(previous thread)

That's "king" as a suffix not a prefix. Also part of a phrase.

But, but, but, . . . "Unelected Bureaucrats Bad!"

All continuing to go well in the City...

David Cameron is British.

Clavinova · 13/02/2024 20:23

TUI Group is a German leisure, travel and tourism company

pointythings · 13/02/2024 20:28

@Clavinova and so what? They're a major player in the holiday market and they've chosen to withdraw from the UK stock market. Your penchant for blaming everything on 'those people from the EU wanting to make the UK look bad' is beyond exhausting and a little bit sad.

DuncinToffee · 13/02/2024 20:29

Clavinova is Japanese.....

Clavinova · 13/02/2024 20:38

I can't see that TUI made it back in to the FTSE 100 since this;

Travel operator TUI is to lose its place in the FTSE 100 after its recent share price slump made it too small to qualify for the blue chip index.

David Cameron is British.

and ?

Surely unelected is unelected ? What has nationality got to do with it ?

I know that you and pointythings are both Dutch - it's hardly surprising that neither of you support Brexit.

And?

I know that you and pointythings are both Dutch - it's hardly surprising that neither of you support Brexit.

But you're Russian, so we know exactly why you support it!

Clavinova · 13/02/2024 20:57

But you're Russian

Russian, Japanese - make up your minds!

Talkinpeace · 13/02/2024 21:20

@Clavinova
So are British citizens in the EU bureaucracy good eggs as well ?
(there are still a fair few)

I thought the problem with the EU was unaccountable unelected decision makers
(which HoL members definitely are)

pointythings · 13/02/2024 21:32

There are plenty of EU nationals who think leaving the EU would be a good idea - Geert Wilders is one. There are also plenty of UK nationals who think leaving the EU was a really bad idea, and that number is growing.

Nationality really has very little to do with it, however much Clav likes to imply otherwise.

You would have to tell me their names - I know who David Cameron is.

Peregrina · 13/02/2024 21:49

Yes - I think David Cameron is an excellent choice.
But he's still unelected, whatever you personally think. I myself think it's an appalling reflection on the current state of Tory MPs that a failed PM has to be wheeled in to take the the Post. Still never mind, he has a nice sinecure for life now.

Hasn't Keir Starmer U-turned on his House of Lords pledge?
Doesn't matter, Keir Starmer and Labour are not in Government. I suspect that Lords reform won't be their priority if the do get elected, but it certainly needs it now on size grounds alone..

And BTW I am British, and have only ever lived in the UK.

Jason118 · 13/02/2024 22:07

I'm British, and so's my wife......

HannibalHeyes · 13/02/2024 22:25

Fartage is British, but it doesn't stop him from being paid by Russia...

Peregrina · 13/02/2024 22:34

It's just that Clavinova dismisses the opinions of anyone who is not British. Hence my statement.

HannibalHeyes · 13/02/2024 22:35

Yep, and she's obviously being backed by Russian, or possibly American, money...

Account for the majority remain vote in Scotland and Northern Ireland then...

mathanxiety · 14/02/2024 03:17

Clavinova · 13/02/2024 18:36

Perhaps we have - the Goldman Sachs expert in this instance is quite clearly German - hardly surprising that a German economist doesn't support Brexit.

Are you trying to suggest that the general principles of economics are not universal?

SerendipityJane · 14/02/2024 07:45

mathanxiety · 14/02/2024 03:17

Money certainly seems to work differently in the UK ...

@Peregrina So why did you bother raising the issue then?

@SerendipityJane Because it uses space that other news could have gone in.

I was reply to DuncinToffee at 10:27 on 13 Feb 2024. The 4% reduction in GDP was meant to happen by 2018Q3 whilst the UK was in the EU. The 4% is now forecast to be 2035.

So, what is the latest forecast date for the UK to become extinct?
