Right then, that's W9R2 done! Grin.

Can't believe I'm so near to the end!!!

CruCru · 09/08/2014 13:26

Oh wow, that is exciting! What are you going to do next?

DottyDot · 09/08/2014 15:42

Well I want to be able to run 5k in 30 minutes so I'm planning to keep running every other day, alternating gym and outside world - have got gym membership for a year until next June so might do more gym over the winter Grin. Dp will finish the programme in September so we're planning to do a park run after that.

Really want to keep going so I can keep losing weight - I've lost a stone over the 9 weeks but another 3 would be good...! Blush

lovelidl · 09/08/2014 17:46

Had a very lazy week - not much running and lots of eating Blush

Put on 2lb at our office 'fat club' so back on it!

Went out for a 5k run and did 8k in 50 mins! Now to occupy myself all evening without help from the biscuit tin...

WastingMyYoungYears · 09/08/2014 18:08

Okay. I have a fat tummy - I'm probably about a stone overweight, so I think I'd like to do something alongside C25K to focus on my tummy region as well. Does anyone have any suggestions?

God, don't make me do the Shred Confused.

Kasterborous · 09/08/2014 19:39

stillearnin no it's not the fitbit type one I've got. Mine is a watch with a separate heart rate monitor, it's designed to be used just when you go for a run not all the time. The fitbit does sound good.

I've hopefully included a picture of the one I've got. Our local Aldi still had one left last week.

Go Dotty Grin Grin

WastingMyYoungYears · 09/08/2014 21:01

I just did W3R1 Smile - it was okay, but my knees are pretty sore. I'm going to go to see my GP or a physiotherapist as I don't want to damage them irreversibly!

Does anyone know what speed in km/hour a walk and a slow jog (Blush) are on a treadmill? I might go to the gym for my next run.

EdwiniasRevenge · 09/08/2014 21:03

Well done wasting

on the treadmill I walk at about 5.5km/hr and run at 7.5-8km/hr.

having said that I don't treadmill often and find it more tiring so I might be going too fast.

WastingMyYoungYears · 09/08/2014 21:15

Thanks Edwinias, that's helpful to know.

DottyDot · 09/08/2014 21:39

I try to walk on the treadmill at 6kph but find it much more comfortable at about 5.8kph! I run at about 7.5kph on the treadmill, but outside seem to be able to run slightly faster.

CruCru · 09/08/2014 22:08

Wasting - what trainers do you have? How old are they?

WastingMyYoungYears · 09/08/2014 22:28

Cru, I have Brooks (I think) running trainers, but they're really old (although not really worn). I'm going to do the whole gait analysis / new pair thing though.

WastingMyYoungYears · 09/08/2014 22:31

Really old as in 5 years+.

DottyDot · 10/08/2014 09:16

it opens at 10am, people!

Grin
FitByForty · 10/08/2014 10:06

Well that's W3 R3 done. I won't lie. Found it a bit of a struggle. Probably the worst run I've had so far. Really struggled with the last 30 seconds of the last 3 minute run. So much that I gave in and stopped before I should. Feel a bit disappointed in myself now. And certainly can't imagine being able to do the 5 min runs next time!!

Still having some niggly back pains so going to check out some new trainers I think. Mine are pretty old too Wasting but not really worn either. Only on my previous attempts to do C25K Grin

CruCru · 10/08/2014 10:33

Argh! I really want to go running but it's really stormy in the IoW and my bloody neck is playing up again .

Tootssweet · 10/08/2014 11:16

Can anyone help please? My running has stalled as for some reason the NHS couch to 5k won't load week 2 & beyond on my iPhone. I have tried re-installing but no joy - can anyone advise or suggest an alternative? I am quite Hmm - was getting used to Laura's dulcet tone.

ChameleonCircuit · 10/08/2014 11:35

Try Zenlabs C25K, Toots. I'm using that, you can use your own playlists too.

EdwiniasRevenge · 10/08/2014 11:42

tootsweet could you download it to a laptop and transfer it via iTunes?

fitbyforty admitedly I'm only on w3r2 (if it stops raining) today I'm feeling a bit scared by the jump to w4 because of the jump in amount of running involved (16mins compared to 9mins in w3.

After managing to do the first w3 run at first attempt I am going to have faith and try it when I get there. I do already have a plan to bridge between w3 and w4 if need be. I will do something like the following

3min run
3min walk
3min run
3min walk
3min run

this would be the same amount of running as week w3 but with different intervals

And the/or maybe

3min run
2min walk
3min run
2min walk
3min run
2min walk
3min run

This would be 12 mins running to ease towards W4 it is also shorter recovery walks to easr towards W4.

so I feel like there are options to bridge to w4. I have an interval timer app that I could use to set the timings but I would miss Laura.

EdwiniasRevenge · 10/08/2014 11:42

. I also have the first twinges of cystitis so bit worried about needing the loo while I'm out running. It might have to be a treadmill session today which I don't find as easy.

ChameleonCircuit · 10/08/2014 12:56

Eeek! I accidentally registered for Parkrun!

stilllearnin · 10/08/2014 12:57

Reporting back from Aldi. I didn't get the fit bit thing but I'm still thinking about it! But got the Capri pants for the hot weather Hmm and they are lightweight but my daughter assures me they have the wobble factor under control! Well comfy. Oh I am 16/18 and I got large and they fit well.

On the fat tummy front(!) I don't think the shred is that good for abs. My waist is the only bit that tones easily. I love the shred but there's not too much in it for the abs. I've tried her 6 pack thingy but for me it's too fast to engage your muscles properly, but you could try it on you tube. I actually use a book with a day by day program - cant link but it's by Anne Marie Milland, firm abs in only 30 days! It's ancient but it works for me!

stilllearnin · 10/08/2014 13:00

Oh I don't use an app I just down load the nhs podcasts from iTunes using my iPod- could that work?

CruCru · 10/08/2014 13:50

W5R1 completed! I ran 3.56 km but it was on wet grass, up and down hills and in the wind so not too bad. Plus my long sleeved running top got its first outing [shallow].
