I got abit fitter a while back (had a trainer), he moved away and I kept it up and jumped in at about week 4 or 5, but that was months ago now Blush I really need to get fit for a job and lose at least 1 stone (ideally about 4!) Anyone want to start with me? Or are all the newbies jumping straight onto the massive thread? :)

Hi, I have just finished week 2, so very early days. I have never run before and always hated the idea...A few weeks ago though I started to feel a very strange urge to run. to do something! My DS is 22 months now, when I was on mat leave we would walk for miles everyday so I felt I was getting enough exercise. Since I went back to work in August I have been spending all my time between working and being a mum and I now really fancy doing something for myself.

I am not overweight, but I am not very fit either. Let's put it this way - doing 6 runs of 90 seconds each is not a walk in the park for me :)

so when are you thinking of starting LemonadeDrinker?

SirCharlieStinkySocks · 10/06/2011 12:54

I'm happy to jump in here if I may? I'm on week 4, should have been week 5 but illness meant I decided to repeat a week just to give myself some time after I took a week off. I'm about a stone overweight and do my running evry other day at 6am as it's the only time I can fit it in.

ASecretLemonadeDrinker · 10/06/2011 21:42

"tomorrow".... WinkBlush Was going to go tonight, but's it's suddenly nearly 10pm!

I just finished week 2 tonight. I have lost over 4 stone but still have a couple to go. I have never run before so was surprised that I managed it the first two weeks. I am really enjoying it, but alsomvery worried about running 3 minutes next week.

duende · 10/06/2011 22:03

Hello all :)
Lemonade, I find that if I don't go out first thing in the morning, I then spend all day coming up with reasons not to go. Plus, I'm often simply too tired in the evening. So, like CharlieStinkySocks, I get up at the crack of dawn and I'm out at 6.30. I can't imagine doing the same in winter...

MarionCole · 10/06/2011 22:08

I need to do it. I keep starting and never keeping up with it. The best I've done is get to week 6. I feel a bit out of my depth on the big thread.

LadyMacnet · 10/06/2011 22:17

Count me in. About a month ago I completed the first two weeks but then had some really crap crap crap news totally out of the blue - the sort of stuff that you never think is ever going to happen and just couldn't get myself out at all (nothing to do with health - I'm fine to run :)) However I'm more on top of things and I think I'm ready to give it another go. I should probably do week 2 again but I don't think starting on week 3 would be too bad.

Duende - my DS2 is 26 months, my work is fairly sedentary and I really need to start exercising again. I really need some me time as well.

So are we planning a run tomorrow?

MarionCole · 10/06/2011 22:21

I might go out tomorrow morning then. Will start with week 1 I think.

LadyMacnet · 10/06/2011 22:35

OK MarionCole. I'll be sensible and start on week 2. I'll be able to do a run in the mid-morning so will report back.

LadyMacnet · 10/06/2011 22:43

I'm not overweight but I'm not very healthy in my lifestyle and routines. I am always shattered once I've got in from work in the evening and done the kids' bedtimes etc. I'm 41, 5'6 size 10- 12 and weigh about 9 1/2 stone. I need to drink a bit less than I do, lose around half a stone, go to bed earlier and do some exercise.

MarionCole · 10/06/2011 22:50

I'm the same. I'm size 14, 6 ft tall, age 39. I've never been fit in my entire life. I was always last in cross country.

newportstateofmind · 10/06/2011 22:51

I've just finished week 3, and loving it so far. (Which is very out of character!! Grin)

Only discovered the podcasts last week though. Before that, like a muppet, I had to use the stopwatch on my phone and keep track of the times in my head.

The podcasts are fab!

MarionCole · 10/06/2011 22:51

I would like to lose 2 stone, but it will never happen unless I get some proper exercise

fearnelinen · 10/06/2011 22:54

I'm in! I'm also doing the 30 day shred, but I am not shifting any weight what-so-ever. I've quickly googled this plan and got some bits, but can anyone give me a decent overview / link?

MarionCole · 10/06/2011 22:56

Do you have an iPod Fearne? There are some good apps.

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 10/06/2011 22:57

I would really like to join.
how do I find the pod casts?

I am unfit and overweight, need to loose 2 stone would love to loose 3
but mostly and honestly I would like to be fitter.

I will get chance to go out tomorrow (do i need to do it every day?)

fearnelinen · 10/06/2011 22:57

I do. Any links?

giraffesCantZumba · 10/06/2011 22:58

Hi thinking about starting this, see how far I can get. Had masive asthma attack from running 5k (wekk running 3 of it walking rest) last weekend so going to start slowly and see how I go.

MarionCole · 10/06/2011 23:06

If you look on the App store, I use one called 'Couch to 5k' by Felt Tip Inc. The logo is brown with a White 5k written in it. Just found it here

Another non-iPod one is Rawbert Ullreys one

newportstateofmind · 10/06/2011 23:06

They're on the NHS LiveWell website, but I'll try to link. (Not very good at this!)

MarionCole · 10/06/2011 23:07

Greyskull you are meant to go out three times a week

newportstateofmind · 10/06/2011 23:07

www.nhs.uk/Tools/Pages/couch-5K-running-plan.aspx

Hope it works!

fearnelinen · 10/06/2011 23:10

Ooooh thank you. I shall download tomorrow and see if I can get out in the morning.
3 30 minute runs a week seems doable.

wildstrawberryplace · 10/06/2011 23:17

Ooh ooh me too, I'm starting tomorrow!

I have the Podrunner C25K on iTunes - I like that one because the music is chosen by tempo to match the walk/run sections. Have done it before, though never saw it through to the full 30 mins, but before that, pre DC, I used to be able to go for 45 mins + runs and I enjoyed them.

Have a new pair of Nike Free 2 Run+ which means I can run pain free despite my old running injury (Morton's neuroma).

Need to lose weight really, at least a couple of stone for health reasons, and a stone after that for vanity reasons Grin. Also doing the 30 day shred which is awesome, as Jillian Michaels might say.

newportstateofmind · 10/06/2011 23:21

I found that they really made a difference...I was stupidly excited about trying the Week 3 one out!! It definitely helped me concentrate better, and the music is all either positive and uplifting (for the walking bits), or strong beats (for the running bits).

Hope they're useful - enjoy your run!
