I'm tired, I'm sweaty, I'm hot, but I'm happy.

Met some lovely people, including a lady and her DD, who ran/walked with me for most of it. Got round in about 46 minutes, so I'm thrilled :) I was 164th of 165 but I don't care :)

Well done lollipop I'm so glad you had a good time!

I didn't go this week - did 10miles last night and didn't quite feel up to it this morning. Also trying to get a BBQ together last minute!

How did everyone do?
kristina did you manage the right amount of laps!?

Blatherskite · 14/06/2014 12:53

I was back at 'home' for the second week running. Managed a quicker 26:45 today which I was almost happy with given that it was really hot and humid and my calf was aching from yesterday's hill session. I had considered trying to stick with the 25:30 pacer and trying to re-create my PB but I just wasn't feeling it this morning.

Were you there fingers?

originalpiratematerial · 14/06/2014 17:44

Brilliant, lollipop - well done Smile!

Morrigu · 14/06/2014 19:13

Pb day today - came in at 24.31, nearly two mins under my previous pb. Chuffed to little mint balls wouldn't be in it. All those hill repeats and speed sessions training for the hm must be paying off. Yipee!! Well that and possibly because my super-fit fell running mate joined me so didn't want to show myself up Grin

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 14/06/2014 19:31

Excellent running people Smile

No running for me because it was DS2's Sports Day. So with apologies in advance for the boast post I will share with you that I and super-proud because he won two of his individual events and came second in the third. He was also in the relay team (but not sure where his team finished Blush) and came home with the best athlete in his age group prize Grin

OK, be honest you lot. How much are my legs going to hurt tomorrow?

Oh, and to the lady who I was running with, said "Come on, I'll run in with you" on the final bit, and then dropped back to let me go over the line first, thank you. You didn't have to do that, so thank you.

karatekimmi · 14/06/2014 20:10

Well done lollipop that's fantastic!!

Despite mini Kimmi and I being up from 5.30am most weeks not my choice I hasten to add we end up tear-arssing round the house trying not to be late whilst looking for snacks, water bottles, waterproofs, running socks,...

I was pleased with my time 30.11 although would have loved sub 30 only managed it once but its faster than i've been for a while.

standingonlego · 14/06/2014 21:22

I missed today due to aching limbs from gym session yesterday, and a bit of home stuff going on. But that means that me and BF who runs at parkrun down south (and DID run today) are now both on 40 runs....we are now racing to get that red t-shirt! 10 to go....

standingonlego · 14/06/2014 21:23

Some fabulous times and achievements on here today - I LOVE looking at this thread on a Saturday evening you awesome ladies Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 14/06/2014 22:08

Well done LollipopViolet! And Morrigu, fantastic pb!

RD for me this week so no actual running :( we had a record turn out though due to neighbouring parkrun being cancelled so a nice and busy 68 runners!

cinnamongreyhound · 14/06/2014 22:08

I'm on 40 too standingonlego, my running buddy's on 41 so we're racing too!!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 14/06/2014 23:12

47 for me, but I'm volunteering next week so will be stuck there a bit longer.

Blatherskite · 14/06/2014 23:35

73 for me. Also volunteering next week. MK is cancelled on the 5th July so I might need to do some lone tourism while the Wife is at Silverstone.

Can't decide between paying OhOne a visit or heading over to Aylesbury to run it officially (I only did the trial) to add 1 more to my tourism list too. I'm 23 runs and about 5 courses behind her so every little counts. not competitive at all Wink

MelanieCheeks · 14/06/2014 23:40

Im on 45 but have been injured for the past few weeks. The ladies who were on the sane number as me ran their 50th today, and i wore a supporting t shirt for them , acted as timekeeper, and posed for photos with them. It was a great day, lots of pbs for the local club, and the may sweatshop prize was one of my friends too. Parkrun is much more than just running.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 15/06/2014 08:26

Blathers I might not be there on 5 July - will let you know. I am becoming a very part-time parkrunner Grin

OP posts:
Blatherskite · 15/06/2014 10:39

I might plan to be in Aylesbury then OhOne.

Let me know when your 50th is though as I will definitely come over for that one. You came to MK for mine after all :)

I'm going to run MK next month with my friend and his little boy who is severely autistic. He sometimes takes some persuading to run in the right direction and only manages 1 parkrun every month or so but the next one will be his 10th so we're going to make the same big deal of it that we do for others 50 and 100 runs. I know his Dad worries that the tail runner gets annoyed with them for being at the back and being slow whenever they run so hopefully this will help them realise how valued they are. I've already bagsied the honour of giving his his t-shirt when it arrives Grin

LollipopViolet · 15/06/2014 10:52

My legs are killing me this morning. As are, weirdly, my shoulders.

But, I don't care. I completed a 5k yesterday :)

What's the Sweatshop prize thing?

standingonlego · 15/06/2014 10:52

Yeah cinnamon we can cheer each other on.

I am planning to switch to ladies "come back to hockey" on Sat mornings in September so need to do parkrun virtually every week now as I am not slowing up until I get the magic 50 as time is of the essence.

standingonlego · 15/06/2014 10:53

Go Lollipop Grin So pleased you made it with your complicated journey too!

cinnamongreyhound · 15/06/2014 11:08

The sweatshop prize is a monthly prize at each parkrun for parkrunner of the month. The core team decide who they feel is most deserving and that person gets a voucher for a pair of trainers from sweatshop. One of my volunteers yesterday was asking about it as he thought it was only bigger parkruns I explained we all have it but couldn't tell him he was actually the winner for May as we're not allowed to announce anything until they get the official email! I think for some a pair of trainers is a bit deal, personally I have to think carefully about spending that sort of money but I think a lot of it is the feeling that someone thinks you're doing a great job :)

LollipopViolet · 15/06/2014 11:08

standing it's only 2 buses, to be fair, and one of them is a 2 minute journey, so not too complicated Grin

originalpiratematerial · 15/06/2014 12:51

Blathers that's lovely. My youngest is severely autistic too - at the moment i don't think I'd have the confidence to try taking him but who knows, maybe one day.

Blatherskite · 15/06/2014 12:58

I've got a soft spot for him because he gives good hugs pirate Wink You should definitely try out your local parkrun, I'm sure you'd both love it.

originalpiratematerial · 15/06/2014 13:11

I think I need to befriend a fellow runner so I've some help on hand. He's a terrific runner but he doesn't always go in the direction I need him to! He's the main reason I decided it was imperative for me to get fit. My DH has advanced osteo-arthritis, so it's down to me really. DH is having a hip replacement in September though so I really hope that he'll be more mobile after that.
