January Shred Thread

I thought I had better start one seeing as no one else has.
Please add your updates, whether it is a New Year's Resolution to get fit or you have been here for the long haul!

I have just had two days off due to my lower abs being hugely painful, thing I must have pulled something the other day.
Hopefully back on it after the child goes to sleep.

Hope all is going well for the rest of you and you are all eager to go again when the kids are back at school. My poor DS1 starts back today!

I've got the buns and thighs - came in a multipack with my Ri30 and another... Shred and Shed? It takes longer, I may try that once I've finished my extra stuff for doing press-ups which at current rate will be at least a month.

spinningirl10 · 15/01/2014 17:50

Errol....do you know how long it is?
Need to set my alarm earlier!!

spinningirl10 · 15/01/2014 18:00

I'm in a hurry to try it!! Guess I should maybe stick to one but I like to mix it up! Will just continue counting days to 30 though I think or I'll get confused Grin

ErrolTheDragon · 15/01/2014 18:20

I took a look at the start of killer buns before xmas - IIRC my impression was that I wouldn't have wanted to attempt it before all levels of the shred. Can't remember too much about it now - I did Ri30 instead.

WhereAreMyShoes · 15/01/2014 18:42

I did D13LV2 yesterday but I'm going to have to rest tonight. The dc have some kind of bug and I've been feeling sick at work all day and am gradually feeling rougher.

ErrolTheDragon · 15/01/2014 18:53

Oh, have a good rest and get better soon.

PeppermintCream · 15/01/2014 20:38

L2D6 - done nearly gave it a miss tonight, as the kids activities seemed to take up most of the evening, but gave myself a good talking to and made myself of it.

Tiredemma · 15/01/2014 20:41

I was going to Phone It In tonight but then decided that my body wasnt going shrink itself - so did level 2 (day 3 for me) and then did a 10 minute solution workout 'blast off belly fat'-

so now I feel like I should wake up in the morning with the body of Kylie Minogue.

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 15/01/2014 21:07

Well I was going to start again today (knee feeling pretty better) but ended up swimming in the morning, also arms and legs were feeling quite tired from other exercising yesterday so I've decided to skip today but start again tomorrow. The replacement DVD's arrived today though, along with Ri30 but the pictures on that look a bit scary!

officelady · 15/01/2014 21:14

D14L2 done - swapped from 1kg to 2kg weights for nearly all the strength circuits Grin

I still struggle with the v-fly squat move though - followed Anita and only used my 1kg weights for that one. I think it must work a muscle that I don't have - which would explain why my arms are so puny Blush
Keep going everyone - we're nearly half way through January!!

JRmumma · 15/01/2014 21:39

L1D10 done! Ive never stuck with any home exercise this long before and so I'm well proud of myself.

Going to start L2 tomorrow and in looking forward to doing some different moves as i was getting a bit bored.

So that's a third of the way through. Wasn't going to weigh myself till Friday but I'm tempted to do it in the morning instead to see how much ive lost on L1. I'm just thinking it might discourage me if ive not lost anything yet?

ErrolTheDragon · 15/01/2014 21:49

Oh well done everyone.

JR, unless you've modified your eating as well, shred will show inch loss and a change in shape but not necessarily weight loss because you gain muscle, which is denser than fat. Scales don't tell anything like the whole story.

RalphLaurenLover · 15/01/2014 22:47

L1D8 - done!

Just ordered a tredmill!! BlushBlush

ErrolTheDragon · 15/01/2014 22:51

wow - good idea at this time of year. I'd like to do some running but I think I'd find a treadmill to hard on the old hip joint nowadays, will have to wait till the towpath near us is no longer a mudbath.

officelady · 16/01/2014 06:31

I leapt out of bed at 5.15 again this morning, raring to go - and by leapt, I mean fell, and by raring to go, I mean bleary eyed.
Still - Day 15 Level 2 is done and dusted. My cardio stamina is definitely improving, but I am still a red-faced sweaty mess by the end of the workout. Good job I've got an hour to have a cold shower and cool down my purple face before work Grin

spinningirl10 · 16/01/2014 07:05

D7 L2 d1 done!!

