April 30 day shred anyone?

I hope there isn't already a thread, had a look & could only find the March one. I have it on good authority that Tesco have the DVD for a fiver - I'm off to spend some club card points so that I have no excuse to not get cracking tomorrow!

I've also taken a 'before' photo (eek!) so that I can marvel at my transformation at the end of it if the shred doesn't kill me first

Who's with me?!

Morning Grin

Ooh L2 is hard!! Those low squats are a killer!

stuckindamiddle · 03/04/2014 09:20

Level 1 questions:

  • static lunge with bicep curl. When I do this, I struggle to lunge low enough to feel like it's doing something without my knee going over my toe. What am I doing wrong?
  • the standing row one - I feel nothing, even with 2.5kg weights. Am I doing it wrong or do I just need heavier weights?
Nightwish · 03/04/2014 10:10

Hello all.
Coming to join from the previous Shred thread, just had two days off whilst at uni.
Have been doing JM workouts since the start of December, currently doing alternate days of Killer Buns and Thighs and Ripped in 30.
I only manage 4/5 days a week but getting there.

Today was Ri30 L2D4.

Spinning I thought that for L2 on my first go a couple of days ago.
And I have no chairs so am using a stool which wobbles every time I step up on it.

ErrolTheDragon · 03/04/2014 10:25

Morning all. Ri30 L3D4 done.

stuck its hard to say without being able to see what you're doing! For the lunges, the only thing I can think is that maybe your back leg isn't far enough back...I think I have mine about as far back as it will go. For side lunges and squats, the thing I find helpful is to lead with my butt - think about that going back and down and the rest seems to follow. I've forgotten exactly what the row is in shred... I can do a bent over row with bigger weights so maybe that's it.

Well done everyone else starting out on this - especially those of you with small DCs! Smile

yadahyadah · 03/04/2014 10:45

Morning all, D7 L2 30DS completed. Feeling both glad L2 has been so challenging and also glad it is nearly over...

StuntNun · 03/04/2014 10:50

Yadah level 3 is more fun than level 2, I found level 2 a bit of a grind. Pls you get to see Natalie's tummy (I think I have a bit of a girl crush!)

masquerade · 03/04/2014 12:03

I'm not shredding today. My leg is still a little sore and I've pulled my side/back (I'm thinking it was maybe the bicycle crunches). I'm going to do a walking workout from youtube instead, nothing tomorrow and then back to Shred on Saturday. I will definitely take the advice on board to modify the cardio sections for less stress on my shins - I think I'm a bit too stubborn for my own good, I want to do it 'properly'!

I've also found Jillian's Yoga Meltdown level 1 on youtube, it looks hard work but without any jumping so I might end up alternating Shred with this if my shins continue to bother me.

yadahyadah · 03/04/2014 14:02

Ta Stuntnun I am looking forward to a more fun bit. Level 2 has been very good for me tho as pre-kids I used to do a lot of circuit training and was pretty fit even if I do say so myself. Level 2 has really helped me get my mojo back on that mental and physical level which is what I have been missing for a long old while in mum land.

You ladies who have done this before, how much of a body change did you see in that last 10 days? I think my body has changed in the past 17 days and more importantly my head is in a new place regarding exercise body issues etc, but there is still a way to go in addressing the old bagel belly which is my worst bit both pre and post kiddies. Any wise words for me?

IdkickJilliansAss · 03/04/2014 14:06

NMTZ done, I noticed massive changes with Legs, arms, bum and upper abs but I don't know if anything can be done re bagel belly, mine is now flat when standing but will 'bagel' in plank position too due to the loose skin I have after DC. I don't know if this can be changed but I'm going to have a good go! If not I've found a mini tummy tuck procedure for £1900 in Belgium Wink

yadahyadah · 03/04/2014 14:23

Idkickjilliansass that is really good to know that the bagel is flat when standing after all your efforts. Is your tummy your worst bit generally tho?I think in plank pose, after 3 kiddies, you are allowed to bagel FFs. I would happily accept the bagel in plank if it went away the the rest of the time. However, that Belgium idea is one I will put in my back pocket and take it out and mull over once in a while like a little marble of possibility.

IdkickJilliansAss · 03/04/2014 14:26

Me too yadah Smile Yes my stomach is definitely my worst bit, the first place to put on weight and the last to lose it but yes having it flat whilst standing is bloody great and worth the efforts.

mmack · 03/04/2014 14:39

L1D3 done. If my stomach is anyway flat when standing after I finish the 30 days it will be an actual miracle and I won't worry about loose skin.

GandTnow · 03/04/2014 14:58

Level 3 done. Thinking I might give Ri30 a whril this weekend. One more day of Shred left to do! Come on! Grin

IdkickJilliansAss · 03/04/2014 15:01

Yay GandT

Highlandbird · 03/04/2014 16:53

L1D2 done, not sure how effective it was had to stop twice to put DS1 in naughty corner, dog was licking my face whilst doing abs and baby was clambering all over me, argh!!my calves are still really tight from day 1 but I'm guessing that will improve if I work through it?
Not feeling fluey today thank goodness although still have a sore throat.

ditavonteesed · 03/04/2014 17:44

can I join in? I have 2 days left of level 3 to go, I cant believe the person that started this with a tin of beans and was in agony can now do the whole of level 3 with weights (alright only 2kg but still). Ripped just arrived in the post oday so shall be starting on Sunday. The speed at which you get fitter and stronger is amazing. I have lost 2" of my wasit, not measured anywhere else, I had a really good look in the mirror today and although they are well covered I can see my abs and really nice side muscles. My arms are so toned from this.

I still do anita for pressups but everything else is natalie.
Oh and I a in the middle of night shifts I never thought I would get up after a night shift and do a workout. I hated Jillian but than I bought a new dress of the internet whch shouldnt have fitted but it not only fits but looks good so now she is my favourite person in the world.

PhDmummy · 03/04/2014 17:44

L1 D3 done......feeling proud! Definately easier on Abs today.

Sorelip · 03/04/2014 17:59

L1 d3 done. Strangely, I felt good after completing it instead of on the verge of collapse.

IdkickJilliansAss · 03/04/2014 18:46

That's great PHD you have good reason to be proud Smile and you Sorelip

hinkyhonk · 03/04/2014 19:01

L1d2 done - not feeling too bad which is good. mind you I was in agony after the weekend shovelling rubble so hopefully I might get away with not aching too much now.

Wow 2" off the waist. Sounds great to me. I did my measurements last night and made DH take some stupid before photos so I'll have something to compare to. I also found a progress sheet on Pinterest for the 30DS so I can tick off the days and hopefully start to see some progress.

When I did it last time I managed to drop 6 pounds and really tone up so fingers crossed for a similar result although the vat of flapjack I've eaten today hasn't helped

spinningirl10 · 03/04/2014 19:40

Well done G&T, Ri30 is fab Grin

And well done Hinky at 2" loss!!

spinningirl10 · 03/04/2014 19:41

Oops sorry that should have been well done to Ditavon! Grin

StuntNun · 03/04/2014 20:28

FrogsLegs I have signed up for a kettlebell class tomorrow. Is it going to hurt?

sunshinysummer · 03/04/2014 20:44

Wow, lots of motivational posts.

L1D5 done. It is definitely starting to feel more doable. It is amazing how quickly fitness improves.

Let us know how the kettlebell class goes. Sounds painful!

montymum · 03/04/2014 21:03
