Anyone want to join me in a get a bit fitter support thread for the seriously unfit?

When I say seriously unfit,I mean I am one of those people who I dont think has ever got the whole way through a warm up routine on a DVD.

So I am not expecting miracles, but would like it if anyone were to join me to help me and perhaps themselves to start getting a little bit fitter, even if it is only for 1 month.

Personally I am in the process of digging out old DVDs/videos,and about to stick one on,and see what I can cannot do.

The job starts in Nov so I have about 7 weeks to practice getting on and off the floor without saying "oof" every time Blush

I am determined to keep up the walking though. I've found some good places nearby to walk though which are more out of sight.

Typinginsecret · 17/09/2012 09:46

Sorry just rushing and off topic!

Million - I am English but have been living in Ireland for 14 years ... Feel free to ask me any questions ... Pm if you want x

TheOneWithTheHair · 17/09/2012 18:52

I did body balance and aqua aerobics today. I feel ok but I think it might hurt in the morning. I've booked into Pilates tomorrow. I feel the need to make the most of my current motivation. :)

How is everyone else doing?

whyme2 · 18/09/2012 10:40

So this morning I walked 1.5miles in 30 minutes. Quite surprised myself how far it was when I plotted the route. I am going to do it every week day.

TOWTH - you sound scarily motivated! Well done.

TheOneWithTheHair · 18/09/2012 11:53

Well done whyme2 and thanks. I am motivated but I think it's because this is the first time in a long time circumstances and attitude have come together iykwim?

I gave up dancing at 18 and three dcs and 17yrs later it's the first time I've had the will or the time to get fit. Dc3 has just started nursery, dc1 has just started college, amillionyears started this thread and a couple of months ago I joined the Motivational Monday weight loss thread.

I want to make the most of my enthusiasm in the hope that exercise will become a habit by the time I can't be bothered again. Does that make sense?

amillionyears · 18/09/2012 12:45

TOWTH.thats what I am after too.
I have done some exercise briefly in the past, not much more than for 2 weeks. Then I seem to hit some sort of ache/pain barrier and wonder whether it is all worth it.Then I hobble on for a couple of days more then stop.
Previously I have got away with it,but I am now at the stage of feeling older and seriously unfit, and sort of know I cant get away with it any longer.
The trouble with me is that I have never really got to the "I feel better for being fitter" stage.I dont know if it is because I have never carried on for long enough.

See I remember how i was three years ago. I weighed three stone less than I do now and I had been shredding every day for a month and going to the gym. I was by no means slim but I was fit and hillwalking, playing with the kids was easy and mostly I felt very bouncy all the time. Now I feel heavy and slow and I hate it.

I also remember the muscles in my arms thanks to the shred. My aim is to feel light and bouncy again.

TheOneWithTheHair · 19/09/2012 07:59

amillion I know what you mean. I'm hoping to see some benefit this time to spur me on. No gym today but I do have to clean my whole house so that is kind of exercise.

I would like to feel light and bouncy too whyme2. :)

I did Pilates yesterday and I've never done it before. My god, everything aches!! I ache in places I didn't know I could. Thank god for the walk to school. Hopefully it will loosen me up a bit.

amillionyears · 19/09/2012 08:05

I might now be coming out the other side from the aches.Sit ups no longer hurt. Hurrah! [mind you I'm not doing many yet].
Now, I've had whyme's words of "light and bouncy" going round my flippin head since yesterday!

Grin That's fab. You see you already have something to show for your effort!

whyme2 · 19/09/2012 12:03

Sorry about the light and bouncy - it just describes perfectly how I felt and what I am aiming for again.

I did Grin at the achey acheyness.

amillionyears · 19/09/2012 12:21

No,I like the "light and bouncy".
I think it was the last thing I read before going to bed.I'm always doomed if I have read something memorable right before bedtime.

Feel free anyone to give me an online kick.
Can feel my motivation slipping today.

How are you doing dontpet with your running.
I presume you are still doing the run on 8 oct.

OP posts:
TheOneWithTheHair · 20/09/2012 19:20

. Get moving!!

I had yesterday off but I was far from still. I removed a radiator and skirting from two walls, then removed the wall paper. It was bloody hard work.

Today, apart from the school run, I have done nothing. I just really couldn't be bothered.

See, my motivation is waning too. :(

amillionyears · 20/09/2012 19:31

Thanks TheOne. I shall use your kick for tomorrow.
I did some exercising a couple of hours after I wrote the post.

I dont think your motivation is waning, you are understandably shattered.
Tomorrow is another day,and if you havent posted in by 6pm tomorrow evening,I shall online kick you too! Wink

Deal. Grin

TheOneWithTheHair · 21/09/2012 18:14

Oops. I'm a bit late. Grin

Today was better. I didn't go to the gym but I did lots of walking and also I have my own way to exercise at home.

Give this a go if you feel like it. Very simple for any piece of junk mail that comes through your door you have to run up and down the stairs twice. So if you get one bit it's an easy day. Today I got seven. Running up and down stairs fourteen times is harder than you'd think. Shock

If you don't have stairs it's five squats per piece of junk mail.

amillionyears · 21/09/2012 18:22

Squats it will have to be. No stairs, but do have outside steps.
Cant yet do five squats without potential damage to my knees.
And we have a business,so more potential for junk. But we signed up to some dejunking service I believe,so dont often get 7 pieces.
Good idea though. Will now hate junk with more passion.

I gave you an extra 15 minutes in case you got stuck in traffic.
You made it with 32 seconds to spare.Impressive!

Realised i am intriged by "own way to exercise at home"!
Mind you I thought you said "I have my own way to exercise on the way home"!!

OP posts:
TheOneWithTheHair · 21/09/2012 18:57

It's really simple. I figure that the people who make up gym exercise know what they're doing however sometimes I have no desire to go to the gym or do formal exercise and I think that moving more in my own way is better than not moving at all.

I don't Hoover, I dance. I don't bend to do the dishwasher, I squat. I raise and lower really slowly while I wash up. And I always have loudish music on as it helps me to fake feeling energetic.

I know it sounds stupid but it works for me and I kind of make it up as I go along. Blush

amillionyears · 21/09/2012 19:19

I dont think it sounds stupid,I think it sounds inspiring. Smile

TheOneWithTheHair · 21/09/2012 20:21

Thank you. Blush

whyme2 · 21/09/2012 20:22

Sounds good TOWTH, I do a kind of jumpy jig when I'm waiting for the kettle to boil, or lift a couple of cans. Better than nothing. I know my dh reads this and he will now be spying on me when I am in the kitchen to catch me in the act Grin I am a secret ballerina too

amillionyears · 21/09/2012 20:25

Waves to whyme2's DH
