Logging my daily JM fix and getting advice and motivation has been great over the past two months so here is a thread for all those of you who want to do the same again or for the first time. Come on, summer's nearly here and your butt's got Jillian's name on it Smile

OP posts:

I thought about doing something like that, but I thought starting RI30 at beginner level first was a bit more achievable for me.

So longterm I'm thinking, move on to RI30, then back to 30DS with bigger weights and trying the more advanced moves and then doing the same with RI30.

I'm still finding it fairly hard going just lifting me, rofl...just to put it into perspective I'm a size 16, 8 months ago I was a size 22 - so I'm going for slowly and gently so it's sustainable and trying to make it (exercise I mean) a habit rather than anything quick and dramatic.

Lambzig · 21/05/2014 13:26

Cant believe RI30 is longer, it feels shorter as its less boring to me.

I moved from 30DS doing mainly on the easier version to RI30. I would get too bored doing it again and am really enjoying RI30. I think if you have done 30DS you can move quite easily to the advanced exercise, but because its mainly different exercises to RI30 and certainly a different mix, its still challenging.

I am keen to try her new kettlebell workout next, but very confused as to what size kettlebell to get.

No session for me to today as left for work at 5.30am and wont be back until 8. I am not a morning exerciser.

Tabulah thats an amazing body change, well done. I wonder if I can show my sister your post as she feel at size 24, she has 'gone too far' to make any changes now.

tabulahrasa · 21/05/2014 13:38

Oh show her whatever you want :)

I'm 5 ft 8 so a 22 on me is really quite heavy - I'm just a bit happier using clothes sizes rather than how much I actually weighed as it's a shockingly high number, lol.

I've tried things on and off over the years and I either give up very quickly because they're unrealistic, or I've list a bit but not actually changed my lifestyle so it creeps back on again. But I joined slimming world and finding it very easy to do.

The exercise is me trying to actually change what I do and trying to be more toned rather than just thinner but still wobbly, lol.

AnyaKnowIt · 21/05/2014 15:57

My Dvd has arrived done the first video.

ErrolTheDragon · 21/05/2014 17:31

Getting an exercise habit will help you get the fat off and keep it off - the JMs are good for combining HIIT and muscle building

ImogenQuy · 22/05/2014 07:00

L1D4. I'm quite impressed with myself having got up half an hour earlier each morning to get this done - I am not a morning person. The slightly depressing thing is that I seem to be putting on weight: I wasn't particularly interested in losing any, but didn't bargain for actually gaining!

MegBusset · 22/05/2014 07:34

It's quite common to put on weight for the first few days - your muscles take on water as they start to repair themselves. Stick with it and you should soon see it going the other way (unless you are eating a chocolate muffin after your workout)

BetterWithCheese · 22/05/2014 10:59

Day 1 of Level 3 done. I feel ok now but found the first circuit really hard. I thought I was quite good at those superman thingies but I don't think I've ever done so any in a row - killed me. Also I feel like I have cement shoes on during the rock star jumps Confused. I'm sure it'll get better, eventually Smile

BetterWithCheese · 22/05/2014 11:04

Well done, Imogen, keep going. Even though I'm calorie counting I didn't lose any weight at the start but it's started coming off now and I can see that l look better, my jeans are looser and most importantly to me, I feel stronger. It's a great payoff for 25ish minutes a day.

Lambzig · 22/05/2014 11:56

RI30 L2D7 done. I might do another couple of days at this level as I still struggle on the squat thrusts and I'm scared of L3

Yesterday, I thought I would try and wear a favourite pair of work trousers that I hadn't worn for five summers as was either pregnant or they were too small. They were absolutely massive, fell down past my hips. I've been so critical of my post two babies body, but it must be more toned than before DC. Thank you Jillian.

tabulahrasa · 22/05/2014 13:04

30DSL3D5

Imogen - as I said, I am losing weight, but doing 30DS hasn't really made much difference to how I'm losing, but I feel better and it's definitely changed my shape...I've just had to pull my trousers up after every jump, they were bought 4 weeks ago and fitted me then, I've only lost about 5 or 6 pounds in that time, not enough to change sizes and they're falling down, that's got to be the exercising - so if you don't need to lose weight, don't worry about it and just see how you get on after you settle down.

I still can't do rock star jumps, lol, I kind of approximate it for a bit and then do double jump ropes.

Other than that level 3 is ok, a bit sweatier, but easier to do I think.

ImogenQuy · 22/05/2014 13:18

No chocolate muffins Smile. Nothing's changed except that I've started the Shred. It's reassuring to know others have had the same experience!

AnyaKnowIt · 22/05/2014 16:08

Second day done and I'm still alive Grin

BetterWithCheese · 23/05/2014 11:43

Glad you've survived, Anya. I found it really hard at the start, I could barely move for days after the first workout but it's never been as bad as that again.

30DS L3D2 done. This one seems to go by the fastest, I think it's all that jumping. On the other levels I was usually somewhere between Anita and Natalie oftenore Natalie but not on this one, I'm Anita all the way.

AnyaKnowIt · 23/05/2014 11:52

Just done day 3 really starting to ache now. Think I'll take the weekend off.

ErrolTheDragon · 23/05/2014 13:12

The first 3-4 days are the worst for sure. 1-2 rest days per week is ideal, I always take the weekend off. Give those aching muscles a chance to repair! Smile

AnyaKnowIt · 23/05/2014 13:36

That's sounds like a good plan errol!

ImogenQuy · 23/05/2014 16:24

L1D5 here. I'm also going to take the weekend off to recuperate!

TorianaTollywobbles · 23/05/2014 19:19

30DS L2 D4 done - when does it start to get easier? Finding it hard going, cannot do those chair squat arm raise things with weights. Usually have to put the weights down for the second set as shoulders are killing!

On the plus side though am managing the walk down to push ups Grin

tabulahrasa · 23/05/2014 19:38

30DSL3D6... I'm now trying to decide if I'm having the whole weekend off or just Sunday, I should really do tomorrow as I had Monday off already, but I'm feeling lazy and I've got stuff on, lol.

Toriana - I didn't find those arm raises got much easier at all, hopefully that was just me though and you'll get better at then.

TorianaTollywobbles · 23/05/2014 19:54

I hope so, tabulahrasa. My weights are only 1.5kg but I still struggle.

Going to try and do Sat/Sun then have Mon as a rest day. I'll be ready for it.

tabulahrasa · 23/05/2014 20:13

Blush mine are only 1kg and they killed my arms, lol

tabulahrasa · 24/05/2014 12:05

30DSL3D7...god, I'm actually near the end!

Lambzig · 24/05/2014 15:56

RI30 L2D8. I really should move up to level 3, but I am still finding this so hard.

PrivateBenjamin · 24/05/2014 16:29

30DS L2 D10 Back on it after having six a couple of days off last week due to being super busy.

Toriana Those chair squats with arm raises are still almost impossible for me too. Is it the same muscles as the side lunge with anterior raise from level 1? Cause I couldn't do them either. Must be lacking an anterior arm muscle.
