Military push ups? I have large norks and weak arms so push ups just aren't happening for me - anything to make it slightly less "ouch" would be a bonus!

DorisShutt · 14/09/2013 13:45

L1D2 done. Dying now - and I still have to go cut the grass Hmm

DH was a bit Confused when I threw him out of the living room with death threats should he return to spy and even more so when I came in red faced and panting to grab a shower.

Right. On with the grass

Bumpotato · 14/09/2013 17:56

I've not been posting but did level 3 day 7 today. Like ripping I've not really lost weight it is the red wine I need to stop but I'm definitely fitter and my shape is changing. My back doesn't wobble when I do jumping jacks these days.

I'm going to start Ripped on Wednesday and a diet too. Either Jillian's own, 1200 a day on MFP of 5:2 I haven't made up my mind yet.

I've not had a day off since starting. I've been unwell this week with a cold so haven't enjoyed L3. When I'm finished with ripped I will come back and do L3 again I think.

leezl · 14/09/2013 18:14

I feel like I broke through a great big personal wall today! I did L1D7 after 8 hours at work and for the first time ever I managed all the jumping jacks without either stopping or modifying them (ie, holding my belly with my hands Confused). I feel so strong!!!

RippingYarns · 14/09/2013 18:44

Leezl, that's brilliant!

and bump i totally get you there

i'm going to shred tomorrow, c25k is only 3 days a week, i feel sooooo lazy and this chocolate i'm eating right now weight isn't going to shift itself

hope Doris isn't still in the garden Grin

DorisShutt · 14/09/2013 19:20

Nope, back in Grin

Did do 3 hours though including trimming the edges manually with the long shears as the strimmer battery was flat. Kept imagining Jillian yelling "unless you puke, faint or due, keep going" as I eyed up the path and thought about quitting. Unfortunately, I've just tried to walk upstairs to put DS to bed and actually ended up crawling up Hmm I think I may need to google quad and hamstring stretches!

Still feel "glowing" euphemism for hot, sweaty and red in the face

Sleepyhead33 · 14/09/2013 20:16

Right L2 D4 done. It doesn't seem to be getting any easier in the way L1 did around the same time. I am pushing myself to complete more of her versions now rather that swapping. So I am doing the plank jacks now rather than jumping jacks.

I can't believe some people find the cardio easier-I sweat buckets. the squat thrusts are soooo hard!

Doris, completely remember crawling up and down the stairs after the first few days of L1 -all the lunges and squats. V impressed that you were able to go out gardening!

Ripping-you certainly don't sound lazy. just reading your posts makes me feel tired:)

DorisShutt · 15/09/2013 15:36

L1D3 - and it's definitely not getting easier... Sad

deeplybaffled · 15/09/2013 18:10

About to do level 2, day 4...the joy...gritting my teeth and thinking of the burst of virtue that I'm hoping eill follow it;)

Did 6 week 6 pack then level 3 shred. With hangover.
It almost cured the hangover :)

deeplybaffled · 15/09/2013 18:52

Done! Nearly half way through the 30 now - would love to be finished by first weekend in October if I can...

OP posts:
DorisShutt · 15/09/2013 18:52

Try

DorisShutt · 15/09/2013 18:53

Oops!

Trying to work out when I can fit it in tomorrow with a full day at work. Considering setting the alarm for 5.15 and doing it first thing. I suspect that the alarm will be set and the snooze button mashed Hmm Blush

startwig1982 · 15/09/2013 22:11

I'm on L1 day 4 today and found it relatively easy, apart from the panting and sweating during the cardio. It's the jump rope that gets me!

conquita · 16/09/2013 02:03

I'm in, Day one level one done! couch to 5k tomorrow and then shredding again on Weds Smile This is the first time I have shredded since 2011, I have spent the last year doing pilates and I noticed my upper body strength was totally different this time in comparison to shred in 2011.

deeplybaffled · 16/09/2013 08:40

Sleepyhead33, I know what you mean about the cardio - the squat thrusts are the work of the devil, and the oblique twists knock all the oxygen out of me! But I keep telling myself, nearly half way there.....:)

Level 3 day 9 today. I'm still poorly but not had a break. I'm looking forward to ripped.

I stood on the scales this morning and was shocked that my weight has suddenly dropped a bit. I've lost 8.5 lbs in the 4 weeks without doing anything much about my diet. Though the weight might be more to do with my cold.

ErrolTheDragon · 16/09/2013 11:05

L2D8 done. Dog refused to walk sensible animal wimp.

Did a bit of sailing this sat and a brief windsurf with a 4m sail - which had hitherto been beyond my ability to lift - and it seemed fine! Smile This has been one of my main motivations for doing the shred - to increase upper body and core strength so that I can do these sports with DD instead of sitting whining about never having had any arm strength.

Really want to persist with running too if I can ... I was talking to a friend who's a keen runner (long distance/fells!) who told me that running on hard surfaces is really bad not simply because they're hard but because they're too even, so your feet fall the same every time - apparently running on rougher ground is much easier on your joints/feet because of the variation.

mairik · 16/09/2013 16:35

Hi, just came across this thread, good to hear of so many other people shredding! I'm L1D6 today, haven't seen/noticed/felt any real progress so far, does this fit with others experiences? Am not generally good at sticking to exercise plans but am determined to try do this for 30 days!

DorisShutt · 16/09/2013 19:35

L1D4 done.

Managed to actually do some bicycle ab crunches rather than just repeating the previous side crunches where one arm is on the floor.

My stomach is now so achy (not pulled muscles, just shocked muscles!) I don't actually want any dinner Shock How the bloody hell do I fix this?!

Sleepyhead33 · 16/09/2013 21:20

baffled...halfway there! level 2 day 5 done :). Absolutely shattered now though; I really went for it tonight as I missed last night.
I am not a tuaaly halfway there though as there is no way I will be ready for level 3 in 5 days. I am doing mainly Anita moves and struggling with that at times tbh.
mairik- I have had good results but I have gone from doing nothing and eating rubbish (5ft 3 and 11st 11) to this and 1400 calories a day. Have lost 11lbs since 18th August and am definitely firmer (still wobbly but less so) and have lost inches. the good results are the reason I am sticking with it as I am certainly no exercises lover!

Doris, well done. I think I started to feel stronger from day 4 or 5. I am never hungry after exercise which is good as it means no nighttime snacking for me. I eat my dinner a couple of hours before though, with the children.

deeplybaffled · 16/09/2013 22:05

Me too, sleepyhead! Half way and slightly amazed I've got this far...
Although I am pretty sure I won't really be ready for level 3, I'm not feeling the love for level 2, so I think I might chance it, as if I wait to be able to do all Natalie, I think I'll be about 90 ;)

mairik · 16/09/2013 22:21

Thanks for info sleepyhead33 , you've lost so much weight already, well done! I decided to move up to L2 this evening (was on L1D5) as wasn't feeling pushed enough on L1. L2 is a killer, I'm a broken woman!! Going to try it again tmrw though.

Bumpotato · 16/09/2013 23:47

My last shred tomorrow. Looking forward to ripped

ErrolTheDragon · 17/09/2013 09:58

L2D9 done.
