Not sure where August went to, but September is upon us and the shredding continues!
join us here, all current shredders, hopeful shredders to be, rebooting shredders and nearly finished shredders, for support, encouragement and occasional necessary kicks up the bum...

Well, I did nothing last night as feeling grotty, so no excuses tonight ....

Went for my little run earlier this afternoon... hip complaining a bit so I think I may have to stop that. Bugger.

deeplybaffled · 12/09/2013 21:06

Level 2, day 3 done. Thank god that's another one ticked off!

Just got in from a work meeting so couldn't do tonight. Will have another go at L2 tomorrow and hope to be able to complete more without exchanging for L1 equivelants!

This is a great thread for making me check in. Thanks deeplybaffled.

Sleepyhead33 · 12/09/2013 22:27

Errolthedragon thanks for the tip-will try it next to the sofa:)

deeplybaffled · 12/09/2013 23:54

Sleepyhead33 - glad it's helping, but must admit it is pretty selfish really, as it guilts me into carrying on and checking in too!

I failed miserably this week. Only done it once since Saturday. :-(

ErrolTheDragon · 13/09/2013 08:54

Once is better than nothing. OK, got to get myself moving...

ErrolTheDragon · 13/09/2013 10:12

L2D7 done, and dog walked.

niceupthedance · 13/09/2013 11:32

Day 6 of NMTZ.... Ok I have missed a fair few but I have lost 6lbs since the beginning of September so I'm just going to keep plodding on when I can.

Don't give up glitternanny, can you do another tonight?

glitternanny · 13/09/2013 13:10

yes I will try. I don't get home from work until 8.

DorisShutt · 13/09/2013 13:46

Okay. I've just done day 1, level 1.

(I was doing C25k but my right knee decided to pack in, so now I'm doing "brisk walking when it's not raining" Confused so decided to open my cellophane wrapped copy of The Shred and have a go)

I'm all wobbly and shakey now; I've never sweated so much in my life in such a short space of time! And I think my weights are far too heavy for me as I'm fairly sure I can't lift them now - I'm stuggling with my phone FGS! And I'm supposed to do all this again tomorrow?!

RippingYarns · 13/09/2013 14:41

Doris, you don't have to use weights, maybe do a few days without until you get used to the exercises?

DorisShutt · 13/09/2013 14:54

I think I'll be fine - suspect my body is just in shock at me actually doing something! Wink

Have drunk a load of water and my muscles immediately felt better, so suspect I might have been dehydrated before I started.

RippingYarns · 13/09/2013 16:27

that's the spirit Grin

glitternanny, you haven't failed at all, you did it on saturday - that is a whole day better than not doing it at all Wink

nice, what is NMTZ please?

Errol, have you had your shoes checked? i thought mine were good (well, they aren't bad) but they don't suit my gait - i need firm shoes with lots of airpockets apparently - who knew i'd get into the science of running Shock

ZingWantsCake · 13/09/2013 16:45

Quinoa does not shred, she pouts, with grace

ErrolTheDragon · 13/09/2013 17:22

Doris - do have some water before as well as after next time. What size weights have you got? I have a couple of sizes as can do a bit more for bicep curl/chest fly type moves than for most of the others. Try with cans/water bottles for the ones you find hard to start with and then you'll get a better idea of what may suit you.

Ripping - I'm using shoes I went out and got from a specialist running shop after I started getting hip pain last year (bizarrely the next village has a row tucked away containing a very good pie and cake shop, a hairdresser and a running shop) - the bloke looked at my feet said it was because I overpronate badly and I got some shoes that should suit me. I was fine with them this year until last week when I tried the road instead of the towpath so perhaps its a combination of factors. Seems ok again now so I'll probably try again offroad.

I also do 'brisk walking when its not raining with stops for my dog to sniff/mark/investigate other dogs' - I'm sure that must count as some sort of interval training.Grin

RippingYarns · 13/09/2013 17:35

i have the added high instep too

this is going to cost me a small fortune isn't it Grin

i'm going to wish i'd taken up travel instead

DorisShutt · 13/09/2013 19:19

Using 2kg weights - think a 1kg would have been better!

It's the side lunges when bringing up the weights to eye level that kill me - everything else isn't horrendous. Tough yes, but more or less doable!

breakingbadaddict · 13/09/2013 19:44

Ooo can I join? I started mine again last weekend, I have had Sunday & Thurs as rest days, Sunday cause I couldn't move after Fri/Sat & yesterday, just cause! Need a kick to get it done tonight, DH has gone off to his warrior class, I'd join him if level 1 shred didn't kill me so much! I'd really show myself up at warrior! Lol

niceupthedance · 13/09/2013 19:46

Ripping, NMTZ is no more trouble zones (Jillian DVD), basically 40 mins of weights and mat work with just 5 mins cardio warm up at the start. I prefer it because all the leaping about in the others kills my boobs and also because you can pick and choose circuits from the menu, therefore you don't have to do them all if you don't have time... Or get too knackered Wink

RippingYarns · 13/09/2013 19:47

ooohhhhh, i like the sound of that one!

thanks nice

breakingbadaddict · 13/09/2013 21:12

Done day 6 level 1, just out of interest how many of you can do the push ups not on your knees, I keep trying but can do about 3 b4 collapsing! (Weakling!)

wallpaperaddict · 13/09/2013 21:15

I have progressed on from the shred and have just completed my first workout on ripped in 30! Phew, that was quite intense, very fast moving but I enjoyed it! I'm planning on alternating between ripped and c25k. I like the sound of NMTZ too!

Sleepyhead33 · 13/09/2013 21:53

Just done L2 day 3 after last night off. Ever so slightly better but still only doing the Anita version of the walking press ups so not sure if that is doing much!
Military push things were easier next to the sofa so thanks for the tip.

I definitely need two weights when I do it - 1kg and 2kg. The v fly things would be impossible (for me) with the 2s! Whereas for the bicep stuff I think I could probably go higher now.

Very impressed with people moving on from shred. I can't imagine getting to a point where this would be a breeze!!- I think I will be doing this for 90ish days at this rate before I can actually complete the Natalie moves and I haven't even started L 3 yet!

Good luck with the weekend shredding :)
