LET'S FUCKING DO IT....!

OP posts:
stickyLFDTfingers · 19/11/2011 15:29

ah good, I thought it was because of where you lived backwardpossom. Some time I'd like to chat with you about what you're studying, if that's OK (tho won't derail the running thread still further!!)

bonkers you should get a shred,it's fab! On clothes - if I can bear it I'm still short sleeved, because if I get too hot I start running too slowly! I wear a sleeveless jacket over the top (hides boobs and has pockets, very useful!) and switch between calf length and full length bottoms.

stickyLFDTfingers · 19/11/2011 15:30

Obviously I don't switch mid run. I'm not Mr Ben or anything.

Wheelybug · 19/11/2011 15:32

Yes fanny - the only 4 letter word I don't want to hear from you is the 'I' word.

peach looking forward to the race birth report ! Rhet - LOL at the quest for a PB for delivery !! Am in awe of fast deliveries. My body did not know what to do at all... so it didn't. Its truly amazing to hear how its meant to done.

bonkers - I'm in knee length capris and short sleeved tshirts still but I tend to get quite hot so on colder days am most likely to wear a short sleeve with long sleeve over the top so I can take the longer one off.

Well done sticky and Futurity

Right, I have listened to you hardened hill running types and tried to find a hill. I did 2 in a 6 mile run - 1 I do a lot as its on one of my routes up to Richmond Park and the other is a hill in RP that I have never attempted. I suspect its nothing for most of you, and actually wasn't as bad as I'd had in my head as was steep (for me) but not long. Although I did retch a coupleof times but I don't think being fueled by last night's red wine and a huge costa black coffee helped much. Anyway, tell me what you think of the hills connect.garmin.com/activity/129581296. I can take it and more importantly, assuming they're crap as hills go, what's the best way to use them as there isn't much more than that round here (there's a longer not so steep one I can try and another steepish shortish one).

backwardLFDTpossom · 19/11/2011 15:51

No problem, sticky :)

orangeLFDThead · 19/11/2011 16:06

Well I checked on the other thread and though oh goodie I don't have much to catch up on, how wrog was I.
Oh congrats peach and welcome to the world baby Kate. So glad all ok not at all jeaslous of your quick labour and quick return home, I was in for a week with both of mine. How you doing?
DrNo what a lovely article no wonder you proud.
debi sorry the skins are giving you jip. I have suffered with them in the past, not nice.
fanny don't worry you don't offend me and Im another that does no really swear in real life but you make me chuckle.
Bonkers you sound like me, Im constantly losing phone, keys, locking myself in and out of places. I have addidas supernova, don't like them as much as my saucony which were my first ones [I'm still a newbie only on my 2nd pair of trainers]. Ever since I got them seem prone to more general achy pains but no actual injuiry. But they may just not suit me and you may find them fine.
Well done on the pb sticky
I agree this thread is great and only really come on mn now to go on here I hardly check what else oing on these days. Love the title btw fanny

liath · 19/11/2011 17:00

Congrats to Peach, great news and hope you're enjoying the baby moon phase.

Any swearing fine by me, I swear way too much in RL.

Felt crap this morning, sore throat and virally so was painfully slow. Took the dog to Arthur's Seat and did about 5 miles so at least it was hilly plodding!

is shredding good for upper body strength? Am slightly panicking now about cargo net climbing involved in the Deerstalker.... I'm sure we have some weights in the garage.

Moshi are you taking the dog to SF?

MoshiMoshi · 19/11/2011 17:32

Yes dog is coming too liath! She'll develop an American woof or something. Grin

I wouldn't worry about cargo net climbing. I did no body conditioning work for my Men's Health 10K and still found all the obstacles a doddle. With the exception of the 10 foot wall.

monkeyLFDTwench · 19/11/2011 18:02

Yes yes yes to the Shred! It's really intense and although I only use 2 kg weights there's nothing to stop you using heavier weights to make it harder. I find it's getting easier, but those blinking anterior raises with lunges at the end of level one still burn my shoulders. Am determined to blitz those Dinner Lady Arms of mine.

fanny you need to stop fucking swearing. I never fucking swear and am mortally fucking offended. So there madam Wink.

wheely I'm in the same situation re hills - lots of long slow ones. I should think retching is a good sign! I did 10 miles just now and really sought out a hilly route but I suspect to most of you they would be mere pimples. cherry do you know any good short steep ones? My route was round the Ridgeway and up Bluehouse Hill, they're bad enough for me. 10 miles = 1 hour 48, that's not bad for me being a fat old fart.

