As the first thread ( www.mumsnet.com/Talk/exercise/1948631-Is-there-a-general-running-thread? ) is now pretty much full time for a new one.

Thread for anyone who runs no matter how fast or slow or how long you run for to discuss all things running!

Thanks SirzySmile Hope you manage to do your run Degustibus.

cinnamongreyhound · 08/04/2014 07:40

What problems are you having runningLou? I have always been quite religious with my pf exercises so I don't have any problems. I do get a kind of heavy feeling just before my period which I can still feel if I run at that time but doesn't stop me. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Yes I think so originalpiratematerial, I think you push yourself harder in races than when you're just running and it's just a bit tougher on your muscles. I don't stretch so there was no difference for me but did ache quite a bit after my first hm and a bit after my second. I would recommend a slow run to get everythingn moving again :)

Mitchy1nge · 08/04/2014 09:28

cinnamon are we friends on garminconnect? do you run in the forest? I want to come!

postmanpatscat · 08/04/2014 09:58

Hello runners! I should have been on here ages ago but family issues have kept me away from mumsnet for about a month.

I'm a recent convert to parkrun, run about 3x a week in addition (up to 20k but usually only 10k) and a proud new owner of a Garmin. I want some Garmin Connect+ friends so please add me (I'm lilacjames on there).

mitchy I have sent you a request since we are already MFP pals :)

Mitchy1nge · 08/04/2014 10:01

I can't see you!

there's an MFP group on garmin too as well as the MN one

garmin annoys me to death, it says 'oh look, comments on your recent activity' but can never ever ever see them

maybe can add you and the requests will meet somehow

Mitchy1nge · 08/04/2014 10:03

are not ginette then?

postmanpatscat · 08/04/2014 10:03

I found those, can you see me now?

The problem might be that I haven't actually used it yet?! I have registered etc and put in my PB for parkrun.

If I go to explore>people and type in lilacjames I can see me though?

postmanpatscat · 08/04/2014 10:04

yes that's me!

postmanpatscat · 08/04/2014 10:05

Now I must get out of my pjs and into my running kit!

I love school hols...

Mitchy1nge · 08/04/2014 10:08

:) oh yay there you are - I think you just need to adjust your privacy settings so that for 'all new activities' it allows your connections and groups

lots of people's stuff doesn't show up in the group

Mitchy1nge · 08/04/2014 10:21

(re: MFP, am not living on coffee with only 3 large meals a week, just gave up logging accurately for Lent, honest)

TessTackle · 08/04/2014 11:31

Morning! I can't catch up with the thread for some reason Angry hope everyone's doing well, no injuries!

Just back from "running" 6.44 miles. Gone from doing 1min walking 1min running intervals I've got it up to 4mins running 30secs walking. Feeling very proud of myself!

cinnamongreyhound · 08/04/2014 13:19

Yes and yes mitchy1nge!

I've added you postmanpatscat

cinnamongreyhound · 08/04/2014 13:20

And well done TessTackle!

TessTackle · 08/04/2014 14:16

Thank you cinnamon I'm determined to be able to run it all but don't want to run before I can walk so to speak.

Degustibusnonestdisputandem · 08/04/2014 15:30

Well I was rather slow, but made it doing 5kms with DTDs in their buggy Grin. Wouldn't want to do it too often though, not sure my back would thank me!

cinnamongreyhound · 08/04/2014 15:32

Total respect to you Degustibusnonestdisputandem!!!

Sirzy · 08/04/2014 16:29

well done tess :)

I have just ordered myself some capri running pants and a hat from wiggle. Hoping the hat will help when its raining! Looked in sports direct and they had hardly anything which was dissapointing.

Sirzy · 08/04/2014 16:30

wow 5k pushing a double buggy is impressive!

Degustibusnonestdisputandem · 08/04/2014 16:56

Haha, ah thanks! Grin Think the upper body training at the gym and 30DS helped also.

Theonlyoneiknow · 08/04/2014 20:09

I was also in sports direct today, they had some t shirts and leggings on sale but that was all. Am looking for a bright tank top type thing?

DP dropped me off on the way home and I ran 5 miles back so pleased with that, much prefer running one way! Legs are fine so far although they were sore for a day after Saturdays longest ever run (7.5miles). Might be a while before I do that distance again though!

Full on respect to to running 5km with a buggy!!

Good luck with the marathon orangeflutie! Sorry to hear about the loss of your DS, hugs xx. We donated to the lullaby trust instead of sending Xmas cards last year. I don't have personal experience of them but know of someone who does and they do such great things xx

cinnamongreyhound · 08/04/2014 21:01

And a double buggy!!!

Aldi have got some good running gear in at the moment :)

TessTackle · 08/04/2014 21:33

Degust that's incredible!

Was just talking to DP and realised I've only been on ten runs including today's. It's become a nature twice weekly routine and I feel like I'll never stop.

Got delivery of these babies today (reebok Carthage 3.0 black and pink for those who can't see pics) I can't wait to get out in them on thurs.

Theonlyoneiknow · 08/04/2014 21:59

They are lovely Tess,

Can anyone recommend a trainer for over pronation?

originalpiratematerial · 08/04/2014 23:01

orangeflutie I am sorry to read that you lost a DS Sad - my heart goes out to you. I hope that running for the Lullaby Trust brings you some little grains of comfort.
