Will post the race list later on computer.
Come one, come all. We are a band of maverick posters who run, talk about running, and talk about other stuff, mostly life, large pants, and questionable children's artwork. Come and join us if you dare! Disclaimer: we are actually the friendliest thread on MN. Fact.

ibby I do that too, always run an extra bit to round it up to half a mile or a whole mile so it sounds better when I tell you lot Grin

runnerstipple your training plan sounds like mine. I'm also probably going to have to keep most of my runs to 4 ish miles with just 1 LSR, pushing it just isn't worth the risk with injurys that won't completely clear.

Well done littlechief. I'll spend it for you if you have a problem Grin

Boo sticky and good luck MrSfx

Wheelybug · 11/01/2012 18:56

Oh and yes another one who will run up and down the road to get the round number . But I think my neighbours think I'm a bit mad with all tis running anyway.

futurity · 11/01/2012 19:08

I do that as well...in fact did it yesterday to get to 8 miles Smile

Went for a small run today with DH who is trying to learn to run. He normally goes with DS but asked me to go with him. He did very well and did 1.72 miles..furthest we've ever run together.

Swimming lesson tonight ...must wake up before then...feeling sleepy!

RunnersTipple · 11/01/2012 19:19

I do that too, had to do a loop round the village to get to five miles on Saturday. What a sight for sore eyes that must have been, beetroot red, windblown hair and panting heavily.

sfxmum · 11/01/2012 19:19

wheely I have very good memories of Southwold, we dropped by 3yrs in a row after going to Latitude festival

thanks for good wishes, seems too good atm

peachsmuggler · 11/01/2012 19:33

Aw sorry bout the job sticky, their loss.

Good luck to your DH, sfx

am ridiculously excited about return to powerpramming tomorrow!!

rhetorician · 11/01/2012 19:59

peach excuse my ignorance, but what is powerpramming?

sticky sorry about job, but it may be the case that what they say is true , but I can see that it would make you feel despondent - hopefully the right post is around the corner

good luck to mr sfx too

funny sort of day here - ran this morning, but didn't manage full 5 miles because diverted due to deer cull - pace was ok though, and enjoyed it (nearly didn't go because dd2 has been mucking around for over an hour in the middle of the night - although we have had 2 evenings where she has been asleep upstairs in her basket while we have been sitting on the sofa looking at one another in disbelief). Was in work for a while then at home, trying to pull together various things for teaching which starts next week.

Really looking forward to running buggy because I really think that this will make it possible for me to keep up decent mileage - met a woman today who runs 5x a week with a buggy -

Wheelybug · 11/01/2012 20:15

Yes sfx southwold looks quite appealing.... Good luck to your dh tomorrow .

Hope power pramming goes well peach

Sounds like dd2 settling well rhet - has dd1 settled into

Wheelybug · 11/01/2012 20:15

Oops

Into it all now ?

ibbydibby · 11/01/2012 20:16

Rhet you have just reminded me that I saw a dead deer this morning while out on my run Sad. Presume it was a Muntjac but looked huge. Is the cull an annual thing? Or as and when...?

Good luck to your DH sfx

Wheely there are loads of coastal places in Norfolk and Suffolk. Some loud and brash, others quiet and genteel....just make sure you take loads of warm clothes wherever you go as wind is guaranteed.

Sticky I also keep wondering what else I can do...keep thinking of all these people you read about who have a Good Idea one minute, and it snowballs into something really big. I like crafty stuff, but think a lot of people are going into this at the moment. DH keeps suggesting training to be a teacher, but I don't think I have the stamina.

Glad to read that so many others run to get a complete mile!

fishie · 11/01/2012 20:23

wheely I went to Southwold two birthdays in a row (its tomorrow, pre ds there was nothing to do about it but go away now I can't afford so a couple of days off with lots of running will have tosuffice).. Also North Norfolk is amazing, we stayed there last August, massive lovely house if there are lots of you.

rhetorician · 11/01/2012 20:27

they do it from time to time - this was unusual though because it was about 9.30, and they usually do it early in the morning to avoid protesters. The herd is about 700 strong (park is about 1750 acres) and managed by the vet school in my university (the only vet school in Ireland) - the guys there often have cuts of venison to trade! I am not a big meat eater but I am partial to a nice venison stew...

