Earslaps- I have three of his (yoga, cardio rev and pure strength) and tbh they are all pretty long. They do all have a shorter work out on the DVD as well, but is very much a beginner workout and I think anyone who has done the shred would find them too easy. I always think that anyone who starts off quite unfit, does the beginner one a few times and thinks 'well that was hard but I can do it- I will try the next one now' is in for a shock! The gulf between them is vast. Yoga is 60 minutes, cardio rev about 56 mins and strength 66. So none of them short. Absolutely great workouts though, and he is really motivating.

EarSlaps · 10/03/2014 09:54

L2 is not too bad 2tired. A lot less of the planks but more work on the obliques and a sweatier workout I think.

Thanks for the info notyummy, think I might need to save Bob for when ii have more time!

Jacksterbear · 10/03/2014 10:29

I love L2 6w6p 2tired and Earslaps. Less plank work and more cardio than L1, which I prefer (they are both great workouts though).

Urghh, have come down with a nasty wheezy cough which is being set off by any vigorous movement - not a good day to try out the new weights! Might try some Pilates later.

2tiredtocare · 10/03/2014 13:08

30DS L3 D3 done. I'll liok forward to L2 of 6w6p, only 12 more days of L1 to go! Im not 6w6packing today as have pilates class tonight

oohdaddypig · 10/03/2014 22:20

Who is this Bob of which you speak? Are all his workouts longer length compared to JM?

30DS L3 started. Jumping jacks with weights - unexpected pleasure (not)..

notyummy · 11/03/2014 07:23

daddypig- Tis Bob Harper- fellow trainer with Jillian on the Biggest Loser. All the ones of his that I have are longer (and considerably harder- except perhaps the yoga) than Jillian's. I do rate him though- great workout and he is very personable and motivating.

threestepsforward · 11/03/2014 10:33

Morning all :)

Did a long brisk walk along the sea front yesterday, pier to pier and back. Not sure about distance but was around 2 hours.
Followed by Rodney yoga in the evening. Nice!

Today my plan is L1 or L2 S&S followed by one of my yoga DVDs.

Once my work is finished I seem to have more time on my hands sans-dog (he was on 11 pills a day over the last year or so - all to be given at different times of the day...).

So keeping busy is good for me physically and stops me from thinking too much about him...

Have a good day everyone and happy JM/Bob/Sean'ing...

So bob's workouts are longer AND tougher?!

Mmm, think Jillian is my woman :)

Whitershadeofpale · 11/03/2014 13:37

Hi all, I'm coming back after a long break. I'm a bridemaid at the end of April and would really like to get into shape, I've been mainly doing bfbm and nmtz plus power walking a few times a week.

Last night I did L1 &2 of shred. Some of the women I work with are on a bit of a fitness kick so if our days not to busy we go into the meeting room and do KB+T or yoga meltdown Blush

crazy88 · 11/03/2014 21:29

Hi everyone, just starting jillian again after a few months off (I don't exercise after the clocks go back!) and so far this week have done NMTZ and BFBM, planning on killer buns in the morning but it will mean a half past 5 start as dh away.

Honestly am in agony but am trying to "push through it" as the lady says! She had me in great shape last year so I know it will be worth it once the soreness passes Grin

crazy88 · 11/03/2014 21:33

whitershade I swear by a combination of NMTZ and BFBM, you really can't go wrong. I never got on with Shred, probably because once you've done the longer workouts it feels a bit tame, but it's handy if you're short of time. Can't believe you get to do jillian at work!! Do you have any jobs going? Envy

Whitershadeofpale · 11/03/2014 21:48

The tip is to get your boss addicted Wink. We all just grab something to eat at our desk and use our break for Jillian. It's better than reading the sidebar of shame!

I did bfbm today. Tomorrow we're doing yoga meltdown at work and then I'm doing a power walk in the evening.

I've just received her new one week shred which I'm planning on doing in the week leading up to the wedding. I've watched it through and it looks doable but I think we all know that with Jillian looks can be deceptive!

EarSlaps · 12/03/2014 10:05

Exercising at work sounds great, what a good idea. All that exercise should help make you all more alert as well as boosting morale. I guess it's cheaper than giving some sort of corporate deal on a gym membership too.

