This week has seen reports of the government editing footage of Johnson to avoid embarrassing questions about the early government response.

We've been asked to accept that the rules were different to what we were told to excuse the law breaking behaviour of a senior government advisor. As Johnson said he was being a responsible father (as if Johnson knows what this is) and it wasn't as if he was visiting a lover (this Johnson would know all about). Let's be honest Johnson is the master of brazening out controversy.

We also have the ERG complaining they were lied to by Gove about the new Withdrawal Agreement and the border in the Irish Sea which surprises precisely no one else.

They appear to be a little upset by the Cummings debarkable too.

See, imagine if it was Cummings who posted that CS tweet though?

Peregrina · 24/05/2020 20:21

I agree with much of what TrueRepublica and Carol Cadwalladr says, but they might well find that they have unleashed something that they can't control.

Interesting thread from David Allen Green:

Suspect the trip to Durham was not about childcare, even at the time.
That it was a post-event rationalisation, a plausible nod-along lie to gain the cover of sympathy

Thank you RTB

pointythings · 24/05/2020 20:32

I wish I was less cynical. Of course Cummings is going to get away with it. Of course the Arcuri thing was a whitewash. Of course we're going to have a No Deal Brexit.

longwayoff · 24/05/2020 20:35

Yup pointythings. No argument. Grim isn't it.

BigChocFrenzy · 24/05/2020 20:37

Can I ask what was said about schools please? I have seen a June 15 date bandied about but no idea of the reference? Is it something about secondary or primary?

yoikes · 24/05/2020 20:46

auld best wishes to you and your mum.

Thank you for all your kind words. Means a lot.

My aunt was awesome. I admired her immensely. She spent her whole life serving God and her community, working with the poor and raised hundreds of thousands of €€€€€ over the years for the sick childrens hospital.

Once, many years ago she went on a pilgrimage. The country was struck by a tropical storm/hurricane. She totally refused to evacuate and scoffed "I'm not scared of a bit of wind!" (The storm changed course and she was fine)

She caused much local consternation by going on the back of my dads yamaha motorbike - her veil streaming out under her helmet 😂

She travelled all over the world and had a great understanding of human frailty.

A life well lived.

BCF - the ads haven't aged well. Advert just came of TV - SH and I nearly choked ..... not in a good way. It will be interesting, as it serves as a reminder of the DC shit show.... stocked the flames of fucked off-ness...... I wonder how many other households had the same reaction

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 24/05/2020 20:49

The June 15 date was re year 10/12 having face to face contact with their teachers. I think they also said they were expecting about 1/4 of them to be in school at a time time. But I might have misinterpreted that.

MagisCapulus · 24/05/2020 20:52

@RafalsTheKingOfClay Thank you.

And I was remiss in not giving Flowers to yoikes earlier, and thank you Red for the thread
