Lol at towing the dog Grin Sounds like new trainers required :( I think they are worth the small investment as good trainers will save your ankles.

cinnamongreyhound · 10/05/2013 21:23

Welcome FrankellyMyDearIDontGiveADamn! I was the same with trainers until I got into it but I didn't have any specific problems. I don't pay attention to how my foot strikes but I think I was going heel first as Laura suggests when I started.

Well done wizzler!

I ran tonight (very rare for me to run Fridays!) and really enjoyed it. I used endomondo and runkeeper at the same time. Both had moments of madness so I think I did about 8km in 45 mins. But my second toe on my non broken toe is black again :(. It had got better since I got my new trainers and was almost normal again but it hurt a bit weds and really hurts today. Don't know if its because I'm running a bit funny because of my leg or because my foots a bit swollen because its warmer, its my unbroken one as the second toe on my broken one is shorter!

I'm Volunteering tomorrow at parkrun and have a friend visiting almost straight after, hence my running tonight :)

Well I have just done w6r2, so that is the last time I get to go for a potter half way through. Shock Does that mean I am now a runner?!

Good job you have a big enough dog migrant to stop you! I have visions of a little dog being towed unknowingly!

jchocchip · 11/05/2013 01:02

Down in Kent doing new parkrun tomorrow. Will come last, but heyho someone has to :)

jchocchip · 11/05/2013 01:03

Umbongo- You are a runner. :)

migrant · 11/05/2013 01:05

Ran again last night with aforementioned dog. She seems to have this running lark figured out and bounds ahead of me with great joy after every sniff now! She almost has a look of "I'm still upright Mum!" about her!
However, last night we got caught in a huge storm and she was drenched by the time we got home. Husband opened the door, reached for a towel and dried....the dog. Sometime later he checked the wife!!

Dog races to the front door if I so much as touch my trainers. I have to put them on in secret if I'm not taking her!

jchocchip · 11/05/2013 01:09

Sweet. Guess he thought you could get your own towel/shower:). Nice to have company on your runs.

Dingle · 11/05/2013 11:44

Well done everyone and thank you for the motivation!

I have just done W1R3! I struggled a bit this morning though, my shins really hurt, I didn't have problems on r1 or r2 so I am wondering if it was the Wii Yoga or step I did yesterday!

Quite apprehensive at what W2 will bring....but excited at the same time. I upped my pace a little today too, "running" at 5.5mph.

wizzler · 11/05/2013 12:13

Well done Dingle... I am following your adventures with interest

Dingle · 11/05/2013 12:27

LOL, I feel under pressure now!

No really wizzler, hopefully we can help each other a long a bit. DH is doing it with me...trying to get DS13 motivated but getting out of bed seems to much effort at the moment! Lazy teen syndrome!

SarahWithAFringeOnTop · 11/05/2013 18:40

Ugh... what foul weather! Had to go out this morning when it was dry so couldn't run then, and watched the sky all afternoon hoping for a gap in the rain hailstorms. Eventually thought I'd found one and went for it just as the trees stopped dripping Hmm Watched the clouds building as I went round my circuit of the village (I can get round three times in half an hour) and each time they got nearer... finally finished, still in the dry, and thought I'd go the long way round the last bit to get a proper cool down... and just past the point of no return the heavens opened! Shock So I didn't exactly cool down - in fact I ran at full pelt the rest of the way, faster than the rest of the run. So I stood and stretched instead (and dripped a bit) in the hall... and DH just laughed Angry
Feel I have earned some Wine now Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 11/05/2013 19:11

Well done Dingle, that's a good pace. Sorry to hear you're in pain though.

Sounds good SarahWithAFringeOnTop!! I don't mind some rain but don't like getting drenched!

We only had 16 runners at parkrun today :(. We did avoid the rain though :)

Dingle · 11/05/2013 19:12

Oh dear sarahwithafringe I hope you have dried out now...and yes, you certainly deserve some wine! Cheers! x

smellsofsick · 11/05/2013 19:15

Right, I'm checking in, so now I HAVE to get changed and get on with it. First session tonight and I'm so looking forward to feeling every inch of my post pregnancy body wobbling through the streets.

I just hope there aren't any small children up to scare.

pennygallops · 11/05/2013 19:45

How did everyone's parkrun go? I managed to get the whole family there again Grin. DS - 26.08, me 27.17, DH 32.35 (new BP) and my DD didn't finished, she managed 2 and a half km. I have promised her we'll run together next week.
Hope everyone else enjoyed their running.

jchocchip · 11/05/2013 19:49

Go for it smellsofsick
Did my parkrun this morning at pegwell bay. Didn't come last, overtook dh near the finish Grin

jchocchip · 11/05/2013 19:51

Oh and dmil did one lap of the two lap course. Progress :)

smellsofsick · 11/05/2013 19:59

I think I'm going to die. That is all

Except Wine

SarahWithAFringeOnTop · 11/05/2013 21:45

That's what Wine is for smellsofsick!

It does get better, honest. Stick with it and well done!

wizzler · 11/05/2013 21:49

Done run 2 of wk1. Still cannot imagine running for 2 mins in one go, never mind the times you guys seem to mention. Might try going before work on Monday as I am a morning person!

wizzler · 11/05/2013 21:50

Well done smellof

UmBongo · 11/05/2013 23:29

Well done wizzler trust me - you can do it! Stick with it and do as Laura tells you and you will find yourself running. I found running for a minute knackering for the first week and apparently tomorrow night I will be doing actual running for a record breaking 25 minutes.

If you find a week really tough, just repeat the week. Keep at it.

BIWI · 12/05/2013 09:26

wizzler - it is amazing to consider running for even 5 minutes when you're in week 1 - but trust us, you will! And then you'll run for 8 minutes, and then for 10 ...

FrankellyMyDearIDontGiveADamn · 12/05/2013 10:29

Thanks for all the tips everyone. Did W4R1 this morning and my ankles don't feel half as bad as they did after W3R1.

A quick question, I go on holiday on Thursday and will miss two runs (W4R3 and W5R1). Should I pick up where I left off with W4R3 or should I drop back to W4R1 or even do W3R3?