Also very jealous of the lovely birth, I only got to do it once "properly" and it was the best birth of the three. I felt like bloody Superwoman till I saw everyone's horrified faces at the other end and realised extensive needlework would be required.

backwardLFDTpossom · 19/11/2011 18:20

Haha monkey I remember that feeling all too well - looking at the midwife's face when the realisation that I would need an hour or so in theatre to be put back together kicked in... sigh Ach, he's worth it, most of the time Wink

Bumply · 19/11/2011 18:30

Welcome to Kate.
Fanny can be as uncouth as she wishes.
I've not run for a week, giving my groin strain a rest and hoping its not hip related.
I've just bought the shred DVD but not done it yet. Similar to what my PT gets me to do, but longer stretches of fewer things so could be interesting. Haven't done it yet.
I'm still aches from Fridays gym session where I did side planks and Russian twists for the first time so the whole of my midriff is feeling it.
Am I the heaviest I weigh 15 st at the moment?
I've lost over 3.5 st since January though.
It's strange when I'm hefting 20kg weight on a bar that I used to be lugging that around with me all the time.
Good luck to the Sunday racers and I hope I'm back pounding the streets soon.

orangeLFDThead · 19/11/2011 19:01

Hope you feeling better soon liath
monkey I remembered the horrified look on everyones face when they rushed me for cs. That was the worst moment seeing everyone elses faces I knew it was bad. I somehow managed to be unconscious for both ds's births. But they are worth it, just next time planned cs to try and make sure I will be conscious.

Themasterandmargaritas · 19/11/2011 19:31

Just popping in to say a huge Congrats to peachy and family. Karibu baby Kate. I was thinking of you yesterday and was coming to find the thread when I saw your FB pics. Gorgeous.

No run for me today. Life is all too complicated just now. I'll catch up properly tomorrow when I get internet back up and running again.

Rhet your turn next. GrinGrin

monkeyLFDTwench · 19/11/2011 21:10

I don't do much else now on mumsnet, have been here years but I namechange regularly - I only really look at telly, dogs and chat. Rest of it all seems very harsh nowadays compared to when I first joined Sad.

Am just watching the new series of The Killing, pretty much the best telly there is. DH is in heaven, he loves listening to a bit of Danish!

fannybanjo · 19/11/2011 21:25

Quickie from me as on my phone.

Sorry m&m that you couldn't do your race.

peach I'm dying to see photos! Damn not being on FB, feel like I'm missing out.

monkey I aim to start The Killing (Danish version) soon. Got The Sopranos to watch first but can I say, The Wire takes some beating as the best series ever. Anyone else watched it?

Not even nervous about Cockwatch, what'll be will be. The person that I am will be disappointed if I don't get a PB but it's a very hilly HM so I know it's a tough call.

Hope everyone having a good Saturday night.

fannybanjo · 19/11/2011 21:28

monkey I'm slowly but surely giving up on MN threads other than this one.

squix · 19/11/2011 21:41

Good luck to tomorrows racers

MrsWednesday · 19/11/2011 21:45

Congratulations Peach, so pleased everything went quickly and so well, hope you are all enjoying new born baby cuddles and that your DD is pleased with her new sister.

I have trying to catch up with the threads before I start posting again but they are moving too quickly, I'm only up to October 20th!

DrNo good luck in the Abbey Dash tomorrow - if you keep running along past the abbey you'll be at my house in another couple of miles as I do live literally down the road. Was very nearly tempted to run it as quite a few of my friends are doing it but I am refereeing an Under 7s football match tomorrow Hmm instead.

