With the Windsor framework up & running, and the DUP having a "you could set your calendar by it" hissy fit, but Irish unification refusing to keep it's head down, what next in the long running sage of UK vs. the real world ?

Scotland has lost up to £100mn a year in salmon exports to the EU because of red tape and increased costs associated with #Brexit, according to data from trade body Salmon Scotland

So it is working then.

Why are they upset about the passports? They knew what they were voting for. Why do they want to go to EU countries anyway? Their hatred of the EU was going to be offset by all the wonderful new bonus deals from the rest of the world.

So, why don't they have a referendum for independence from the UK and apply to join the EU?

HannibalHeyes · 28/03/2024 16:04

Oh no, the Stupid is back...

GlobeTrotter2000 · 28/03/2024 16:16

The average cost of an EU city break is estimated to be GBP 1,000 per person. So, that's 2.4 billion that can be spent in the UK instead of the EU.

Interesting, can I see a breakdown of this figure?

And of course there's no way people can be made to holiday in the UK if they don't want to. Decaying neglected cities and sewage-soiled beaches aren't good for tourism.

Jason118 · 28/03/2024 16:27

If we don't travel to Europe, we'll never know what we could have won.

I didn’t think the passport date thing would still be causing problems as it seemed a week didn’t go by last summer without some local news outlet reporting on it.

How do you know these people were Brexiteers?

Peregrina · 28/03/2024 18:25

How do you know these people were Brexiteers?

Remainers would almost certainly know about the rules, because this is yet something else that the brexiters have messed up for them.

From next week a lot of British cars will face a 6% Canadian tariff.

Ralph Goodale(High Commissioner for Canada in the UK):

"This time frame has been known for 3 years... it was agreed to by both sides... so the fact that one side didn't do its homework is not Canada's fault"

Can't see that denting the Kemi love in that seems to have blossomed on FWR.

We already know from Brexit itself there are huge swathes of people who watch the news go by with the subtitles "nothing to do with me". And frankly if they are getting some valuable learning moments, it's for the best.

Have you seen the price of a week in an AirBnB in Newquay?

Or train ticket prices

Talkinpeace · 28/03/2024 19:50

Kemi is loved on FWR for one aspect of her work.

The rest of her policies are still vile.

HannibalHeyes · 29/03/2024 00:51

I have no idea what FWR is, but if Bad Enoch is worshipped there I suspect it's something to be avoided...

GlobeTrotter2000 · 29/03/2024 09:36

In 2016 £1 = CAD$ 1.83

Today £1 = CAD$ 1.71

So, the 6% tariffs is offset by the exchange rate and cost of UK cars in Canada is the same amount of CAD$ as before.

Contradictory. If remainers know the rules and act accordingly, they will not be affected.
