It's a pity that no Tories have the integrity to leave also. But then, the most recent entrants would need to find a dictionary first, and look up the word Integrity.

HannibalHayeski · 16/10/2021 21:14

And then they still wouldn't comprehend the meaning of the word...

Lonelycrab · 16/10/2021 21:32

Puttnam calls a spade a spade.

Hope more people follow.

SecondRateFrog · 16/10/2021 23:55

Really sad that Putnam has left. All the good people leave, so the bad people face no resistance.

But note that on the other thread about expired passports, the Leavers are desperately screaming that the requirement to have six months left on a passport are Nothing To Do With Brexit.

An expired passport is an annoyance, but good people leaving the field clear in public life for the Brexit clones is a Bad thing. I would like to say that if all the non-brexiters decided to resign, the clones would have to own it, but having seen Frost effectively say that the agreement he negotiated and signed was nothing to do with him and was all the EU's fault, I know they won't own anything.

Now the Telegraph is talking of a Trade War with the EU, which the UK could win. Must increase exports with elsewhere, blah, blah. We have had more than five years, and the world hasn't yet come running to our door. But Covid, vaccines, blah, blah, all the EU's fault.

DGRossetti · 17/10/2021 10:19

Now the Telegraph is talking of a Trade War with the EU, which the UK could win. in it's own mind, perhaps. Let's remember that North Korea is the worlds best at everything at the moment ... in it's own mind.

wewereliars · 17/10/2021 10:25

North Korea came to my mind yesterday funnily enough, after reading a couple of articles in the US press, which talked in a matter of fact way about the UK being in a mess due to poor governance and Brexit.

DGRossetti · 17/10/2021 10:36

It's a testament to how ignorant Matt "not gloss" Hancock and his cabal of sycophants are that not a single one of them knew he would be ineligible for the UN gig. (I'm reminded of when the Treasury "forgot" to add VAT to their calculations for the 2012 Olympics.). Wait till they discover Britain is an island - it'll blow their fucking minds.

dontcallmelen · 17/10/2021 17:09

.

DGRossetti · 17/10/2021 17:11

This story has it all ..

huddersfieldhub.co.uk/brian-hayhurst-meets-a-huddersfield-man-driven-mad-by-bureaucracy-after-his-car-was-seized-by-spanish-police-for-no-reason/

My favourite bit(s)

Former Huddersfield gymnast and pub landlord Brian Hayhurst and his wife Elaine are ex-pats who have lived just outside Fuengirola on the Costa del Sol for 20 years.

...

With limited Spanish ...

(contd)

20 fucking years, and he only has "limited Spanish". Says it all really.

This bit is good, too:

Without doubt the 90-day max stay in Spain is affecting many.
This is especially the case for pensioners who would normally be here for over six months each winter. They are reputedly “selling their holiday homes and leaving in droves.” This 90-day restriction must surely be reviewed?
These properties are being snapped up by wealthy Spaniards from cities like Seville and Madrid

Fecking Spaniards buying properties in Spain, eh?

Did you notice how the entire article managed to avoid mentioning "Brexit" once ?
AuldAlliance · 17/10/2021 17:54

Brewhat?

Peregrina · 17/10/2021 19:52

This 90-day restriction must surely be reviewed?

Why?

jgw1 · 17/10/2021 20:05

@Peregrina

This 90-day restriction must surely be reviewed?

Why?

Because some gammon said so?
HannibalHayeski · 17/10/2021 21:06

This 90-day restriction must surely be reviewed?

Yes, but then we might have to let some of those dirty forriners stay for longer, and we wouldn't want that now, would we?

SecondRateFrog · 17/10/2021 21:48

I'm depressed that not one single person appears to have bothered to read this post. We're heading towards God knows what.

wewereliars · 17/10/2021 22:56

I just looked at your thread and commented secondratefrog.

It is absolutely terrifying!

SecondRateFrog · 17/10/2021 22:58

It's all so easy, isn't it? Because each of us is an individual and almost no-one is prepared, or bothered, to resist.

HappyWinter · 17/10/2021 23:04

That's terrifying SecondRateFrog, I'm not sure where we are heading.

wewereliars · 17/10/2021 23:08

How do we resist though, stand on a corner screaming? I feel like doing that to be honest. The ground is shifting constantly, horror follows horror on an almost daily basis. Part of the plan I expect.

SecondRateFrog · 17/10/2021 23:13

Are you allowed to stand on a corner, screaming? Under the new anti-protest legislation, isn't one person protesting in the street now a demonstration, and isn't a noisy demonstration which might annoy someone now unlawful?

mathanxiety · 18/10/2021 04:29

To be fair to Brian Hayhurst, he did mention that he hopes Boris Johnson notices that there are no shortages and plenty of everything in his neck of the Spanish woods.
