Well done all- glad to see there are still quite a few of us hanging on in there.

Been tough these last 4 days but have stayed on the wagon(ish) and definitely a lot less puffy than I was when I got back from my hols. Greek salad tonight (I make with reduced fat feta) and a cheeky glass of wine and........drum roll......The Killing III which has arrived from Amazon at last- yay yay yay !! (you have to know how utterly shite tv is in Hong Kong to fully appreciate my excitement here).

Think I've also found the HK equivalent of British Military Fitness/ Military Style Bootcamp which always works really well for me in terms of quick results on fitness and muscle tone. Have to do the 4 hr introductory course next weekend. Dh has manfully stepped up to the task of entertaining both kids.

Hi all,
I am looking for a group to help me lose up to a stone. I know it's not loads, but I do struggle to stick to diets so hoped I could jump in here?
I am doing 1500 cals a day and hoping to lose about 1lb per week, plus a bit of exercise to move things along.

Moving

In London I did BMF once a week on a Sunday morning in addition to low level cardio (cycle or run 6 miles to work 5 days a week- cycling I did both ways, running I just used to do one way and get the tube back). The BMF totally transformed my muscle tone- I had really defined arms, and also all the sprint work involved made my cardio fitness go through the roof so I could actually get up the demon hill on my cycle and not have to get off and push.

Second experience was in Dubai and there I did a military style bootcamp 3 x a week- 2 circuit classes and one running class. Within 3 months, my 1 mile run time went from 7mins 30 secs to 6 mins 19secs and again, my muscle tone improved beyond belief (could do 60+ sit ups in one minute and 70+ full press ups, and hold the plank for 3 mins). I think I am quite lucky in that I do seem to gain muscle quite easily- I used to row in college and I was ripped, despite my massive bar bill Grin.

I just think the benefit is being in an environment where you are being pushed to the absolute max (as in, feel like you're going to die or puke). I've also had very good results with a couple of personal trainers but its just crazy expensive and good trainers are very hard to find IMO.

Sorry- that was long and largely irrelevant- the crux is that with very intense workouts that combine sprint cardio and weightbearing exercises (press ups, sit ups, squats etc) I find I get a very good pay off for time invested, and at the moment, time is what I'm really short of.

Rich man you've inspired me - I used to love BMF - right am going to sign up for buggy fit and find out if there is a BMF local to me or if I'll have to head into Edinburgh. I'm loving my long walks now spring is coming - today and yesterday I managed 6 miles each day (and 5 miles a day on Mon and Tues) - the hills are getting easier even with the buggy.

Report
Sophiathecheesefairy · 21/02/2013 19:22

So how long does it take you to do 6 miles?

Report
YellowWellies · 21/02/2013 20:23

Between 1-2 hours usually - the distance tends to be broken up with doing stuff like shopping, docs appointments etc as I walk everywhere during the week. I will usually go for a dedicated walk just for the sake of it in the afternoon for an hour.

Report
utopian99 · 21/02/2013 21:24

I've been going for pram jogs for half an hour interspersed with walking as my running abilities have taken a pasting since getting pg. Also doing pramactive 3 times a week which is a bit like circuits - we're about to move to woking though - anyone from around there and can recommend a similar thing??

Doing well this week until awful night on Tuesday night which resulted in minimal exercise yesterday and eating a bucket of rubbish. Bit self indulgent today too - back on the wagon tomorrow!

Oh lord every week recently I have been having a bad week and rreading weigh in, sometimes the stress wins out and I can't think about what I'm stuffing in my face as I don't know what else to do in that moment. Things will hopefully calm down again soon. DD1 is such a handful though.

Welcome Rowing and well done Sophia - that's an amazing week.

My weigh in tomorrow - not sure I've done very well but DH has been off work for half term and I may have drunk a lot more booze every evening than usual....

Of course I did get back on te scales the next day to level off at 11 6 Confused I knew it was so kind of fluke, but a 4 lb loss is more than acceptable in my book. So am still really chuffed.

Just put my hairy dieters jalfrezi together for tonight, with chapatti rather than nan.

