4R1 - I struggled a bit, but managed to complete it. I was wearing a long sleeved running top over a scruffy vest, which didn't help. And my knees still hurt like hell too (physio appointment next week).

If I've done it once, I can do it (twice) again though Grin.

Well done to everyone, it's really motivating to hear of everyone's successes. When I was struggling, I thought of you lot, and kept going Grin.

WastingMyYoungYears · 15/08/2014 20:15

Mary, I kept thinking Do I feel sick? during today's run Grin.

EdwiniasRevenge · 15/08/2014 22:05

I find you lot motivating too.

I want to come back and tell you all I cracked it. I don't want to come back and say I failed.

I also find that knowing that I did it last week is helping my faith grow and having faith that I can do it drives me forward.

On an aside- DP (armed forces so kind of knows a bit about fitness and trainig regimes and stuff) felt that the build up onthe C25K was too fast for me - faster than when he's on a rehab programme after injury - particularly this week. But I did it and proved him wrong.

bring on week 5 (after 2 more runs) at this point I feel I can handle anything :-)

lynn I did w4r1 too today and also felt I could have carried on. Wierd isn't it? On the 5 min runs I stopped "wanting to stop" about 3 mins in and it just became easy to keep going. I almost found the 3min runs tougher to get through physiologically.

WastingMyYoungYears · 16/08/2014 13:45

I have shiny new running shoes Smile. It wasn't even that embarrassing having the gait analysis done.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 16/08/2014 13:59

Can I rejoin? I started in July but DD ended up in hospital and things went a bit awry. Just completed week 1 so Monday will be W2R1, today felt really good, DC's on bike and dog and I could shout at them while keeping up a goodish pace.

WastingMyYoungYears · 16/08/2014 14:06

Hi Five (Grin). I love that you could shout at the kids while running Grin. I need someone to shout at while I run.

Watto1 · 16/08/2014 14:49

Welcome back five!

Literally just got back from my run. It was a good one! I'm definitely getting quicker. I do the same route every time and I had to do a little extra jog up my street to make it to 30 mins. Still nowhere near 5k in 30 mins though. I did 3.6k today.

Thinking of downloading 5k+ to do next week. Anyone tried it? I've got the half marathon on 1st March so I really need to get my distance and speed up pronto. I don't want to be that person coming over the finishing line last with knees buckling.
