Thought I would start a new thread for us to continue our chat Smile

I will give the podcast option a try & if not I might have to swap to a different app. Thanks for the advice - am also going to have to think about route as loads of flooding round by us - don't want to add too much to the challenge by running through a river!

Kasterborous · 10/08/2014 14:38

stillearnin I always wear the Lycra type shorts/leggings now, with a long top to run in. They reduce all my wobbly bits and don't chafe at all. I used to wear a pair of shorts over them, but now I think 'sod it, I don't care what anyone else thinks'.

Kasterborous · 10/08/2014 14:42

I've only done one very short run this week, the last three runs I've done have been difficult. It's not my legs or heart rate I just haven't been able to breathe. I've not been going any faster either. I think it must be because my asthma is playing up a bit at the moment. I've made sure I've been out for walks every day instead this week. I've missed being able to run.

Ive not looked at this thread for a week or so. Am going to have a read through it now

FitByForty · 10/08/2014 15:03

That sounds like a good plan Edwinias

I think I might get to the local running shop tomorrow for new trainers and then see how I get on with W4R1. If it's a total disaster I'll use one of your bridging plans.

I'm so determined to keep going this time. I've got one more week before we go on holiday and I'm even planning on taking my running things with me. This is unheard of!!

CruCru · 10/08/2014 15:04

Nice! Where are you going?

DottyDot · 10/08/2014 15:26

Chameleon - exciting! Grin When are you doing one? I've still got to register me and dp for September.

Got my pretend fitbit from Aldi this morning - have just about charged it and got it on - it's going to tell me off today though for not moving at all and drinking red wine

Last C25K run tomorrow! Going to do an outside run and then that's it for me for a few days as we're off to Devon on Wednesday for a week. I could squeeze a run or two in while we're there, but am not making any promises... Grin

ChameleonCircuit · 10/08/2014 15:39

Have a good holiday, Dotty. My running buddy is on holiday for a week so it'll be around a fortnight before we do a Parkrun, but now I've been assured it's not a problem if we have to walk a bit, I'm raring to go!

How much was your FakeBit? Grin

PrivateBenjamin · 10/08/2014 16:09

I did W1R3 (again) today because I didn't think my hunchback/ stitch run on Tuesday counted. I also realised that I have a fallen arch on one foot. I broke my ankle this winter and it's been playing up in different ways ever since. I have an appointment with a chiropodist on Wednesday, and have been doing some exercises I found online so hopefully she can fix me, then I can have my gait analysed and buy some superdooper running shoes.

Mapmyrun only mapped my run to the end of the street though (0.35km Hmm ) instead of the actual run. I went a different way because I thought it might be slightly longer too. Am annoyed!

What else does Aldi have for running? I only have one pair of leggings and just wear any old scruffy T shirt, it would be nice to look the part!

DottyDot · 10/08/2014 16:15

Fakebit was £29 - not entirely sure how it works so far, so will see how I get on Grin. It'll shout at me today for doing bugger all, but I'm back at work tomorrow and then doing my W9R3 run, so am hoping to impress it then...!

DottyDot · 10/08/2014 16:17

I think Aldi had running clothes but I didn't look too closely - was so taken with the fakebit. It definitely had cycling trousers (with padded bottom) as dp was thinking of getting some but already has 300 pairs...

lovelidl · 10/08/2014 16:38

All this talk of Aldi ShockShockShock fake fit bit does look good

I managed an hour of running slowly this morning. Still can't believe that I can do it. Also signed up for parkrun so gong to give that a bash next Saturday.

FitByForty · 10/08/2014 16:39

Sunny Portugal Cru. I'm planning for a bit of beach running if the wine doesn't write me off first Wink

DottyDot · 10/08/2014 16:46

ooh beach running will be hard - can barely walk on sand never mind walk..! Grin

DottyDot · 10/08/2014 16:47

oops -I mean run. Ahem. Red wine might be having an impact... Blush Grin

FitByForty · 10/08/2014 17:06

I'll be sticking to the wet stuff. Much too hard on the dry!

Oh God. Just realised I've virtually said this out loud now instead of just in my head so I will really have to do it now won't I ?!?!

Opheliabumps · 10/08/2014 17:58

I went for a run this afternoon and DD(4) wanted to join me on her scooter. Turns out she's quite some training partner, I ran 4.5km in 32 minutes, which is the furthest and longest I've managed so far!

She was on her scooter and I was frantically chasing her to get her to turn around and head for home Grin

spookyskeleton · 10/08/2014 21:43

Ooh all this chatter Grin

I really enjoyed my one parkrun that I have done and really want to try another one. It has been nearly 2 months since I did it so would love to go back to the same one to see if I have improved!

I bought some capri running pants from Sports Direct today. They are Karrimor ones and were 2 pairs for £18 so reasonable. I wanted some with a zip pocket at the back which these have and they had 3 different colours.

On a rest day today as did 3 x 5k's in 4 days and gym classes on the day I didn't run - woke up this morning with very painful calves Hmm

OP posts:
CruCru · 10/08/2014 21:56

Gosh, that's impressive Spooky.

stilllearnin · 10/08/2014 22:07

Keep me posted on the fake bit! Aldi did have some leggings, Capri leggings and some vests. It was supposed to have some better running socks (of which I bought a pair a few months back) but I couldn't see any.

Dotty I might see you in Devon over the next few weeks but you will be just a blur surely?!

spookyskeleton · 10/08/2014 22:09

It isn't really that impressive as 2 of the 5k's were very slow (for me) as I was supporting other runners to complete it so running at their pace Smile

OP posts:
EdwiniasRevenge · 10/08/2014 22:29

Just got in from w3r2 and I have to say it was infinitely easier than w3r1. I wasn't much faster but the run was much more comfortable. I kind of didn't want to stop at the end of my first 90sec segment and even the 3 mins weren't that tough to get to the end of even if they were slow.

Bring on the 5min runs in w4. They are feeling acheivable tonight :)

I run in full length Karrimor running tights. In fact I find uncomfortable runnig in tracksuit bottoms if they are in the wash. I usually wear a summer vest but I would like to buy a running vest. T shirt style sleeves annoy me but I can't part with my money when I see that the vests are more expensive than the t shirts.

I also need to buy a sports bra...

WastingMyYoungYears · 11/08/2014 10:03

Well done Edwinias Smile.

Grin at you railing against buying a vest due to the no-sleeves tax. Would it help if you thought of them as being techy and therefore a bit spenny?

spookyskeleton · 11/08/2014 11:36

edwinias I know I have said this before but check out H&M. I have got technical vests from there which are great and not too much £££. I am tall and they cover my bum so nice and long too Grin.

OP posts:
EdwiniasRevenge · 11/08/2014 11:40

I'm heading into town today so will vheck h&m.

Tbh I think they are only about £7 in sports direct. Its just bugging me.

DottyDot · 11/08/2014 19:43

Woohoo! W9R3 completed Grin

Can't quite believe it and it was a slower run than the last one, but I did it! Managed to cover 4.4k so my aim now is to keep going for runs every other day and try to improve my speed so that I can more easily get to 5k. And a parkrun in September!

And please can I stay on this thread as it's been so brilliant..?! Grin. Was really wanting to stop running at one point tonight but thought of you lot and couldn't bring myself to have to report back that I'd stopped, so I didn't...!

Happy happy Grin