Your walking sounds brill yw I try to walk as much as poss, sometimes into town and sometimes at Windsor Great Park. I love it.

crazy I'll join you too. Had a great day on Friday (pramactive and 90min walk and well under daily calorie balance on mfp) but still have gained 2 lb as of this morning after my appalling will power Wed and thurs. Just sick of only eating miserable veg and feeling hungry.

Someone incentivise me?

Hi everyone, someone said no food tastes as good as being slim feels. I keep trying to remember that whenever I see a cake... Have been much more restrained recently but had a bit if a family do yesterday and couldn't help eating a BIG piece of cake... And we had a roast for tea, that can't be good although it was very nice. Straight and narrow now though, weigh in on Tues to see if I've actually made any difference - that will be the first time since my initial weigh in on the new scales last week.

Monday again? Already?

Weighed in today- 10st 1lb, so basically back where I was before I went on my holiday beer binge (although I can now confirm that there is truth in the thing about beer being good for milk production). Watching the Killing III in the evenings, so that helps me stop snacking as DH refuses to pause it so I can run to the fridge and get chocolate.

Got my crossfit introduction next weekend. Idly wondering if I should try to do some exercise before then in order to prime the cogs, or if I should just unleash hell on myself on Saturday. I really think this is the answer for me, but problem is that I'm going to have to do an 8pm class twice a week which is going to massively suck. I'd actually rather do the 5am one, but DD is really unsettled between 4-6am so that's not going to happen for the foreseeable.

Dye and Crazy Keep the faith. Just keep on keeping on and you'll get there. Year 1 of motherhood is such a rollercoaster. It is bloody hard trying to lose weight when you are getting broken sleep and are bf'ing. I have a LOT of help (all childcare here is FT, live in, so I have my "nanny" even on my 2 non-work days) so my life with 2 kids is pretty easy by UK standards...and I still practically run to the fridge to get wine at 7pm. Whenever I have a "poor me" moment, I give myself a swift boot up the backside.

Can I join you? ebf 8 week old DS 2, I'm at home with him and yet to do more than a dog walk! and I can't stop eating! and craving sweets!
low carb has worked really well for me in the past, but I've heard it's not advised in the early months of breastfeeding, and thoughts?

Are people doing ww? that has also worked for me, though it is irritating and expensive... I have a huge amount to lose, 55lbs. It's such a depressing amount I don't know where to start. and I am hungry and tired! and dispirited!! someone say something encouraging about bfing and weight loss being possible?
I made a big batch of veg soup which will help me this week. what is working for everyone?

Hello Blackcurrants. Welcome! I lost a massive 600 g this week Blush I'm ok with it, I thought I could well have gained this week. I got into such a tizzy this week and just pushed food into my gob to push down the stress! Stupid but I just went with the flow to be honest and some days it's like that in my house!! I will be slowly slowly shiftinmg this weight and thats ok with me so far.

Nothing bloody well fits comfortably that (you would think) should be incentive to shift some wieght quicker but doesn't always work for me!!

Go righmanpoorman, the wieght will fall off you when you start up your crazy exercising! I'm proud of you for having the energy to go do it! I'm sure you will fab at the end of it (when your fitness picks up).

Madmonkeys you seem to be doing pretty well, bar the cake/roast, we gotta have a few treats I think otherwise it's all slog slog slog.

utopian - you can do it, how old is your LO now? still quite small if I remember rightly. Just little bit here and there of trying to be good or better than terrible is what I've been doing :)

Well between 1 and 1.5 lbs off this week - I'm happy with that after a lazy weekend and half a bag of poppadom crisps last night - whoops! My clothes are getting baggier and I'm 12lb down from where I started - not long and I'll be a stone down! I never used to be any good at visualising weight loss but DS is 12lb and he feels like he weighs a tonne so am tres chuffed! :-)

Report
crazypaving · 25/02/2013 12:18

Shock my usual sneaky mid-week weigh and by some miracle I dropped 2lb overnight! may have had something to do with ds2 feeding constantly leading to dehydration (god I'm tired) but it means I've broken the 11st barrier and am 10st 13lb!! my misery is achieving something!!

it's so hard when the weather is so cold and shit, but I'm trying to remember it won't always be like this(right? right???) and at some point I may actually be able to peel off a few blessed fat disguising layers. the thought of that is occasionally keeping me on the wagon.
