Logging my daily JM fix and getting advice and motivation has been great over the past two months so here is a thread for all those of you who want to do the same again or for the first time. Come on, summer's nearly here and your butt's got Jillian's name on it Smile

Well done Tabulah what a great feeling. I would bet that out of all the people that start the shred only 1% or less actually get through all 30 days so well done you! Good luck with Ri30.

yadahyadah · 29/05/2014 12:52

Congratulations Tabulahraza. You did it! Join me in JM love and butt cheek pain in Ri30.

Well done tabulahrasa

"Join me in JM love and butt cheek pain in Ri30."

Hmm, that sounds fun Hmm lol.

I'm actually really pleased with myself that I did the whole thing...even with repeats, I'm not really an exercise person at all, I walk my dog and do as little as possible the rest of the time, but I definitely feel better for it and I'm a better shape, even if my six pack is still invisible, lol

BiffBaffBuduff · 29/05/2014 16:42

Lambzig you're right... I do circuit training once a week, but I had no idea it was having any effect. Thankfully a lot of the exercises are similar so I didn't have to spend ages sussing out where to put my limbs! Am hoping doing this everyday will make a difference to the belly flab which is refusing to budge (prob because I've been eating too much cake) Grin

Lambzig · 29/05/2014 16:55

Congrats tabulah, glad your joining us for RI30. I think it's more fun to do so be interested to hear what you say.

Yadah, I have envy of Jillians teeny little crossover bra tops (she clearly loves them and has one in every colour), but console myself as I strap on my industrial shock absorber that she will probably get saggy bouncing around in that.

MegBusset · 29/05/2014 19:44

I fell over at work today (epic fall onto gravel path) and have totally bruised one of my knees :(

Do you think I'm likely to injure myself if I attempt to shred tomorrow?

TorianaTollywobbles · 29/05/2014 20:06

30DS L2 D8 done.

Argh when does it start to get easier? And when do you start seeing changes? Can't see any real changes in my body yet, or lost any inches. Please tell me I will when I've finally finished it!

Can't see me getting a six pack though, still well too covered by a layer of fat Sad

BetterWithCheese · 29/05/2014 23:21

30DS L3D7 done - only three days left.

Well done tabulah, it's been helpful following you along the way. Now you can show me the way on Ri30 as well Smile. Like you I have no six pack yet. I don't really want one but a flattish stomach would be nice.

Lambzig · 30/05/2014 10:02

RI30 L3D3 done. Ouch, ouch, ouch. The consecutive days killed me, my arms are soooo weak.

Yadah, or anyone else doing this, I wanted to ask, am I right in thinking circuit 1 strength, exercise 3, the squat row things only gets repeated once?

Toriana, the inches fell off me in level 3, it was like I suddenly snapped in. Haven't lost much weight at all though despite low carb boot camping at the same time for the last few weeks, those numbers on the scale will not go down.

AnyaKnowIt · 30/05/2014 10:04

Could that be because muscle weighs more then fat?

yadahyadah · 30/05/2014 10:21

Ri30 D4L3 done. I find the first circuit hardest with the crawl/duck walk thing and then the squat jacks straight after. That said, none of it is a cake walk. Lambzig you are right, that curl /row combo only happens once so I guess I have to remember to switch arms daily...

I found I lost inches from hips, legs and arms after Shred but nowt from the tummy. It looked a lot more toned tho weirdly. But then I started Ripped and also have done 5:2 and I think things are changing. The bagel seems to be shrinking Wine. My tummy holds on to fat longest so I guess that is my own personal challenge Angry.

That is why I have BFBM in my sights for when I finish Ripped. I read somewhere that cardio is best for fat loss as opposed to toning based spot reduction. Take that bagel belly.

Lambzig you and me both on the industrial strength Shock Absorber. Do you find that when you try and take it off it sort of threatens to trap you forever for just a few seconds too long before you manage to get the dratted thing off. It has to be the least attractive thing ever. JM's funky tops are so lovely. Sigh. The cow.

Megbusset if you do do it, take it super easy on the lunges and high knees style cardio stuff. Perhaps best to take the weekend off starting from now (yay) and have a go on Mon depending on how your knee feels.

Lambzig · 30/05/2014 10:30

I'm not sure the muscle weighs more than fat thing adds up. I probably just eat too much. I have to be on a beach in three and a bit weeks and had really hoped to lose a bit of the tummy fat.

Yadah, interesting about BFBM, perhaps I will rethink the kettlebell thing.

