Will post the race list later on computer.

Thanks everyone for all your good wishes re MRI scan I'm on my phone so can go back and name check sorry but yes it's a regular check following a op I had 10 years ago just to keep an eye on things I get results in a few weeks.

It was my worst experience in the scanner first time I've had music it was local radio and it was too loud through the ear phone and it made me feel really claustraphobic and I got really panicky even had to press the button for them to turn it off. Then they had problems injecting the dye as usual. Once the music was off I was fine again but will never have music again.

Manage running school tonight and had a great run one of my best in ages mmmm wonder what in MRI dye and if I can have more

AngeChica · 11/01/2012 22:50

Ooh! where are you runnerstipple? my parents live in Southwold :) well Reydon but close enough without the millionaire price tag. Fab for visits, great for kids. Superb for running. Practically though, its been disastrous - miles to supermarkets, hospitals etc. Also psychologically it's a nightmare drive, I get to Ipswich, feel I am almost home, then have to turn up the A12 which is a completely ridicuous road.

stickyLFDTfingers · 11/01/2012 22:58

I'd been under the impression that the culling of deer was necessary because they don't have natural predators any more - so I was allowed to enjoy venison all the more for it being practically virtuous! I won a MN prize for my venison stew recipe

ibby I was on the phone to the TDA just yesterday, because I'd started wondering about Other Jobs before Christmas. I don't think it's a route I'll take though - the rigmarole and expense of getting qualified. Plus the fact that there are way too many teachers in our family already, all telling me that it's a Bad Idea! It is very tricky, feel like standing on the street with my Gissa Job sign...

N4NNY LOL at your MRI dye powered runs! Being stuck in a confined place with too loud music sounds horrendous.

Wind's really getting up here. I was enjoying the unseasonably warm weather - the run this morning was lovely in the warm sun (even if I did turn into Mrs Beetroot Head). Ah well, only due to do a little run tomorrow.

rhetorician · 11/01/2012 23:12

yes sticky the herd gets too large for the amount of grazing available

LittleChiefRunnyCustard · 12/01/2012 07:51

Thanks for the Galloway recommendations. The beaches are the main draw for us as DS (3) is currently obsessed. The lighthouse looks great but probably not ideal for littlies. Norfolf sounds lovely too but unfortunately would take forever to get there from Angus.

I had a lighthouse holiday with my parents when I was about 8 - it was on a very small dry island called Scalpey in the Outer Hebrides. My DM was training for a half-marathon so would run round the island and the locals stood out on their steps and watched her and/or let their sheepdogs chase her!

LittleChiefRunnyCustard · 12/01/2012 07:52

Norfolf???

bonkersLFDT20 · 12/01/2012 09:00

My name is bonkers and I am addicted to my Garmin.

I was on my way to work, realised I'd forgotten it so turned around, drove home and collected it.

fannybanjo · 12/01/2012 10:19

Bonkers can I join Garmin Anonymous too.. I've had DH drive 6 miles with mine to meet me when I left it. Yesterday when mine went off half way through the run, I actually nearly wept when I thought of my data and graph being all fucked up when I plugged it in to Connect. I need a fucking life.

Running is taking over my life. Blush Grin I find myself dreaming about doing amazing times in races. I'm living in Nike leggings. My arse is chapped from thong rubbing. My toenails are fucked. My pits stink. I need to get a grip...

fannybanjo · 12/01/2012 10:20

rhet when you ordering SUPER BUGGY?

fannybanjo · 12/01/2012 10:33

Happy Birthday fishie and Grin at MRI dye being a drug to make us run faster... Hope all well N4NNY

Trying to get back into thread - Facebook initial euphoria worn off.

futurity · 12/01/2012 10:57

My Garmin once went off in a run telling me it was full up and wasn't recording anymore and that I had to delete stuff before it would carry on. I was not expecting that and it really threw me! Got home and sorted it out but am now paranoid that it will happen in the middle of a proper event and I would be stuffed as there is nothing you can do about it in the middle of the run...it just stops! (Imagines all you Garmin lovers now freaking out!)

