Not sure where August went to, but September is upon us and the shredding continues!
join us here, all current shredders, hopeful shredders to be, rebooting shredders and nearly finished shredders, for support, encouragement and occasional necessary kicks up the bum...

Grin at boob clapping. I'm using my old (from my early 20s) "Minimal Bounce" bras. They're 2 sizes too small but I'm hoping they'll fit in due course.

Did day 3 of ripped today. It's definitely different to shred as I have sore hamstrings and feel stiff again, like the first fee days of shred.

Sleepyhead33 · 20/09/2013 17:49

Most definitely need a sports bra here! With a tight under wired one underneath!

Are the moves in ripped really different?

DorisShutt · 20/09/2013 20:43

I'm not shredding tonight. Made tiramisu instead Blush

I'm quite impressed that I think I might need new sports bra's already! To be fair they are a band size up/cup size down from my usual size (as my usual size was killing me in sweat) but I think I might have to bite the bullet and get a new one as I nearly gave myself a black eye yesterday! Grin

deeplybaffled · 20/09/2013 21:04

Day 7, level 2 done! Is there a point when squat thrusts become bearable?!

OP posts:
DorisShutt · 20/09/2013 21:28

The squats are fine for me; not so much the thrusts, but that may be my weights being too heavy Confused

ErrolTheDragon · 20/09/2013 21:35

What weights are you using? Its probably better to go down a bit with good form than struggle too much (I don't always follow my own advice on this!). Different moves really need different weights.

DorisShutt · 20/09/2013 22:23

Yeah, 2kg weights. They're fine for chest flys, and the rowing move, but suck for squat & thrust and anterior raises.

Dunno if I can be arsed to spend more money...

rubbishfamily333 · 21/09/2013 08:54

Hey I was wondering how many days per week everyone is shredding? Are we meant to do it everyday?

I did four days last week and my back is killing, I'm really stiff. Also I sprained my ankle ages ago and it is hurting from the butt kicks I think. Injured party over here Shock

DorisShutt · 21/09/2013 09:11

I did 7 days but had yesterday off due to a crap day.

Back on it later today!

LemonDrizzleBitch · 21/09/2013 11:16

I've started Shredding again...

Successfully completed this back in July, had good intentions of repeating but with the DCs off school it really was hopeless

Woke up this morning hungover and feeling like crap and remembered that I hadn't felt good since stopping the shred Hmm

So I walked the dog and have just shredded and I feel better, ache like mad, but I feel better!

I couldn't have done it last time without the Shred Thread, good luck everyone who is doing it now Smile

deeplybaffled · 21/09/2013 20:30

Level 2 day 8 done...level 3 seems worryingly close! Is it a big step up again?

Sleepyhead33 · 21/09/2013 20:58

Me too deeplybaffled. l2d8 and getting scared that L3 is getting nearer. You go first and report back!

Well done LDB, Doing it again with a hangover-wow! Are you starting from the beginning again?

deeplybaffled · 21/09/2013 21:22

Oh no, sleepyhead33 - after you! I insist;)

Hey I was wondering how many days per week everyone is shredding? Are we meant to do it everyday?

I'm doing it weekdays and having the weekend off (but we usually do something active as a family one or both days). Most exercise regimes recommend at least one or two rest days a week.

rubbish - working through muscular stiffness is fine but if you're injured in any other way don't make it worse - if butt kicks are hurting you then substitute a cardio interval that doesn't.

ZingWantsCake · 22/09/2013 08:05

that's good to know errol I assumed it os everyday!

well I couldn't do it at the weekend anyway, just too much running around and other stuff to do.
still sleep training DD so evenings may or may not work.
I'll watch dvd tonight to "get me in the mood".

my plan is to start tomorrow lunchtime as soon as little ones are down for their naps.

my dumbells stil haven't arrived, but I have some wrist weights so I'll use those and a couple of food tins.

deeplybaffled · 22/09/2013 20:33

Level 2, day 9 done and I am sweating from places i hadn't known you could sweat...

Me too! typing this before my shower and my forehead is wet with my hair sticking to it-lovely:)
My husband thinks it is very strange that I log on here to confirm I have done it before showering! this thread has really kept me going.

I have a governors meeting tomorrow night so can't do day 10 until Tuesday so it looks like you will have to go first baffled and pave the way! Were you really fit before doing this? I am quite proud of having got this far since basically doing no exercise since having my 2 children (now 1 and 4) and the weight piling on.

Rubbish- I am doing it 5x usually with odd days off if I am working late-I always do it in the evening when children are in bed. No way could I sacrifice an hour in bed in the morning to get up and do it. I am always very impressed with morning shredders.

Bumpotato · 22/09/2013 22:06

Day 4 of ripped today. I had a day off yesterday because I was at a henshine on Friday night and drank my body weight in G&Ts Jillian says at the start of the DVD that we need to take one or two rest days a week.

deeplybaffled · 22/09/2013 22:24

I definitely was not really fit, I had really patchy fitness from playing badminton which is quite a stop start game, so had no stamina at all....and it shows in every damn 2 minute cardio section when I turn puce!
glad to know I'm not the only oddbod who logs on pre shower :)

OP posts:
DorisShutt · 23/09/2013 06:46

Ended up not Shredding on Friday or at the weekend as life got in the way - that and pruning our entire garden (so I did shred, just not the exercise version!). Figure Jillian has to give me some credit for the fact that my entire body is now aching?!

I've ordered new 1kg weights from Amazon which should hopefully arrive today so I don't cripple myself with shoulder raises and squat & thrusts; strangely I have no issues with bicep curls or chest flys so I must have some muscles that work! Wink

ErrolTheDragon · 23/09/2013 09:12

L3D3 done.
Windsurfed on Saturday, gone up to a 4m sail (which isn't big but at least proper adult size!) - being able to actually do something that I simply couldn't have before shows it works and makes it all worthwhile.

ZingWantsCake · 23/09/2013 09:47

doris

let me know when your weights arrive - I ordered mine on the 6th and still nothing!

Mine are coming via Prime so should be here today - hopefully, possibly!

Although, out of interest, I do wonder what poster above was deleted for?!
