I need to have someone to do this with, I tried it once and got to day 3 but then gave up. Please join me if you want to attempt this with me.

Awesome name... perhaps you could do something easier than the 6w6p today, was there a shred level you enjoyed? (but if you're really tired, then get some proper rest)

oohdaddypig · 20/03/2014 15:44

Jilliansass/errol - 2 tired's new name is my fault :) I hope that it's not ironically made her too tired again! If it cheers you up - I'm on the sofa too. There is a flu bug going around and my body wants to rest and eat chocolate :)

In the end I did kettlebells last night for 20 minutes.

IdkickJilliansAss · 20/03/2014 16:34

I went for a lie down instead, DS has been I'll so I'm wonderng if I'm getting it, I usually work out at least twice a day but today I'm happy with my half a 6w6p!

Chesterado · 20/03/2014 18:04

Checking back in... Yesterday was a total fail but managed day 3 of level 1 30ds this morning ... Could barely get out of the car this morning.

Positive vibes to everyone else finding it hard going!

ErrolTheDragon · 20/03/2014 18:13

oohdaddypig - is the kettlebells a routine of your own devising or a DVD? I'm curious, having heard good reports of their use but know nothing about it.

GeorginaWorsley · 20/03/2014 20:19

Did 30 DS l2 today,it move between levels depending on mood.
I don't mind as long as I do something each day.

pinkflaming0 · 20/03/2014 20:42

L3D2 yesterday but am probably not going to manage it tonight. Too much cooking, washing and ironing going on and it's getting late.

oohdaddypig · 20/03/2014 20:43

Errol - kettlebells was the way I got back to fitness after having kids. I love love them. Only got into JM for a change. I do the kettlercise DVD mainly - it's good for cardio and strength.

Definitely getting the kids' bug. Shattered! Grrrr.

Lindt - sounds like you are getting back on form?

Lindt70Percent · 20/03/2014 21:53

oohdaddypig, I like the sound of kettlebells. If I didn't have 3 more JM DVDs to work my way though I think I'd move onto that next. I'll need a change if I finish level 2 (2.5 weeks to go!).

I don't feel back on form yet. I just need to keep going or I'll stop. I've got to fit in a session tomorrow as have ILs coming for the weekend so will have to take Sat and Sun off. Frustrating in more ways than one I can tell you ! Wink

spinningirl10 · 21/03/2014 07:56

Ri30 L4 D29 done :)

GandTnow · 21/03/2014 08:31

Going to have to take a day off today. Woke up and can hardly move my thighs! Tried out a bit of BFBM last night and might have overdone it.

My 2.5 DD keeps asking me to play on the floor - ouch!

ErrolTheDragon · 21/03/2014 08:53

G&T - might be worth trying do do just a gentle warmup and then some stretches -that might limber you up a bit?

Can I ask another question about kettlebells - do you actually have to get kettlebells or can you improvise with dumbbells?

StuntNun · 21/03/2014 12:42

You can do the routines with dumbbells Errol but the point of kettle bells is that the weight is beyond the end of your arm so they require greater strength to move because you have a longer 'lever'.

ErrolTheDragon · 21/03/2014 13:01

Right - I was assuming that if you were using dumbbells you'd hold the end like in one of the Shred moves so that you get a bit more leverage.

I quite fancy trying it but don't want to buy kit till I know if it suits me.

StuntNun · 21/03/2014 13:13

I thought kettlebells needed significantly higher weight than dumbbells so you might struggle to find a heavy enough dumbbell that you could hold at one end. I think I might pop into a sports shop and see if I can try one, especially so as to get the weight right. Kettlebells are good for developing the muscles of the legs so I'd like to give them a try to tone up my thighs in particular as I have rubbish weak hamstrings but they're quite hard to exercise without doing squats with heavy weights.

ErrolTheDragon · 21/03/2014 13:22

Think I might hunt for some youtubes and play with the weights I've got to get an idea. Thanks! Thanks

Anyway, did Ri30L2D4 earlier, plus some inclined press-ups (still not there yet) and some triceps dips.

StuntNun · 21/03/2014 14:46

I have taken the plunge and ordered an 8kg kettlebell and a DVD. Ulp!

yadahyadah · 21/03/2014 15:35

L1 D4 30DS - done it and felt less creaky from muscle strain today. Have not measured myself as I generally avoid body stats preferring to know when I've burst my banks as it were and rein it all in accordingly. However, am wondering if in this case - 30 days and all - it might be a good motivator to have a set of comparable stats. What do most of you do on this front?

Lindt70Percent · 21/03/2014 15:42

Not going to fit in a session today, hoped I would this morning but it wasn't to be. On school run now and ILs will be there when I get home and won't be going until Sunday.

Very interested in all this talk of kettlebells.

As for taking measurements, I took mine on about day 4/5 of the shred and found it really helpful. Got it all written down at home but from memory I think my waist went down 8cm. It was really useful to have numerical proof it was working! Helped me keep going.

Have a great weekend everyone! Grin

ErrolTheDragon · 21/03/2014 17:20

What do most of you do on this front?

waist and thighs are my main stats of interest - hips and bust if you want.

Nightwish · 21/03/2014 18:15

Ri30 L2D1, my calves are hurting, they are gonna be agony tomorrow.
I was dreading it but surprised myself at how much I could do!

yadahyadah I took measurements at the start of the shred and found it very good motivation as my weight hasn't really changed but I have lost inches, like Lindt I am around 8cm off my waist now.

I measure waist, tummy, thighs, hips, calves, under-boob, over-boob and upper arms. It is amazing how your shape changes.

MissSmiley · 21/03/2014 19:11

L1 D1 today of 30dayshred.
I'm going to be doing it 3 times a week on my non running days. Are you really supposed to do it every day?
What is BFBM?

spinningirl10 · 21/03/2014 19:26

Miss smiley...I think you are supposed to do it 5/6 days to get the best results but if you run you must have a good level of fitness already.

Bfbm= banish fat boost metabolism, it's another of JMs dvds :)

I agree with measuring, it's great to see the inch loss!

Stunt....keep us updated with the kettlebells dvd, I'll be interested to see how you get on.

GandTnow · 21/03/2014 20:15

Just done level 3 of the shred. Was feeling sore this morning, but my legs felt better after tea. Decided to just do it! It seems almost easier than level 2 or am I not doing some of it right? Confused