Knackered today due to DS1 up in the night...he is off school today but I will sneak in a nap later otherwise I won't be awake for running club. Luckily he is older now so it is "easier" when he is off school (which is actually very rare). He woke up at 10.15 and is now wallowing in the bath :)

orangeLFDThead · 12/01/2012 10:57

You paint such a lovely picture of yourself fanny

LittleChiefRunnyCustard · 12/01/2012 12:12

I have underarm chafage - it's nippy! Running really makes us attractive doesn't it?

rhetorician · 12/01/2012 13:07

fanny you are also living vicariously - will order running buggy as soon as I can persuade DP to move the money from savings account...but I am having problems deciding on accessories - I guess I should get something to keep her warm? sun cover (some hope, in this bloody country!) and a buggy board for dd1. I think it will come from the UK as it saves me at least ?50 even with p+p. I'd say I'll have it by the end of the month - am a bit reluctant to take such a tiny baby out and would prefer it if her head control was a bit better. Although it says it's fine from birth (she can lay flat in it). Tbh I am rather enjoying playing with the various possibilities

rhetorician · 12/01/2012 13:35

scroll down here and you can see the various accessory options...I am paralysed by indecision

bonkersLFDT20 · 12/01/2012 13:53

Fanny get some knickers. Thongs are SOOOO last millennium!

So, tell me....how many runs can I keep on my Garmin before it blows up mid-run?

rhetorician · 12/01/2012 13:54

bonkers it's really quite a lot - maybe 1000+ although I suppose it depends on how much data you have (presumably the longer the runs, the bigger the space it takes up in the memory??)

rhetorician · 12/01/2012 13:56

spec says it will store 1000 laps - not sure whether this means 100 x 10k runs with splits, or separate runs (I suspect the latter)

bonkersLFDT20 · 12/01/2012 14:00

OMG Rhet! I am quite surprised one of the accessories isn't an actual baby!

You have to get the lambskin liner whatnot (and shoulder harness covers) and the head hugger and the rain hood and the foot muff. Sod the UV thingy, you don't get UV in Ireland I think!

A buggy board?! Will this be your regular pushchair or are you going to run with both DDs?!! Are you actually She-ra?!

rhetorician · 12/01/2012 14:06

bonkers I think if they cut my pay any more we might have to live in it as well! The buggy board is to walk up to nursery and back - it's about a mile. It will be our regular buggy, except when in town on holiday etc when we have a cheapo maclaren type folding one - we mostly use it to walk from home, and we could do with using the car less for short trips to town etc.

I think these folks put in the rain cover as standard

stickyLFDTfingers · 12/01/2012 14:26

we ended up getting our buggy in Belfast rhet - not sure why Northern Irish babies should get more choice than their counterparts in the Republic, but seemed to be that way.

Managed 4 miles today. After a distinctly stormy start it's now all warm and sunny (running in short sleeve top Shock), so going up the bank in the woods was a hot and sweaty (not to mention puffy!) experience. My calves feel tired now.

orangeLFDThead · 12/01/2012 14:26

rhet you can buy inserts to put in buggies to give a bit more support for new born's, a bit like a cosytoe but with head support

rhetorician · 12/01/2012 14:45

there's a certain level of complexity with this stuff at which point my brain just kind of shuts down...it's a bit like mobile phone contracts Grin

about to go to gym to run some intervals

RunnersTipple · 12/01/2012 15:01

Ange I'm not far from Bury St Edmunds, but I know what you mean about getting to Southwold, there's no direct route so its either wiggling cross country or the long way via A14 and A12. Although maybe that's why its still so special, because you have to journey there.

I did 5.27 miles this morning with two friends so I couldn't drag my sorry arse dash up and down the road to get to a round number. It was a bit slower in m/min than Saturday's five miler, but had more hills, well inclines, and I really felt the one at four miles, before recovering and speeding up slightly for the last mile or so. We got windblown and rained on so I definitely won the prize for most glamorous mum at the school gate when collecting DS3 from nursery. But hey, I felt good even if I smelt quite rank.

RunnersTipple · 12/01/2012 15:04

I know what you mean rhet, when faced by some much stuff and so many options I seem to get paralysed by indecision. When I had DS1 I just wanted someone to say 'get this one' and to be done with it. Happy running.
