The velvet coat for the Bullington club members costs £7.5k.

%&^%&!
It rather puts the Duchess of Cornwall's £2K outfits in the shade, and she is meant to be a walking clothes peg.

ChiswickFlo · 24/03/2022 13:46

I've been checking the foodbank database.

We have fed double the amount of people since January compared to the same period last year....

I'm not sure their current visit had gone very well tbh...

I'm a republican so perhaps biased but the optics of that photo of her shaking hands through a chain link fence!?...

Who gets paid at KP for PR? Coz they are shit at it.

If the Russians want to whine about being bullied by Boris, then let them. It doesn't really square with their desire to be "men of terror".

Personally I think there's a lot more goading Russia we can - and should do. After all, they - like us - can choose how to react ... or are we buying into the "look what you made me do" as a valid defence ? (Because I never subscribed to that. Even when MiL claimed it as a defence for punching me.)

The UK is "World leading in Food Bank useage" Hmm

  • irony and anger alert in case it's not obvious Wink
HannibalHeyes · 24/03/2022 15:00

We could start by sanctioning Rishi Sunak's wife for her investments in Russia...

DuncinToffee · 24/03/2022 15:03

Week in Tory

I was going to do #TheWeekInTory, but try as I might, I can’t find a single thing they’ve done wrong this week.

Only kidding. It’s been an absolute casserole. 91 items long, you poor fuckers.

Drink heavily before, during and after.

Here we go:

But she is not an elected politician....
prettybird · 24/03/2022 15:14

....nor are the Russians who have been sanctioned at least not directly. Instead they have their claws into the elected politicians Hmm

@ChiswickFlo

If my maths are correct then the 54% increase in energy prices in April plus a reported 35% in October means an 89% increase in 6 months?

HOW. Just HOW are struggling families going to manage?

Retailers are predicting a 15% increase in food prices.

Fuel prices don't seem to be going down.

Interest rates going up which means higher mortgages and rents.

But never mind. £0.01p off income tax...in 2024.

I think you've hit the nail on the head there. To say that the government haven't done anything to tackle this and cushion the impact would be unfair and global energy prices aren't in the Chancellor's gift to control I do think what they've offered, so far, is way short of enough though and they've misjudged it badly..

The only potential mitigation I can offer is that perhaps Sunak is thinking that in October things will be even worse and he needs some scope to be able to intervene again then, when it will be getting colder and people will need more energy use for heating.

DrBlackbird · 24/03/2022 16:03

30 and 31 were my favourite:

30. JRM said Ukraine was finally an opportunity to "roll back wokery", and then to demonstrate his unerring commitment to free speech he said Britain should "refuse to use socialist vocabulary"

31. Oliver Dowden said people criticising those nice Russian oligarchs are "racist"

Just how thick are our elected officials when they don’t even see how thick they are? Or do they just not care that what they say literally makes no sense?

www.thenational.scot/news/20015944.obr-report-suggests-brexit-means-uk-missed-out-global-trade-recovery/

The OBR stated that UK good exports to the EU were down by 18 per cent on 2019 levels (Brexit happened on January 31, 2020).

It adds that there is “little sign to date” of UK goods exports to non-EU countries making up for lower exports to the EU.

The OBR report goes on: “Comparing our recent overall trade performance with other advanced economies suggests that the UK saw a similar collapse in exports as other countries at the start of the pandemic but has since missed out on much of the recovery in global trade.”

It's an absolute fuckfest

Now now, it's what The People voted for.

quiteathome · 24/03/2022 18:56

I drive a Kia Rio. I am not sure what this now says about me. Do you think I can get a Tory MP to fill it up at some point? I filled it up at Asda the other day, whilst I quietly sobbed at the petrol pump.

I am feeling very fortunate at the moment that our family has enough flex in our budget to absorb some of the increased costs. I don't know for how long for. And it is such a worry overall.

And of course, seven months nearer to an election. Time to start the bribery.

That week in tory twitter feed is quite the read isn't t it...

HappyWinter · 24/03/2022 20:14

I agree that Sunak didn't do enough, how are people meant to manage with price rises in energy, fuel, food and rent (and mortgage as interest rates are going up, if they aren't managing now? Next winter is going to be grim.

DuncinToffee · 24/03/2022 20:15

Not everything of Sunak's PR stunt was aired...

Paul Waugh
Includes this intel on the Sainsbury's petrol pump photo-op:

A motorcyclist walked up behind him, made a drinking gesture (an apparent reference to Partygate) and then rubbed his fingers together (money for you, but not for me).
The footage was not aired.
