Thought I would start a new thread for us to continue our chat Smile

Yep, it was me asking about tingling legs. Think it might just be my poor underused body repairing itself.

ChameleonCircuit · 05/08/2014 22:15

Been out tonight and done W6R1. A couple of times I started to lose control of my breathing but gave myself a talking to and pulled it back again. My running buddy is going on holiday for a week so I'll be on my own for W6R3 Confused. Not sure how that'll pan out.

WastingMyYoungYears · 05/08/2014 22:18

Oh, thanks CruCru Smile. I might go trainer shopping in that case.

CruCru · 05/08/2014 22:37

I've noticed that some of you have said how far they've run. How do you know? Do you have a running app on your phone?

DottyDot · 05/08/2014 22:39

I've got an app for running outside - it's called Map My Run and tells you how far you've run and at what speed - and it gives you info every 5 minutes as you're running if you want it to!

CruCru · 05/08/2014 22:41

Ah wicked, thanks Dotty. Can you run it at the same time as the podcasts?

Tootssweet · 05/08/2014 22:52

Am I ok to join please? I did W1R3 this morning and I think I might need the motivation from you all to help me keep it up. I am on holiday at the moment so have some beautiful scenery to inspire me but will no doubt find it harder when I am back home.

I did have a comedy moment where two police officers pointed the speed trap gun at me just as I was getting into my stride on my first run. They didn't tell me how fast I was going but they weren't in a rush to give me 3 points either!

I will have my first W2 run here so hope it goes ok. I have got a really sore hip but think that is just because I am so overweight & lazy!

DottyDot · 05/08/2014 23:16

Cru yes you can Smile

DottyDot · 05/08/2014 23:19

Hi Toots! Good luck with week 2 - it's harder to keep motivated during the holidays (I'm finding!) and I also have a sore hip - but it's sore all the time so the running doesn't seem to be making it too much worse and I'm hoping that with a bit of luck, losing some weight might start to help..?!

EdwiniasRevenge · 06/08/2014 00:14

Welcome toots there are a few of us that are on W2.

I use Strava to track my runs. I find it motivational to see how much further I have run compared to previous attempts.

CruCru · 06/08/2014 07:51

Hi Toots!

ChameleonCircuit · 06/08/2014 12:13

I use Strava too. It can be a tad temperamental though.

stilllearnin · 06/08/2014 12:31

well, chameleon I can't say I liked it much, but i did it! i had very little time so I just did the c25k+ speed podcast but at least I have decided that I need to keep on top.

ophelia i got up to 10k and had to stop through an unrelated injury. I tried to get back on it at least twice but i started too far into the program. I remember that I managed each run but it was hard and I got demotivated. I finally cracked it by going right back to week1. Perhaps you could try going back to an earlier week. I think anything up to about w4 could be run together so maybe do 1 run from each week in order. That way you would be ready for your 5k in time. (does any of that make sense?)

CruCru · 06/08/2014 12:50

W4R2 done! Think I need to get some new trainers as I keep rolling onto the outside of my feet.

Map my Run said I did 3.52 km in total.

CruCru · 06/08/2014 15:31

Awesome - new running shoes bought. I had to have men's ones as I have super wide feet.

ChameleonCircuit · 06/08/2014 16:57

Join the club, CruCru. I had to have size 8.5 extra wide men's trainers. Smile

CruCru · 06/08/2014 18:10

The women's only came in a B width but the men's came in a D width. Just means I have blue rather than pink edging.

spookyskeleton · 06/08/2014 22:14

How has everyone got on today?

I went out to do the 5k run that I trained on for my C25K, haven't run it for 2 months. I did it in 34.5 minutes which is almost 3 minutes faster than I have run it before Grin

Funny thing is that I felt like I was running much faster so I was a bit disappointed to find that it was only about 30 seconds per km faster. lovelidl I honestly don't know how you run it so fast - you must feel like you are flying Wink Wink

spooky I think that's bloody fast going! Rest day today for me and then my first 30 minute run tomorrow... Shock

stilllearnin · 06/08/2014 22:55

Go dotty Grin

Opheliabumps · 06/08/2014 23:22

Argh! I have got a fungal infection in my big toenail which has spread to my toe, so it's sore and swollen. I have got some antibiotics but it was too sore to run today. I also think I'm likely to lose the nail, although the doctor said I shouldn't stop running, as if I'm going to lose it, I will anyway, it 'll just take a bit longer if I don't run (mind, he's a marathon runner so a very committed runner who lost a toenail during a marathon and carried on running!).

ChameleonCircuit · 07/08/2014 09:10

Well at least you know his advice is from experience, Ophelia! Grin

DottyDot · 07/08/2014 11:22

AAARRGGHHH!!!! Guess what, guess what??! Turns out I run faster outside..! Just done an outside run for the first time since week 5 and I did 5km in 39 minutes!!

Ahem. Very excited Blush. So W9R1 completed and 5k covered but that includes the warm up/down walks! But at least I feel I could do a park run without too much shame...

Just wish I could breathe a bit more quietly while I run - I really do huff and puff! Grin

Wonc · 07/08/2014 11:48

I am only on week 2, but I am finding I have so much more energy.

I'm on a rest day today and DD and I had an hour to spare so we walked up and down a tower. This is so not me! I am a couch-dweller who eats chocolate. I don't recognise myself, but I like it. I hope it lasts!

DottyDot · 07/08/2014 12:45

Wonc me too! I've just cut up a load of fruit for lunch and dp has just said "who are you again..?!" Grin I've got lots more energy - particularly on non-run days. I wish I was losing weight a bit faster, but it's coming off slowly, so I just have to be patient - it's punishment for spending the last couple of years eating and drinking as much as I could..!