I like BFBM and NMTZ but I struggle to find the time for them. I might try and do a shortened version of NMTZ today though. I really want to get those arms toned for showing off in the summer Smile.

crazy88 · 12/03/2014 12:54

Well I did it, I got up at 5:30 to do killer buns, it was painful but glad I did it, just a bit surreal to have been up for 3 hours by the time I left to do school run! I was doing 5:50 am starts last year and it was doable.

whitershade I have not seen a one week shred, how long are the workouts? I have never done yoga meltdown either as I loathe yoga with a passion, partly because I am not bendy enough and partly because it is so BORING Grin but I could be tempted if it's jillian. Is it any good?

2tiredtocare · 12/03/2014 13:08

6w6p L1 D10 and 30DS L3 D4 done

Jacksterbear · 12/03/2014 13:08

Welcome / welcome back whiter and crazy88. Loving the sound of those work-place sessions! Grin

L1 Ripped done with 3kg weights and full/proper push-ups - quite chuffed, and it wasn't that hard (except the front raises in circuit 3). I also did a Shaun upper body workout with them, but the stuff he does with weights is not as hard as JM. All good, but I did have a 10 min nonstop coughing fit afterwards Sad.

Whitershadeofpale · 12/03/2014 14:29

I've just done yoga meltdown (at work) and am going for a power walk later.

crazy88 I do like yoga anyway but its not like traditional yoga, its more like strength using your own body weight inspired by yoga poses. I find it quite difficult but its very good for toning.

The one week-shred is 2 workouts a day of 30 mins. You do 30mins of strength in the morning and then 30 mins of cardio in the evening, there's a diet plan too but I'm not using it. I don't see any resaon why you culdn't combine the 2 for an hour long workout.

mamijacacalys · 12/03/2014 19:36

Have progressed to L3 of 30 day shred.
What do you experts recommend as an alternative before I get too bored and stop doing these DVDs altogether?
Is 6 weeks 6 pack better or Ripped in 30 better? Or should I get both so I get enough variety?
TIA Smile

crazy88 · 12/03/2014 20:52

mamijacacalys personally not keen on 6w6p, it has a really weird format compared to the others where you basically do the entire workout, and then do it again faster Hmm. I never felt that it was doing anything, compared to the abs section of NMTZ and the standing abs bits in BFBM. I've a feeling level one is on YouTube so you could always check it out and see what you think.

If you like shred, you will like ripped, so if you're looking for a short workout in the same 3-2-1 format I would go for that.

I am considering throwing caution to the winds and getting Body Revolution. Anyone any experience/advice? Bit wary cos I really don't need to lose weight, just need to tone up, and it sounds like more of a weight loss plan with diet sheets etc.

whitershade let us know how you get on. Sounds weird that it would be cardio in the evening, I would have thought it would be the other way round, but I would not argue with Jillian!

Whitershadeofpale · 12/03/2014 21:03

Here's the link in case anyone's interested

I spotted one arm burpees! OMG, I hate burpees.

mamijacacalys · 12/03/2014 21:41

Thanks crazy.
Have ordered ripped and will report back.

EarSlaps · 12/03/2014 22:28

Did L4 Ripped whilst waiting for dinner to cook.

I actually really like 6w6p, the different format was a nice change between shred and Ripped. I like mixing up the different DVDs to get a good variety of workouts. I should be quite happy with my current DVDs for a bit, but I wonder which one will be released next in the UK.

oohdaddypig · 13/03/2014 07:37

Mamijacaclys - I'm with you on nearly finishing shred.

I have already tried the JM yoga. I do yoga anyway and agree its not very yogic in the zen sense but it's a fab workout for strength and flexibility.

Haven't tried RI30 yet but current plan is mix L2 and 3 of shred or RI30 with yoga, BFBM and NMTZ. I have got em all! Maybe I need 6w6p too!!

Still hoping I find my waist in all this vain but I'm wondering if tall people just have thick waists?! (Yeah right)

crazy88 · 13/03/2014 09:35

oohdaddypig Smile at thick waist theory! I never totally lost my belly fat last year when JMing but I think that's probably because a) I have 3 kids b) I am over 35 and c) diet/booze! Probably mostly c. It's an uncomfortable truth that the things I like most, ie beer and sugar, basically get stored as belly fat. Am convinced that if I just cut out the booze and the sugar and did jillian, it would go, but it makes me shiver just thinking about it...

notyummy · 13/03/2014 12:14

We'll this tall person has def found her waist (nearly a 6 pack...) but sadly but my teeny tiny buns and ripped thighs are still slightly missing in action, despite a bazillion squats and lunges. I try and tell myself that my arse would be touching my knees by now in my mid 40s if I hadn't done the Shred, so the fact that it's not small and pert is something I will have to live with (and the saddle bags.) Bloody genes.
