Logging my daily JM fix and getting advice and motivation has been great over the past two months so here is a thread for all those of you who want to do the same again or for the first time. Come on, summer's nearly here and your butt's got Jillian's name on it Smile

Although my attendance is patchy, I ran for the train last week and I was noticeably quicker and less gasping for air so it's definitely doing something even if it's not decreasing my weight!

AmeliaToppingLovesShopping · 05/05/2014 22:54

I did day 1 of level 2 today. Parts of it were fine but some of the moves that needed shoulder strength defeated me today. Up again early to do it all over again.

At the moment I think I prefer level one, but it was getting a bit easier and I have done it quite a few times now over the years! Hopefully level 2 will grow on me.

ErrolTheDragon · 05/05/2014 23:16

It's nice when you find that some real-life activity is easier Smile. My feat last month was weeding the entire garden and not having any aches afterwards - squats and lunges instead of bending over or kneeling! Grin

Babesh · 06/05/2014 00:37

Well I should have done day 7 I think of level one today but went for a run instead. I have been secretly scared of running round the park as I hate starting running, it's always so hard... Well my watch wouldn't light, my phone was flat so don't know how long it took and didn't do couch to 5k as I planned but I ran round the park 4.5 times plod plod plod.

It's about 2.5 km so got further than I thought I would. Could have done the extra.5 but the dog can't poo on lead and was desperate to stop ( that is my excuse anyway). Anyway I credit the shred with so how making my first run easier:) I could hear the mighty Gillian intoning during the inclines!

Don't get off the wagon hinkyhonk, I always get off the wagon but not this time! What motivates me? When I exercise I eat better and drink less, I want to be around for the children ( and self obviously although self lacks discipline and loves whisky) and want to be a fit sporty mum running, swimming, canoeing, and playing with them as they grow up. Dunno how old you are but I think if I get and stay fit the next twenty years 40-60 will be greatly enhanced.

Babesh · 06/05/2014 00:39

Just to clarify I only did 2.5km total not 4.5 times as I seem to claim above -seven Gillian sessions are good but not that good!

StuntNun · 06/05/2014 06:43

Gwladys you can get sets of 1, 2 and 3 kg dumbbells at Argos, Tesco etc. I use them all, I need the 1 kg ones for the jumping jacks with weights, the 2 kg for most others and the 3 kg for some of the static exercises like the one where you hold them over your chest while you do leg raises.

Amelia the plank jacks on level 2 are really tough at first but you feel so proud of yourself when you can do them at last.

AmeliaToppingLovesShopping · 06/05/2014 08:17

I have the 1, 2 and 3k weights, from Argos I think. At the moment I'm sticking to a combination of 1 and 2.

Just done L2D2 and can definitely feel I'm working my shoulders and upper arms! Those planks are hard!

ErrolTheDragon · 06/05/2014 08:23

They're a good starting set for these high rep routines. 1kg for anterior raises, maybe try 3s for bicep curls/chest flies, 2s for most of the rest. I noticed a set in TK max which started at 0.5 - really wouldn't bother with that since the water bottles/cans work fine for that weight if you need to start there.

yadahyadah · 06/05/2014 10:01

Rin30 L2D1 missed yesterday as lots of bank hol walking on the agenda. Great results everyone. Very motivating.

30DS L1D2 ow ow ow ooooooooooooow. That is all.

ErrolTheDragon · 06/05/2014 10:42

MsInga - typically people ache badly for 3-4 days and then it wears off and it's never as bad again... which is a good reason to keep going! Smile

MsIngaFewmarbles · 06/05/2014 10:48

I hope it does wear off, I hurt everywhere from the neck down.

GwladysFrightandthePups · 06/05/2014 11:00

I feel your pain MsInga. Day 2 hurt waaaaay more than day 1. And the baby woke up at the end so I couldn't even have a little lie down. Ouch ouch ouch.

I'll try to get some proper weights then. Hopefully these aches will have died down slightly by the time I use them!

AmeliaToppingLovesShopping · 06/05/2014 11:01

If I haven't done the shred in a while I leave it a few days between day 1 and day 2. After that I don't really ache again.

AmeliaToppingLovesShopping · 06/05/2014 11:02

Saying that my shoulders are really aching today, stupid planks! :)

Babesh · 06/05/2014 11:24

I ached dreadfully on day 2 and have been fine since other than a pleasant I have used my muscles feeling. Honestly day two was awful I was incredibly crabby and coukd barely pick my toddler up!

tabulahrasa · 06/05/2014 11:32

The first time I did it, I literally couldn't walk for days, well I mean I could, but only comically Hmm. There's no way I could do it again while I couldn't move, so I waited until I could and tried again. It's never been like that since, occasionally a tiny bit achy, but not like that.

GwladysFrightandthePups · 06/05/2014 11:35

The baby keeps wanting to stand and be bounced on my knee - he doesn't seem to understand that mummy's too knackered for that today! You'd think he'd be a little more considerate, after all, it's his fault I'm in this mess...!

GandTnow · 06/05/2014 16:53

Just done level 4 of Ripped - ha ha ha!

So hard and much faster than the other levels, still a bit shaky!

Don't know what to try next. I've done shred and really love the fact that it is only 20 mins - any suggestions?

ErrolTheDragon · 06/05/2014 17:12

G&T - well, after I'd done Ri30 I went back to shred but using bigger weights more of the time and more natalie.

You could try NMTZ - you don't have to do the whole thing, you could pick different combinations of the circuits to fit the time you want to spend.

BetterWithCheese · 06/05/2014 20:29

Did 30DS L1D8 yesterday and D9 today. I wasn't even planning on doing it today but I really wanted to-how very bizarre. I'm sure level 2 will kill that enthusiasm Grin.

PrivateBenjamin · 06/05/2014 20:45

I did L1D10 today. I've heard horrible things about level 2. Will I be completely immobilised by pain the day after? Cause I have to drive to work so need my arms and legs to work. If it's going to kill me I'll just do Level 1 until Friday then I can recover at the weekend.

leesmum · 06/05/2014 20:49

Better you and i are on the same stage, i did 30DS L1 D9 today so only 1 more day on L1, i think im ready for a change but have heard a lot of comments about how hard L2 is!!! but i'm also sick of hearing "Abs like these don't come for free" ....please tell me she doesn't keep saying this in L2 and L3 too!

leesmum · 06/05/2014 20:50

Private i must have missed your post...you can let us know tomorrow how it goes Grin good luck!

AreYouFeelingLucky · 06/05/2014 21:09

I did the first day of Ripped in 30 today. It hurt. I couldn't keep up with the cardio a lot of the time, and some of the sit ups hurt! I'm severely lacking stomach tone at the moment, though.

When do I repeat? I presume tomorrow, but it doesn't actually say :s
