April 30 day shred anyone?

I hope there isn't already a thread, had a look & could only find the March one. I have it on good authority that Tesco have the DVD for a fiver - I'm off to spend some club card points so that I have no excuse to not get cracking tomorrow!

I've also taken a 'before' photo (eek!) so that I can marvel at my transformation at the end of it if the shred doesn't kill me first

Who's with me?!

KB&T L2 doneGrin

Only just done it today and found it so much harder at this time of day!!
Nite wish, those 1 legged burpees are a killer!

Chuckle, well done on weight/inch loss, it's a fab motivator!Grin

IdkickJilliansAss · 05/04/2014 13:57

Daddypig gave me my name as she thought my previous one was too lethargic!

ditavonteesed · 05/04/2014 14:31

well done chuck thats amazing. 1 legged burpees do not sound fun. will be my last day of 30ds today (although I need coffee first) then on to ripped. I am planning to do it through with 1kg and 5lb weights and then up the weights a lot and start again with both, does that sound like a good plan.

StuntNun · 05/04/2014 14:33

30DS L3D2 done and I swear I can see the outline of the top of my abs beneath a thick layer of flab. I also did a kettlebell DVD which seemed a bit better and more targeted than last night's beginners kettlebells class which really focuses on strength moves and cardios. I have to say I am loving the kettlebells and I think they are particularly good for core work. Some of the moves on the DVD are routine exercises such as crunches but the kettlebell doesn't just add weight it also forces your body to compensate for the weight, e.g. if the kettlebell is to one side of your midline then your muscles have to work in a different way to balance the off-centre weight.

StuntNun · 05/04/2014 14:36

I did seven days of level 1 and ten days of level 2 on the shred which means I need to do 13 days at level 3. Sounds a bit dull so I was thinking I might do ten days at level 3 then do each level again in turn for one day each at the end so I can get an idea of how I've progresses over the 30 days. Does that sound like a good idea or is it cheating to go back to levels 1 and 2 when you're already on level 3?

ErrolTheDragon · 05/04/2014 14:40

Sounds good - what's the kettlebell DVD please, StuntNun? I'm already wondering what to do after I've finished Ri30.

Diva - that sounds like a good plan, it's pretty much what I did (though I wouldn't say I upped the weights a lot for eg the anterior raises)

ErrolTheDragon · 05/04/2014 14:43

Stuntnun - that sounds good to me - you could try the L1/L2 with more weight for some of the moves, more Natalie if you were doing any anitas, faster on the cardio - whatever!

Sorelip · 05/04/2014 14:56

I got bored of level 1 since it's the one I start on then give up on, so did level 2 instead. Ouch.

GandTnow · 05/04/2014 14:59

Well, after feeling terrible yesterday and missing my big 30 day finale, I'm feeling better today and have done it. This is the longest I have EVER stuck at exercise and I'm feeling really chuffed with myself!! Smile

For those of you starting out, it is totally worth it. I got a bit disheartened in the middle as I didn't like level 2 and wasn't seeing much change, but now I really can. I still have a way to go with the old belly wobble, but my arms look ace (I may have begun to call them my guns to DH!!!!!!) and my legs are toned - check me out bigging myself up! Never would have thought! Grin

Just watch ripped - oh my word, it looks quite scary. Gulp

GandTnow · 05/04/2014 15:00

Stunt i did level one again with weights, by far my favourite level like this.

StuntNun · 05/04/2014 15:35

It's this Kettlebells dvd Errol but there are loads of YouTube videos if you don't want to fork out. Bob Harper's DVDs get better reviews but apparently aren't ideal for beginners. I had a bit of trouble getting the right weight of kettlebell. I initially opted for an 8kg one on the advice of a few websites but I found it too heavy. I was okay with 8kg at last night's class however that was mainly big body movements. The DVD I have uses a lot more one handed lifts and presses so 8kg is too heavy for that so I got a 4kg bell that I use for the arm/abs work and I use the 8kg bell for the leg work. If you're buying a bell then cast iron is supposed to better than vinyl and it needs to have a smooth handle as you'll be flinging and flipping it all over the show.

Nightwish · 05/04/2014 15:38

Well done GandT!
Ripped is good, you will like it.

spinningirl10 · 05/04/2014 16:10

Yay well done G&T, ripped is fab!!

I'm enjoying KB&T I can really feel it working my bum! And today I did it in my bedroom in my knickers which I don't usually do and I was Infront of the mirrored wardrobes and I can really see definition in my legs! Grin

ErrolTheDragon · 05/04/2014 16:37

Thanks stunt. The other thing I was thinking was to maybe alternate KB&T (which I've got) with something else which focusses on upper body/abs - really I need that more than leg work at the moment.

ditavonteesed · 05/04/2014 16:57

well done G&T, I too have finished 30ds, I couldnt wait till tommorow so i have done my first ripped as well. really enjoyed it. I fancy trying kettle bells.

PhDmummy · 05/04/2014 17:26

L1 D5. Everyone is doing sooo well, it's really motivating to hear people saying its worked for them. Thanks everyone!

yadahyadah · 05/04/2014 17:39

D9 L2 30DS done. Just one more of this killer session to go. Well done GandTnow - check out your bad self with your guns and all.

mmack · 05/04/2014 18:02

D4L1 done. I will be impressed with myself if I'm halfway through L1 tomorrow.

StuntNun · 05/04/2014 18:22

Errol I'm pretty sure level 1 of 6W6P is on YouTube, have you tried that yet?

IdkickJilliansAss · 05/04/2014 20:54

I'm loving the improvements jillianing has made to my body my favourite being my side bum dents (not a technical term) them I am especially proud of. NMTZ has some good AB/core work in it.

sunshinysummer · 05/04/2014 22:10

L1D7 done. Late tonight because my 2 year old couldn't settle and I didn't want her to wake with all the jumping around and panting!
Feeling stronger which is good but starting to dread level 2. I remember it as a real jump last time so not looking forward to all the plank stuff-definitely looking forward to the leaner look though!

Well done everyone;it's great reading the motivational posts.

hinkyhonk · 05/04/2014 22:44

I hated level 2 last time so hoping you guys can push me through it when I get there. L1D4 done and feeling good that I am doing something about the wobbly bits. Still can't stand the lunges and the side lunges so basically the combo strength moves but the rest of it is actually fine (ish) so happy with that.