I decided to do L2 and not Buns and Thighs. I enjoyed it, definitely tougher and I was more sweaty at the end! I like planks so that's a good addition for me! Didn't like the pendulum lunges so much!!!

JRmumma · 16/01/2014 08:38

Thanks errol, yes ive been sort of doing SW eating, but not as successfully as id like. BUT ive lost 2lb!

I know I'm getting my shape back as my maternity jeans, which ive been still wearing since DS was born 5 months ago as they are so comfy and don't press on c-section wound, are starting to fall down. Ive not got the guts to try any of my other clothes on yet but will do at the end of the shred.

ErrolTheDragon · 16/01/2014 09:48

L1D9, plus 3x20 sec side planks per side and 3x18 inclined push-ups. The hardest part of the whole thing were those side planks.

worldgonecrazy · 16/01/2014 09:54

I took a couple of days off as I was away from home. Back to it this morning. I really didn't want to get out of bed, even though I had a "lie in" until 6.00 a.m (wow!)

Then I remembered:

a. I don't want to be a fat blimp anymore, and the only way I am going to stop being a fat blimp is to get my sorry-arse out of bed, downstairs and SHRED! Though it was tempting to think "Sod it, I will just buy bigger clothes."
b. This thread. I could never show my face on Mumsnet again if I don't keep going.

It is hard, I want spectacular resuts, rather than "good" results, and I am not going to get spectacular with only 20 minutes a day. I wish I could find time to do more. Think I might download one of those short exercise apps to do whilst dinner is cooking.

spinningirl10 · 16/01/2014 10:00

Office 5.15!! Woah that's early, well done to you! Feels good to get it done and out of the way early though doesn't it!

Must say I'm looking forward to a day off!! I've done 7 days straight through! Will do tomorrow morning and then I'm away for weekend with dp so no shredding till Monday.....will take gym kit though and do some cardio Grin

spinningirl10 · 16/01/2014 10:04

World....snap, I was up at 6!!

Agree with your reasons for doing so also!!

I am impatient for results!! Have my fav pair of diesel skinny jeans I keep trying on to judge my shrinkage!!! They do up but not sure I could sit down in them!!!

Nightwish · 16/01/2014 12:15

L3D2 finished.
Had two days off, uni again! But on Tues did walk just over 5 miles up and down hills with 8kg baby strapped to my front.

Well done for everyone still going!
I like L3 more than L2, goes way faster.
Going to try and do everyday until uni next week but I always seem to struggle to fit it in on a Sunday.

Soon going to order some more JM DVD's to move on to once I have finished. Think I might get the box sets so I can get some variety.

Im mega impatient too I tried on jeans this morning and was annoyed I still couldn't do them up don't know why I've only done 3 days! Plus I'm due on so telling myself I'm bloated as well as fat.
On the plus side when I done the shred a few months ago I took under wear pics that i looked at last night and the difference was fab, in 5 weeks I went from flabby to toned and looked great, I'm furious at myself for not only gaining it back but gaining even more

SallyFinkelstein · 16/01/2014 14:15

L1D8 done. I couldn't face getting up early to do it this morning and kept thinking "I'll do it after lunch, or maybe tonight when the kids are in bed" but after putting DS2 down for his morning nap decided to stick my gym stuff on and get it out of the way. Quite proud of myself for not giving into the temptation to sit on the sofa and do nothing, although I'm doing that now. Blush Brew

I did the YouTube one as couldn't wait to faff around with DVD (would have talked myself out of it) so could see my reflection in the mirror and the tv screen and I actually do most of it (bar press ups) at well above Anita level and a lot at Natalie level. Quite chuffed with that! Grin

Also will try to get up at 6 and do it in the morning, seems like that's a lie in for this thread!

msmoss · 16/01/2014 15:11

Another one who nearly caved and didn't do it today, but for pretty much the same reasons as worldhonecrazy decided I had to keep going. So L2 D15 done. I'm half way there!

Couldn't resist measuring up, I haven't lost any more weight, but my eating has been awful, but I have lost 2cm off my waist and 3 from under my chest. Hips are the same but I think this is because I measure the wrong bit and there isn't too much more to loose from that bit.
