Goodness me, not 4kg for the supermans! I did them without weights and just focused on lifting up as high as I could manage instead.

I think we need a new thread? I'm away with just my iPhone and a 3G signal, is anyone else able to start one and copy the OP?

Ripped L4 done today, struggled a bit but was using my 4kg weights.
can you do the superman one with those? Shock I can't even manage that one with 1.5s, using water bottles... but 10lbers (which is ~4kg) for the others except the chest flies 3kgs.

I don't know about better shape but I'm fitter now than I can remember being inages, and stronger in the arms than I've ever been (which isn't saying much!).

Everything is a work in progress but it is great seeing the changes in yourself

Urghhh! I have totally failed at JM this week. I've done nothing.

Not sure what's up with me. I'm struggling to get into work too. Can't make decisions, can't concentrate. My laptop is running very slowly which is driving me nuts as it takes so long to do anything that I've almost forgotten what I was doing by the time my laptop's caught up with me. Argghhh!

Anyway, I just need to get back into JM. I'll be fine once I get going, it's getting started that's so difficult. Also a bit concerned that my knees still feel a bit crunchy even though I haven't done anything since for a week and 2 days.

Glad to hear you're all doing well. Very tempted by kettlebells, perhaps I need a change!

Today I've done KB&T L1 and a 30 minute run Grin

Stunt I'm 42 and definitely in better shape than when I was 25!

Hmmm I don't have any mfp friends....I'll see if I can pm you kick, if you want friends stunt pm me and I'll send you my username.

Another MFP addict here. I have noticed a huge difference since starting JM / pilates / kettlebells. I probably do a maximum of 1.5 hours exercise a week but things are coming back into shape. The bingo wings are completely gone and my arms and legs are more toned. My butt definitely looks better, more lifted. I still have work to do on my thighs and abdomen but there is definitely a visible improvement. At the end of the day it's a work in progress and as long as I see improvement, no matter how small, then I'm happy if it takes a year or two to get to where I want to be. Four pregnancies, two of which ended up with sections have taken their toll but the plan is to be in better shape at 40 than when I was 25.

I'm on MFP but don't really use it, too lazy/scared too see my food consumption written down!

Me too, can I friend you? I am pleased to report that my belly, loose skin and all is starting to disapear and I am beyond pleased as I didnt think it was possible after my 3 babies! Its always going to be wrinkly for want of a better description due to the stretchmarks but I dont care. I have taken all the different AB moves from JM, pilates and circuit training and written them down as a vicious AB circuit when I cant face Jillianing, I gave it a first whirl today and it took about 20 minutes

Destroyed. What the heck is all that chat all the way through about goals?! Liked the meditative bit at the end though. Lots of negativity for me to exhale Grin

I have really toned up. My legs were always toned bit I have much better definition in my back and arms. I just need my wobbly tummy to sod off now :)

No JM here today but had a Pilates class instead

StuntNun · 24/04/2014 19:26

All the advice I read was to start with an 8kg kettlebell which I was fine with at my class, it's just the DVD I have is too tough with an 8kg bell. To be honest I hope expect to move to heavier weights over time anyway so that's why I erred on the side of a heavier bell to start with. Look up swing squats on YouTube to see the movement, you squat then snap your legs straight to drive the bell upwards. It's great for the hamstrings in particular which can be quite tricky to exercise.

Ears....I'm doing KB&T now! On day 24 so 6 more to go! It is working and tbh my legs are ok but it's that one area that always needs extra helpGrin

I started with a 4kg kettle and now use a 6kg, with an eight for the double swings. I'm puny though - but have strong legs.

Would love more toned inner thighs too:)

Killer is great for thighs and bum Spinning, at least mine are certainly aching after yesterday's session. You could hold onto a kettlebell/dumbell too during some exercises to make it harder if you are crazy.

Ooh I was looking at kettle bells in tkmax this morning. Can't remember how heavy they were but I think 5kg and 8kg. Going to have a look at that DVD Stunt. Can I ask what differences you've seen doing it? It's the tops of my legs that I really want to tone Grin

EarSlaps · 24/04/2014 13:22

Think I might pop that DVD and a couple of kettlebells on my birthday list Smile. What sort of weight would you recommend for me (I average a 3kg weight for JM- 2kgs for tricep and shoulder things and 4-5kg+ for chest presses)?

Report
IdkickJilliansAss · 24/04/2014 12:37

It must be, I have all my dumbells out for jm'ing as some are too light for certain moves whilst others are too heavy. As I said she is a personal trainer and has been for years; she has a circuit training class for mums and there we use between 8-12kg for swings but I couldnt use them one handed, 4kg sounds more than enough to me

Report
StuntNun · 24/04/2014 12:12

I'd be worried about dropping it on my head IdKick! I think it's quite normal to use different bells for different exercises.

I wasnt suggesting you use a 16kg weight!

Report
StuntNun · 24/04/2014 11:28

It's this DVD OnlyOne. I'm fine with the 8kg bell for one handed swings IdKick but on the DVD you're doing things like a halo with the kettlebell around your head or sit ups while holding the kettlebell above you with one hand. With the swings you use the muscles of the legs to drive the weight up and just hold on to it with your hands so it's great for developing e.g. glutes and hamstrings. I'm trying to shift the baby flab at the moment so I'm more interested in toning my abdominals and lower back to improve my posture and shape.