Hope everyone is doing well, sorry I have been MIA but I am following you all on FB and have been inspired by all your running. I'm up to about 8 miles again now with various aches and pains gathered along the way but I'm enjoying it again.

Happy running (and happy baby Peach!)

rhetorician · 19/11/2011 21:48

yes, big fan of The Wire; and have watched the Sopranos gazillions of a few times...

DP and I are busily telling the baby that she can arrive any time after Wednesday...DD1 is doing a great line in arguing that various toys are a necessary addition to the household because her baby sister will like them :o

She has also started on the dog whinge, also speaking for her baby sister on this one too Hmm. No dog until youngest is at least 6...

rhetorician · 19/11/2011 21:51

oh and I didn't get out today - DP needed some time to lie down and do nothing, so I took DD to swings and library for the afternoon - probably did about 3 miles on bike with her on the back.

I have dug out my old weights - I think they are about 3lbs each. I am going to do the Shred so I am, so I am.

good luck for tomorrow fanny - Conwy is full of tea shoppes so you can have a nice feed of scones with the old dears in cardigans genteel visitors after :o

rhetorician · 19/11/2011 21:53

and good luck to Dr No as well; fully expecting to hear of two new PBs tomorrow!

orangeLFDThead · 19/11/2011 21:53

I want to see photos too [stamps feet].
Feeling a bit upset tonight with ds2 pooing accidents. I normally cope well with it. But he has had loads today and it is getting to me. The poo clinic wants to put him on laxatives even though austism speacialist he is under has said it could be due to sensory issues. Just been doing some googling which generally said bowel incontience and austism go hand in hand. The prospect of cleaning up poo for years to come is depressing. Sorry for the moan feeling a bit emotional.

monkeyLFDTwench · 19/11/2011 21:54

Oh my, I missed we have ravers racers tomorrow! I expect full reports including a Full Cock Count! Good luck all, you bloody go for it.

Am doing a Greyhound Walk tomorrow morning, it's really good fun. Then boys at swimming lessons and maybe a short run n shred after.

Love the Sopranos, classic telly. We missed a lot of The Wire but am thinking of the boxed set for me DH for Christmas. We do like a nice boxed set.

orangeLFDThead · 19/11/2011 21:55

Good luck for the racers tomorrow

ibbydibby · 19/11/2011 22:02

Peach big congratulations and welcome baby Kate. What a speedy labour.

Good luck DrNo and Ange for tomorrow. Ange are you in Suffolk? Did not realise there was a 10k in Southwold until I read the list here the other day. Weather has been gorgeous here today so hopefully lovely for you (and DrNo) tomorrow.

Fanny no probs with language - makes me laugh. I tend not to swear in my posts - the only time I do swear is when I am driving, and someone does something that is, IMO, wrong. Happens a lot so the air is blue. Try to not to do it in front of DCs.

My targets (in case anyone still interested)

5k: sub 23 (it has taken me months to acheive sub 24)
10k: sub 49 (current PB 50.56)
HM: 3 targets for next week
a) to finish the course
b) if I manage a) then would like to do it within 2 hrs
c) if I manage b) then preferably under 1hr 55 cos that's the time of previous (and only) HM in 2007.

Only ran on Mon and Thurs at club nights, last week. Hoping to do 6 miles or so tomorrow and poss something during the week. Can't go to running club either evening this week due to clashes with meetings. Prob a good thing as HM next Sun, eek. DH has entered also, though if no-one to have DCs he will pull out.

Our Saturday night so far: I have made a gingerbread house(!)from scratch - first attempt but nightmare. Why did I think I could do it? Then DS1 showed how he could play music and show lyrics from spotify, leading to a long karaoke session for DH and I.....including California Dreamin' (my fave), Hotel California and I want to break free.

bonkersLFDT20 · 19/11/2011 22:03

Orange sorry about your DS2. Yes, autism and digestive troubles and continence issues go hand in hand unfortunately. You should get lots of support in ways to manage it though. No need to apologise for moaning. Better to have a rant here so you keep your strength up.

Good luck Fanny and Dr and the other two people who I don't recognise!