Wheelybug · 11/01/2012 20:40

Happy birthday for tomorrow fishie. (my autocorrect changes your name to 'doable' Grin). I love the sound of north Norfolk but it's one of those places that doesn't seem far away from London but takes ages (I am SW London so the wrong side) but I need to to do some directions to see how far. I am a bit of a saddo national truster (thanks to my MA in such things) and always wanted to go that way to some of the big houses there. But I also like piers (Hmm) so southwold would be good Grin. Ok I think I've admitted too many
Anoraky things in that paragraph.....

sfxmum · 11/01/2012 20:45

wheely the roads all the way there always seem like an endless meandering hell of roundabouts Grin

about Venison when they do culls at Richmond Park they also sell the meat but it cannot carry the Organic label on account of the dogs that are always around there peeing and their urine has assorted meds

Happy Birthday for tomorrow Fishie
before children is another country, many a time we would just take off at a moments notice

ShredMeJillianIWantToBeNatalie · 11/01/2012 20:49

wheely Southwold is really pretty, a proper old fashioned seaside town . DH and I had our wedding party and stayed our wedding night in Lavenham, have you been there? Lots of very old buildings to poke around.

orangeLFDThead · 11/01/2012 20:49

I am really wacked tonight and ready for bed. Both dh and I off work tomorrow as wedding anniversary, having lazy morning then going out for lunch.

fishie · 11/01/2012 20:49

dead things on a run is somehow so shocking. It's such an alive thing to do. There's a fox corpse right at the end of mine and it always startles me, even though I know it is there and it will be for a while yet. Saw a dead seal in Norfolk :(

rhetorician · 11/01/2012 20:52

oh and I also round up runs, if I see 7.3 then I'll go to 8 if I have time - people have been nonplussed to see me running up and down the cul-de-sac repeatedly staring at my arm!

fishie · 11/01/2012 20:55

sorry my mum rang And I'd written that before so just posted it. thanks for bday wishes. Should I ask for a garmin or carry on with mapmyrun on iphone? and spend dosh on fripperies.

I'm e London wheely so is well speedy, although can just folllow the A11 forever from central London. My fil is in dorset it takes forevah to get just to fleet. Dog is not welcome so not a journey we're making often silly sod is missing seeing his only gc.

RunnersTipple · 11/01/2012 20:56

Southwold pier is fab wheely, we have whiled away many a happy hour there. I first went to Southwold pre children, when I was living in SW London too, and now we live about an hour away. One of my favourite birthday/mother's day treats is an outing to Southwold or Aldeborough. I've also stayed on the north east norfolk coast which was beautiful, I ran on the beach each morning with the dog before the rest of the household got up and sometimes saw seals.

Someone up thread mentioned Dumfries or Galloway as a possible destination which reminded me that we went on holiday here www.nts.org.uk/Holidays/Find-Accommodation/Dumfries-and-Galloway/Show-all/ and stayed at the Lighthouse keeper's cottage which was brilliant (on page two of the link), although not sure I'd go with small children.

RunnersTipple · 11/01/2012 20:57

Sorry, forgot happy birthday for tomorrow fishie and happy anniversary orange

peachsmuggler · 11/01/2012 21:07

Happy Birthday for tomorrow fishie, go on love, get a garmin. Imagine the stats, the spreadsheets....

have a great day tomorrow orange

Rhet, powerpramming is a post-natal exercise class I do in the park. Mixture of walking/running with pram, resistance exercises, pelvic floor exercises etc. Really good fun and very social. I've been doing it every week for 3 and a half years, apart from the last 5 months so dying to get back. Got running buddies there too.

Good work on evening sleeping for DD2, does she have a particular time that she goes down for the nightime now?

Wheelybug · 11/01/2012 21:19

Ooh you may have sold me on
Southwold. I love beach huts (lighthouses as well so that one in Scotland sounds great). Oh I need to move back to the coast. Only been to Suffolk once and That was a night in Aldeburgh. Which was lovely (pre kids although I was just
Preggers with dd1 and couldn't tell the friends we were with so dh got v drunk drinking for 2).

Fishie - sweatshop were doing the garmin 110 for £75 for 1 week only
But can't remember when. It might be this week. I will try and find out .....

Wheelybug · 11/01/2012 21:20

Such a bargain must not be ignored

Good things to do in Dumfries and Galloway - Mabie farm Park, Cream O' Galloway (ice cream makers but also had an adventure playground, go karts, family walks, bike trails etc). There was a chocolate factory too, but can't remember exactly where and lovely beaches.