I live in fear of getting stuck in that bra and often get DH to pull me out of it if he is around.

AnyaKnowIt · 30/05/2014 11:36

No, you are right about the muscle/weight thing, but after a bit of googling it seems to be quite common. A few websites have suggested to not weight yourself but look in a mirror to see the changes.

30DSL2D2 done so now a weekend off Grin

BetterWithCheese · 30/05/2014 11:39

30DS L3D8 done, almost there. It felt like I was never going to get through it today,I got interrupted by the dog, my 3 year old and then the baby woke from her nap very early.

In terms of weightloss I think I've averaged a lb a week but some weeks none some weeks 2, etc. I've lost 4 inches off my waist though but as I had a baby 5 months ago it was bigger than it had ever been.

Imogen I found level 1 the worst for sore joints. I'm not sure if it's the moves themselves or that the muscles supporting your joints get stronger so they hurt less on later levels. Maybe a bit if both. Just keep an eye on it and modify when you need to.

tabulahrasa · 30/05/2014 11:41

Ri30L1D1

Fun? Hmm The reverse plank, hollow thingy...dear god!!!

Also, the running man (which is not a running man) I can't get my arms and legs working in opposites, lol.

I was expecting it to be a step down with being the first level - and it is in a way, but it's not easy, I'm now a bit scared of the other levels, lol

Re weight loss and noticing a difference, I've been dieting for a while and I'm not losing weight any quicker - I do have muscles in my arms now (they were mostly bingo wing before) then my shoulders looked slimmer and my thighs and bum...my stomach isn't shifting as fast, but I'm convinced there must be muscles in there somewhere and it is smaller, just not as noticeable as everywhere else.

I notice myself being fitter though, walking is not as tiring...that make it sound like I couldn't walk, I mean because I walk a few miles a day with the dog, lol, and I went out on Saturday night and I really noticed a difference when I was dancing and I walked home and wasn't half dead the next day.

BetterWithCheese · 30/05/2014 11:47

Yeah, I think I look like I've lost more weight than I have and I definitely look more toned. I'm also less negative about my body as I'm impressed it can do as much as it can!

Lambzig · 30/05/2014 11:54

I did say more fun (in a twisted way).

tabulahrasa · 30/05/2014 12:01

Too late, I was expecting fun and it was hard...I'm sulking now, lol

Ach it was alright actually, I'm just a bit scared of how much harder it's going to get seeing as level one isn't much easier than I was finding level three of 30DS, less 'I think I might collapse' but not exactly easy.

MegBusset · 30/05/2014 13:04

Well I had a lie in instead of shredding this morning, but knee felt ok once I was up, so I shoved the DC on Minecraft and did L3 before lunch.

Knee was fine, in fact the teeny graze I got on one hand was much more bothersome as it hurt disproportionately during all the plank/push up moves!

MegBusset · 30/05/2014 13:05

I am finding the weight/tummy is shifting a bit more now I'm on L3. It has been slow (but steady) going thus far - I don't have a huge amount to lose so that's probably why.

yadahyadah · 30/05/2014 14:47

Tabulahrasa don't fret, pet. My first three days of Ri30 felt like a bit of a mind crash too. Without question it is an intense workout and it is a good 10 mins longer in duration than you are used to as a Shredder. But you will find that your body will just adapt to it over the next few days. Try not to get negative about it and remember that even if you do all the easy versions in a half-arsed way, it's still going to be better for you than not doing it at all. Good luck.

TorianaTollywobbles · 30/05/2014 16:50

Thanks for all your reassuring comments. I too seem to put all my fat on my stomach so I guess that will be the last to go. I think my arms are starting to look more toned, so onto L3 next week. Should be able to manage the 10 days till we go on holiday, then I think I'll start it again after we come back, as will probably put some weight on on holiday. Or maybe I need to try another like the Ri30.

I actually don't really need to lose any weight as such but I think we all have those few last pounds we want to get rid of that just won't shift!

Right onto L2 D9

ImogenQuy · 30/05/2014 20:14

30DSL2D1 done. Ankles still very sore, so I had to do modified versions of some of it (no hope of doing those double jump ropes for a bit), and I'm hopelessly uncoordinated so some bits (like the oblique twists) aren't happening in the way they should! Congratulations to everyone who's actually finished the Shred: I can't see me ever getting to L3 at this rate and the mere thought of RI30 fills me with The Fear. I'm going to take tomorrow as a rest day and hope the ankles improve.
