April 30 day shred anyone?

I hope there isn't already a thread, had a look & could only find the March one. I have it on good authority that Tesco have the DVD for a fiver - I'm off to spend some club card points so that I have no excuse to not get cracking tomorrow!

I've also taken a 'before' photo (eek!) so that I can marvel at my transformation at the end of it if the shred doesn't kill me first

Who's with me?!

KB&T L2 D2 doneGrin

Chuckthefucklebrothers · 04/04/2014 08:17

Day 4 done, raaaahh!

Would love to see an exercise DVD where the instructor has just fallen out of bed & does the program in her pjs whilst being crawled on by a baby, jumped on by a toddler, shouted at from another room by a teenager & licked in the face by a dog! Grin

Chuckthefucklebrothers yes so would I.....it would make feel more normal Wink
Think I'm going to wait until DS2 is having a nap today, it's day 1 of DS1 potty training, what are the odds that he's saving up a big poo for when I'm distracted?! Grin
Well done everyone that's sticking to it, this thread is very motivating. Thanks

ErrolTheDragon · 04/04/2014 12:25

Ri30 L3D5 done. Think I'll stick with this level next week (hopefully manage to keep going through the hols) as I'm quite enjoying it (except for the 'duck walk').

Sirzy · 04/04/2014 12:28

L1D2 done. Felt ok with it!

Degustibusnonestdisputandem · 04/04/2014 13:01

L1 D4 done this morning, it's surprising how fast you get better (& I'm only fitting it around my other training!) I can now do the easy pushups the whole time, & finished the bicycle crunches too! Now to sink lower on the leg stuff

hinkyhonk · 04/04/2014 14:04

Struggling to motivate myself as having a crap day but I'm off to do l1d3

Highlandbird · 04/04/2014 16:07

L1D3 done Grin

ditavonteesed · 04/04/2014 16:19

Just woke up and having a coffee, going to do l3 again in a minute before get ready for work, I am dying to do ripped but I have this far so I really should finish 30 ds.

GandTnow · 04/04/2014 16:24

Feeling terrible today. Think I must have picked up a tummy bug from somewhere. Taking all my control not to vom on everything today. Think I might take a day off - ugh!

IdkickJilliansAss · 04/04/2014 17:57

Definitely take today off GandT

NMTZ done

hinkyhonk · 04/04/2014 18:50

Feeling great after L1D3 - almost want to do it again tonight but I can hear Wine calling - a much better idea

PhDmummy · 04/04/2014 19:09

L1 D4 - on a roll! How many days are you doing before you have a day off?

yadahyadah · 04/04/2014 19:26

D8 L2 30DS done. And I now cannot wait for this level to end....on a positive note, a friend said I was looking leaner - get that? Leaner. Never heard the like...that comment got me through today's workout which I had left too late in the day to feel exuberant about. Will fix this tomorrow. Well done all. Get well, GandT and happy weekend.

IdkickJilliansAss · 04/04/2014 19:32

Yay Yadahyadah what a great boost!

Highlandbird · 04/04/2014 19:42

< hi fives hinkyhonk back > we are going to be looking LEANER soon, sounds good to me Grin Grin
GandT get well soon Thanks

ErrolTheDragon · 04/04/2014 20:15

dita - I'd say it's best to finish the shred before starting Ri30. the first level might be a bit easier but after that it gets a bit more challenging - I reckon its a good one to move on to. Smile

Chuckthefucklebrothers · 04/04/2014 21:22

The weirdest thing just happened - I got serious cravings for... Fruit! So I'm sat watching the telly scoffing melon & grapes, not toast or biscuits, melon & grapes!! Very nice it is too Grin

yep, hopefully we will all be looking much leaner by the end of April :)

Chuck-I find that too. Whenever I go for it with the exercise I automatically seem to eat better and crave healthier foods. I think my body must be telling me not to waste all the hard work. As Jillian says, you can eat back any amount of exercise!

L1D6 done and feeling stronger. Still doing Anita press ups as my upper body strength is terrible!

ErrolTheDragon · 04/04/2014 23:26

sunshiny - full press-ups require not only sufficient upper body strength but also strong abs to keep the body rigid. The latter is the larger part of my inability to do them still - though I'm getting nearer. Anyone finding that they can do the anitas but not progress to natalies, there's a lot of advice on the 5:2 exercise thread if you want to take a shufti.

About the eating better - some studies suggest that while moderate exercise can increase appetite (and also the 'I've been on the exercise bike 40 mins reading a book, I deserve a cake' syndrome), more intense exercise, (especially high intensity intervals) can suppress appetite. Shred etc can be pretty intense, and you can make it even more HIIT-like by really going for it maximum effort for each 30 secs of cardio so you only just make it through, hitting pause to recover, then next 30 etc, as an alternative to pacing it to get through the whole dvd without stopping. Obviously takes a bit longer but I quite like doing it that way.

NotGoodNotBad · 04/04/2014 23:44

Food - I took a week off exercise recently due to injury and found I ate more! Don't know if it was physical, or mental - like I was having a break from everything and might as well eat lots.

sunshinysummer · 05/04/2014 09:07

Yep-a weak core is my other issue!

Thanks for all the useful tips Errol. I will check out the 5:2 thread.

Chuckthefucklebrothers · 05/04/2014 09:34

Sunshiny, Errol, that's really interesting. I thought it'd go the other way too: 'I've done some exercise so I can eat whatever I like..'

Having a day off the shred (I think) - doing a Zumba class followed by a (fairly hardcore) Pilates class. Reckon that's my strength & cardio covered for the day! Never done both classes back to back before & only been to Zumba once, a long time ago, scared Shock

KB&T L2D2. Enjoyed it more today, hard but good!
The only thing is I am useless at burpees so it makes the one legged ones and superman combos awful.
My back is so inflexible I can't get my hands and feet close enough together on the floor. Eugh.
Anyone have beginners yoga/pilates DVD recommendations to help loosen up my back?

Chuck I think that is definitely enough for one day. You will be fine, just go for it!

Hope you all have a lovely weekend. Keep going!

Chuckthefucklebrothers · 05/04/2014 12:54

Meh, Zumba teacher didn't turn up so I went for it on the cross trainer instead.

But!!

Apparently I have lost 5lb! In a week! Couldn't quite believe it so I got my tape measure out & I've lost an inch off my hips & half an inch off my waist & thighs. Admittedly I was a bit hormonal & bloaty last week, but still.

Not showing off, btw, I'm just astounded that this and laying off the biscuits would work so quickly. Grin
