April 30 day shred anyone?

I hope there isn't already a thread, had a look & could only find the March one. I have it on good authority that Tesco have the DVD for a fiver - I'm off to spend some club card points so that I have no excuse to not get cracking tomorrow!

I've also taken a 'before' photo (eek!) so that I can marvel at my transformation at the end of it if the shred doesn't kill me first

Who's with me?!

DarylDixonsDarlin I am not the sort who would take a pic however, having seen the results 20 days in, I am kind of wishing I had. I did take measurements tho. So do it, take the selfie...Grin

L1D4 done :) Finding this fairly 'easy' - do you have to do 10 days on each or can I move up a level after 6 days and do extra on another level?

I think I will look at some of those other DVDs for when I have finished this one - althoug I need to get through this one first!

StuntNun · 07/04/2014 16:07

I did six days on level 1 then on the seventh day I found it quite easy so tried the level 2 the same day and ended up moving on early. That now means I have 13 days on level 3 so I'm planning to do ten days at level 3 then do each level in turn one time so I can see how much I have progressed since starting the shred in March.

Sirzy · 07/04/2014 16:08

thats a good idea Stunt

NotGoodNotBad · 07/04/2014 16:42

Sirzy, move up whenever you want, Jillian's word isn't law...

I'm back on L1 after getting up to L3 plus Ri30 L3, as DD has joined me and she's a beginner. But, I've upped the weights and added ankle weights and my arms are sorer than they have ever been, so there's another option...

ditavonteesed · 07/04/2014 16:52

I moved from level 2 to 3 after 7 days mainly becasue I hated level 2.

IdkickJilliansAss · 07/04/2014 16:53

Could you use a heavier weight Sirzy?

mmack · 07/04/2014 17:49

L1 Day 4 and 5 done, Saturday and today. So I am 1/6 done. All the stiffness is gone already, it's amazing how quick you get used to it.

PhDmummy · 07/04/2014 18:31

L1D6 done, hurray! Missed a day yesterday but never mind.

IdkickJilliansAss · 07/04/2014 20:04

Circuits 1, 3, 4, 5 & 6 of BFBM done

BadRoly · 07/04/2014 20:41

Oh my goodness but my arms/shoulders have been nicely achy all afternoon but now my knees are in agony! I am hobbling like an old woman! Is this normal?

IdkickJilliansAss · 07/04/2014 20:48

That happened to me when I first started shredding but soon passed BadRoly

sunshinysummer · 07/04/2014 20:55

I took a break from shred tonight and did NMTZ. I forgot how hard that plank section is...and I didn't do the surrenders at all! Kept up with the rest though (with v light weights!).

ErrolTheDragon · 07/04/2014 22:59

Roly - aching muscles in arms and legs for the first few days is normal, but aching joints shouldn't be. If your knees hurt, pay extra careful attention to form, don't go too far on lunges, and modify any cardio intervals that hurt them (eg if jumping hurts them, substitute more shadow boxing).

BadRoly · 07/04/2014 23:02

Ok Errol, I'll see how they are in the morning. I was fine doing the shred, it's only been this evening my knees have hurt. I suspect I got a bit carried away Blush

StuntNun · 08/04/2014 07:56

30DS L3D3 done. I can almost do the mountain climbers now but the rock star jumps are beyond me. Even Anita style I think I'm going to do myself an injury so I've been doing extra jump rope instead. I couldn't manage the double jump rope all through level 2 but I can do it now .

yadahyadah · 08/04/2014 08:09

D2 L3 30DS done. Felt easier today - in that I had my modifications all worked out in advance. Still worked out, still feel good and in fact I feel better than usual because my knees are not distracting me from my endorphin rush. StuntNun I am rubbish with jumping lunges, jump squats and the rock star jumps to boot. I think I stupidly overdid the lunges for a while in both L1 and 2 in my fervour to hang with Jillian. BadRoly take Errol's advice - she knows of what she speaks. Keep it up all.

yadahyadah · 08/04/2014 08:11

Sorry I meant Errol, not StuntNun on the rock star jumps Blush

BadRoly · 08/04/2014 09:19

L1D2 just done. Think it's the lunges that did for me. Was very shallow and concentrated on sticking my bum out! Everything else felt fine.

hinkyhonk · 08/04/2014 09:45

I seemed to have knacked my shoulder. It doesn't hurt when I do any of level one (think I did it by moving a very heavy gate with dh at the weekend). Do you reckon I should just still carry on with level one exercises as they don't hurt or do I need to modify even though they don't hurt?

Degustibusnonestdisputandem · 08/04/2014 10:39

I won't be doing L1 D5 until Friday, but was thinking maybe instead of doing the easy push-ups, I might try proper ones but using a step... Do you think this would work better?

Nightwish · 08/04/2014 11:41

Ri30 L2D5.
Struggling already to fit it in with the holidays as DS1 accidentally wakes up DS2 from his nap and DP is doing work experience so isn't home in time for me to do it before dinner!
But will just try to do it as often as possible and just keep going.

I actually lost 6lbs last week, this is after losing pretty much nothing from when I started shreding in December. I have changed my eating a bit and it seems to have worked. Yay!

IdkickJilliansAss · 08/04/2014 11:48

That's fanrastic going Nightwish!

Degustibusnonestdisputandem · 08/04/2014 11:51

Wow! Well done, Nightwish Smile

ErrolTheDragon · 08/04/2014 12:32

Degustibus - if you want to move from Anita style push-ups to the full ones, but can't manage them, then the standard advice is indeed to do inclined push-ups. Figure out ahead of time a suitable level that lets you do the set with good form (ie arms doing the right thing and torso rigid) - and gradually work lower. If a step works for you, that's great. I'm still not all the way down yet - started at kitchen worktop level, went through table, sofa arm, coffee table to sofa base. (then hurt my back so I'm still not all the way down yet).
