Logging my daily JM fix and getting advice and motivation has been great over the past two months so here is a thread for all those of you who want to do the same again or for the first time. Come on, summer's nearly here and your butt's got Jillian's name on it Smile

Yes I do remember my left arm rolling away and going smack on my face at one point. Don't do that. I had to get the technique on my knees a couple of times before moving up to a full plank.

AnyaKnowIt · 27/05/2014 15:49

Silly question but how do you know when you are ready for the next level?

tabulahrasa · 27/05/2014 17:11

You're supposed to do each level for ten days - that's why I keep track on here, so I know where I am, lol.

But sometimes if you're still struggling it might be an idea to stay on that level for a bit longer...or start again because you took a week off and can't cope with moving up like me, lol.

AnyaKnowIt · 27/05/2014 17:55

That makes sense thanks

StuntNun · 27/05/2014 21:07

30DS L1D33 done. I luffs being back on level 1 again. Grin

PrivateBenjamin · 27/05/2014 21:47

30DS L3 D1 done. What the hell is up with the balancing on the weights in a plank move?! That's like something you have to do to get into the marines. Thank God for Anita, that's all I can say.

MegBusset · 28/05/2014 09:20

Managed 30DS L3D2 today with a little less cursing than yesterday. Still can't do a sit up without rolling over sideways so am replacing with the double crunch from L2 which hopefully uses some of the same muscles!

yadahyadah · 28/05/2014 10:12

Ri30 L3D2 holy fricking moly this is hard. Especially with cranky muscles from Day 1 yesterday. The good news is, I think the moves in this level really reach the zones other exercises may miss. The bad news is it therefore really makes you work. I foresee buns of steel and Stallone-like triceps by the end of this level. Lambzig have you survived it? Please tell me yes... I can't do this alone ...

OP posts:
StuntNun · 28/05/2014 10:15

Meg try hooking your toes under the sofa with your legs bent. That should enable you to do the sit-ups. Also it find it easier with my arms crossed in an x vampire style.

Lambzig · 28/05/2014 10:54

Yadah, I am bunking off today as on Wednesdays I work in London so have to leave home at 6 and am back late. I will do it first thing tomorrow and let you know, but am determined to conquer getting back up after those sumo squat backwards crunchy things.

I think you are right about the bits previously missed though, the bottom of my bottom is very achey and my tricepts hurt a lot this morning.

What the hell is on level 4 though?

BetterWithCheese · 28/05/2014 11:00

30DS L3 D6 done. My birthday present was a HR monitor compatible with my iPhone which is brilliant but it said I burnt 50 less calories than MFP has been saying. Obviously, that's why I wanted one but still a bit gutted.

My weights are ok with the plank thingies but I still can't do them on my toes. Will try to last longer on toes tomorrow.

I'm not sure what to do after I finish my 30 days. I'm on holiday for a week but want to get right back at it so I need a plan or else I'll before likely to do nothing. Was thinking if alternating BFBM and NMTZ but maybe it's more realistic to do each of those once a week and one day of each of the Shred levels. Any suggestions?

StuntNun · 28/05/2014 11:24

Better I'm sticking with the shred until I can do press ups follow Natalie most of the time.

MegBusset · 28/05/2014 11:33

BWC out of interest how many calories is that? I'm never quite sure how to log it on mfp, i usually put 20 mins of circuit training which is a measly 160-odd cals...

Lambzig · 28/05/2014 11:38

BWC, I am really (in a twisted sort of way) enjoying RI30. Its got the same bite size and 3-2-1 system as Shred so seems a natural follow on if you like to do it all in under half an hour.

I think its a bit harder than Shred (some of the level 3 moves are in levels 1 and 2 of ripped) so feels like a progressions still rather than an alternative and level 1 still felt hard to do when I did it immediately after completing shred. Its a bit less dull as no move lasts longer than 30 seconds too (eg there are three separate moves in each strength circuit).

BetterWithCheese · 28/05/2014 12:01

Lambzig you're selling Ri30 to me. I don't have it though and feel like I need to work on the ones I've got before buying any more. That said, I think levels 1-3 might be on YouTube. Hmm, decisions, decisions.

Meg it was 250 but I weigh over 14 stone atm so if you weigh less it'll be a lot less. I used to log it as 25 minutes as that's how long it took to do from start to finish and got just over 300 calories.

yadahyadah · 28/05/2014 12:14

Betterwithcheese level 4 of Ripped is on Vimeo so there is now no stopping you. I agree with Lambzig Ripped does feel like a nice progression from Shred. A tiny bit longer, a little harder but generally the same format and intensity. I really like how boingy it has made me feel again. Plus, it really seems to focus on those evil bits that you don't notice may not be used during other exercises. Like lambzig the bit under my buns is really cranky today as well as the bit really near the armpit, aka bingo wings, of my triceps.

For myself, I thought I would finish Ripped and then go back to doing Shred three times a week and BFBM (also available on YouTube) a couple of times a week to really cane the residual flab on my tummy.

BetterWithCheese · 28/05/2014 12:23

Right Ri30 it is, thanks, I think HmmGrin

AnyaKnowIt · 28/05/2014 13:44

Day 6 of level 1 done.

ImogenQuy · 29/05/2014 08:46

30DSL1D10 done - L2 tomorrow! My ankles are really hurting, though, which I think is all the jumping. Did anyone else have that, and did it get better? I might abandone the cardio bits and do some Pilates exercises instead.

BiffBaffBuduff · 29/05/2014 09:06

New shredder here! Slinking in at the end of the month almost...

So I started with 30DS, skipped to level 2 and did day 1 yesterday, wasn't too bad. Couldn't find the weights which were right in front of me and used tins of coconut milk which were a bit light. And DD (8 months) was playing with my feet while I was trying to do the leg raises but all in all it was great. Think I'm going to be hooked!

Lambzig · 29/05/2014 09:44

RI30 L3D2 done. Well it's ridiculously hard, but I think I found day 2 a little easier. I managed to stagger through it all, even the backwards sumo squat crunch things although there may have been some very ugly shoving with my hands to get me back to my feet again. My calves are burning still. Had to wimp out to beginners a couple of times, but mainly on advanced. Yadah are you doing day 3 today?

Lambzig · 29/05/2014 09:45

Biffbaff, going straight to level 2 is showing off. I guess you must have been doing something already?

When mine were 6-12 months I found a jumperoo invaluable to get some exercise time.

yadahyadah · 29/05/2014 10:01

Checking in with D3L3 of Ri30. Phew. Beginning to own the moves now and that makes them more effective and helps me feel less thrown about and frazzled. Jumping lunges are not for me at all tho - me ol' knees can't take the pace on those. Otherwise I am mostly with Bashira. Getting to the end and finding myself doing pretty snazzy pipe crunches made my already slightly weirdo adoration of JM even more weirdo. I will probably end my days with a little altar to her set up in the front room and permanently wear inappropriately cut exercise wear for a woman in her 80s... Lambzig glad you are suffering with me on this one and glad you are getting stuck in to the hard moves too. Keep it up everyone. One day it will be sunny and we'll be able to get our frighteningly toned tushes out in it.

30ds l2 d1 starting to ache a bit now but not too bad.

Dd got a bit of a smack in the face when she walked passed my while I was doing a great impression of Fred Astaire Blush

tabulahrasa · 29/05/2014 12:27

30DSL3D10...unless I've dropped a day way back in the thread - I finished it Shock

That means Ri30 tomorow, for some reason I thought it was going to be Saturday.

I did the the plank thing on the weights, go that makes it harder, lol, still no six pack though, or it's very well hidden under the belly fat.

Still, I actually finished - yay
