Oh, what a rubbish start to the day Dingle. I would say don't run today...unless you feel a lot better later. Maybe just get out for a walk if you can and see how you feel tomorrow. No harm in having an extra rest day or two if you need it. Hope you feel better soon!

wizzler · 15/05/2013 15:53

Dingle , it sounds as if you have had a horrid day.. hope you are pulling your trainers on again soon

cinnamongreyhound · 15/05/2013 16:53

Well done OhThisIsJustGrape, I remember having a podcast malfunction once but it was very near the start so I went home and downloaded it again!

Don't run if you've got a horrible cold Dingle, sorry to hear you had a horrible start to the day :(

I'm going to training for the first time since I injured myself so fingers crossed!

OhThisIsJustGrape · 15/05/2013 17:03

I almost went home and back to bed given that it was about 10 past 5 this morning! If I hadn't downloaded weeks 1 and 2 at the same time then I would've gone home for sure. Glad I managed it though and it's put me a week ahead of myself too which never, ever happens in my life always chasing my arse Win win!

OhThisIsJustGrape · 15/05/2013 17:05

Good luck with your run Cinnamon, must be so frustrating being unable to train.

Chopstheduck · 15/05/2013 19:27

Good luck cinnamon!

smellsofsick · 15/05/2013 19:42

How'd it go Cinnamon?

cinnamongreyhound · 15/05/2013 21:07

It was ok thank you. We did 4min at 10k pace, 2min at 5k pace and 2min recovery. I did a mum run for recovery as I didn't want to stop and sped up a bit from 10k to 5k pace. Did 7k in 40 min so not bad I think.

gingerpinz · 15/05/2013 21:24

Wow, that's great cinnamon, well done!

UmBongo · 15/05/2013 22:09

Week 7 run 1 Cor! And I managed to get about 50yds further in the 25 minutes (wow, amazing, blimey, whispers the totally imaginary crowd)

Got a bit tricky around 17 minutes, but a few more minutes and I could see the home straight so that helped. First day of AF so not sure that helped, but it had stopped raining so that was good.

Well done on the training cinnamon. What's a mum run? Similar to the jog shuffle someone described earlier? My top speed? Overtaken by wheezing arthritic snails?

Off to map my run to see if I made it over the 2mile mark this time!

cinnamongreyhound · 16/05/2013 08:13

Well done UmBongo! 50 yards is still further and still progress :) a mum run is that run that mums do when they are in a rush so are making more effort but don't really run faster than walk pace. Dh asked me last night if that was a technical term!

OP posts:
BIWI · 16/05/2013 08:45

Well done, cinnamon! Glad you were able to make it, and pace sounds good. LOL at mumrun Grin

yetanotherworry · 16/05/2013 10:07

W3R3 completed. Not really a good day to do it as I have lots of other things on today so reckon I'll be struggling by the end of the day but I couldn't get out yesterday. There's just not enough hours in the day at the moment.

Well done on getting to week 7 UmBongo... I dread starting a new week and the fear of the unknown.

Cinammon, mumrun should definitely be a technical term Grin

gingerpinz · 16/05/2013 14:20

Well done everyone!

I'm not long back from Wk 3 Day 1 along the beautiful sunny beach! Have a bit of a cold so struggled a bit with my breathing towards the end of the 3min runs but managed my fastest overall pace yet so pretty happy.

migrant · 16/05/2013 14:27

Hate to mention the Daily Mail, but the online version today has an article about why dogs and humans love to run. Evidently we both get a rush from running which is similar to cocaine. This means we choose to run again and again and therefore are better at running than other species.

So basically my dog is just a junkie!! And I thought she just liked spending quality time with me..... Haha

Dingle · 16/05/2013 18:58

Well done everyone, I am feeling a tad jealous! Envy Especially as DH did W2R2 on his own last night! I still have a pounding headache but better a bit better than yesterday.

I thought I'd start running again tomorrow night, my truly darling DH has said he will repeat an extra run so we will move up to W3 together. Bless him!

SarahWithAFringeOnTop · 16/05/2013 21:09

Bah! Angry
Went out this evening, looking nervously at the big black clouds in the south west but thought I might get away with it. They didn't seem to be getting any nearer so that was OK. A few raindrops spattered on the pavement but that was all... half way in I realised I was listening to the stamina podcast (which nearly killed me last time I did it) and not the shorter one I had planned, but thought I'd carry on anyway... also around this point it dawned on me the reason the clouds weren't getting any nearer was the wind was in the other direction where the sky was black - and in the last five minutes (by which time I would have been home if I'd got the right podcast) the heavens opened, with a deluge of mixed rain and hail Angry Was so wet when I got back I thought I might as well put the bins out too and save anyone else getting wet too. And did they appreciate it? Or did they just laugh at me...bah!
But I feel so virtuous now Grin

dementedma · 16/05/2013 21:14

Failed today. Week 6 run 1 and the first time I haven't managed to complete a run Sad had to walk the last 60 seconds. Bit demoralised now

Dingle · 16/05/2013 21:31

dementedma Sorry, haven't I read on here somewhere about W6?.......don't feel bad.

Oh dear Sarah you deserve to feel virtuous.

Dingle · 16/05/2013 21:37

QUOTE;

"A lot of us on the original thread found w6r1 a tricky one too UmBongo! Glad you got through it though."

UmBongo · 16/05/2013 22:36

Yes demented I found that one a tough one too - hence the above quote! Panic Not! I dragged myself through it and am now trundling through week 7!

Well done Sarah and well done with the bins too, and well done for not battering laughing family members as well (although when truly wet through a hug will probably be just as unpopular Smile )

SarahWithAFringeOnTop · 16/05/2013 22:39

I didn't think of that UmBongo!
Had a nice warm shower and something to eat. I've recovered my sense of humour now Grin

I found weeks 5 and 6 the most challenging too, in fact I had about three goes at W5. Don't worry demented, just have another go Smile

travellingwilbury · 17/05/2013 07:34

Morning all , Wk 4 r2 done yesterday , I still struggled with the five min bits but did it .

I am going to try and get to the gym today between work and do the cross trainer and then do day 3 tomorrow .

It looks like everyone is doing really well .
Am on my stupid phone so it takes forever to loaf the thread and even longer to let me reply but I am reading and you are all motivating me , thank you .

Good luck to everyone running today .

OhThisIsJustGrape · 17/05/2013 09:14

Ran W2R2 this morning and have to say I just wasn't feeling the love :(. Not sure what was wrong, felt very achey in my back and lower legs and also quite breathless. Managed to complete it and felt much better by the end.

I ran a little further this morning and slashed a whole min off my min per km time so wondering if I'm going a little too fast and that's why I was struggling?

wizzler · 17/05/2013 11:20

I am pleased that I completed W2R2 this morning... Had a tennis match last night so was very stiff, but didnt want to start allowing myself excuses this early on in the programme.

I was half expecting to have to stop half way through, but I actually managed it , although didnt enjoy it so much.

Definitely prefer to run at dusk.. I have done 2 early mornings and neither have been much fun!

Finding this thread really helpful...reading about people who are on Week 6 and beyond is spurring me on!
