The UK now has the opportunity to create an even better future for its citizens. We have our independence back, we have our voice back at the world table, we have our immigration policy back, our money back, our laws back... the list goes on and on. the future is bright for the UK.

We will ALL be partying hard tonight for tomorrow we make the UK great again.

AutumnRose1 · 01/02/2020 01:37

Before I turn in....

🎀 we’ve come a long long way together🎀

Thank you all so much πŸ’•

BoswellSolver · 01/02/2020 07:49

Well, I fell asleep and missed the whole thing!

Still, I get to wake up fresh and revived to an independent UK!
Sounds like the coverage was atrocious anyway....

othervoicesotherrooms · 01/02/2020 08:04

Open the champagne.

OMG. Haha.

othervoicesotherrooms · 01/02/2020 08:06

So what next that will benefit the people of the UK?

Nobody knows that's why regaining the freedom we never lost is so exciting...GrinHmm

Cupofteaandtoilet · 01/02/2020 08:39

https://www.independent.co.uk/voices/brexit-nigel-farage-parliament-square-a9312436.html

The gulf is as wide as it has ever been: one side revels in regaining its imagined independence, while the other mourns the terrible loss of having been part of something big, something ambitious, with its eyes fixed on the future and not drunk on the imagined glories of the past.

Limer · 01/02/2020 08:53

Morning folks! Last night my OH set his phone alarm to the Big Ben Bongs for 11pm, we all cheered when they went off and everyone was toasting Brexit Wine Didn't get home until about 1am Wine

Just watched Boris's speech and caught up with some of the coverage from last night Grin

I see the gloom-merchants are already about Shock I'm not engaging - the arguments on both sides have been repeated endlessly over the last 3+ years. Busy weekend ahead - lots of fun to be had!

WeSavedSallySally · 01/02/2020 09:01

Not Angelina you could have shared that trick I was gutted it was wasn't on TV!!.

It was like David Bowie at Glastonbury but they were showing someone guy on a flute in a room with hay bales.

WeSavedSallySally · 01/02/2020 09:03

Cup of tea the only division in that quote is within the mind of the person who wrote it.

The eu project is no longer ambitious and forward looking.

howabout · 01/02/2020 09:09

Big Ben Bonged. Nuff said. Grin

(Now you know how I feel every Hogmanay. The BBC send a whole crew to Edinburgh for the NYE Party and then don't show it on TV and we get left with some prebaked month old tin of stale shortbread) Shock

SingingLily · 01/02/2020 09:10

Morning, Boswell, Limer and Sally, good to see you.

If you would like breakfast, it's ready in the Westminster Arms...

othervoicesotherrooms · 01/02/2020 09:11

It was a really classy affair by all accounts!
Great write ups this morning. GrinHmm

I’ve listened back now to the sound on my dictaphone that records Britain’s moment of liberation and it goes exactly like this: β€œTen! Nine! Eight! Seven! Six! Five! Four! Three! Two! One! FREEDOM!!!! YEAAAASSSS!!!! F FREEDOM!!!! WE F DID IT!!! F FREEDOM!!! F DO ONE!! F DO ONE!!!!”

It seems as worthy a catch phrase of the moment as anything else. F do one! Who exactly? Absolutely everyone. It doesn’t matter. Just f do one. Put that, as they say, on the side of the bus.

howabout · 01/02/2020 09:11

PS just watched 17m F Offs to check. The weird one with glasses and a long name is part of the Labour crew who "know better than us" so defo RLB.

AutumnRose1 · 01/02/2020 09:44

howabout thanks, that was going to bug me

We have our independence back never lost it
we have our voice back at the world table sadly we have less of a voice now that we're isolated
we have our immigration policy back always had it but let's see what the actual changes are
our money back brexit has already cost us more than 3 decades of membership
our laws back well, we had our own laws to start with, and as for EU laws (which will have an impact on us because we will HAVE to trade with the EU one way or another) we have no say in them whatsoever...
the future is bright for the UK I hope you're right, truly, sincerely, because I love this country but the leave case is still not winning me over.

*gas - has!

Sally it is brave round here.

Absolutepowercorrupts · 01/02/2020 10:14

@Songsofexperience

notangelinajolie · 01/02/2020 10:47

@WeSavedSallySally sorry you missed it But you can watch it again here Smile

I think someone mentioned the channel earlier on in the thread.

Autumn not a real wake but it sure looked like one. One of the Sky broadcasts was from a very empty looking square in Brussels. There was a tent and about half a dozen people standing in the background with beer in hand.

Songsofexperience · 01/02/2020 10:57

There is nothing brave about it. The Union flag is not a symbol of brexit. It's not reserved to brexit supporters. You can be proudly British and proudly remain...

WeSavedSallySally · 01/02/2020 11:22

Ahh thanks not Angelina...

Fabulous atmosphere! Gutted didn't go!

Glorious... It was packed wasn't it. Not that msm did any shots of it...

Walkingdeadfangirl · 01/02/2020 17:49

Was great waking up this morning to our bright new future. We have got our country back and its all up from here. I am still hungover from all the celebrations so will head over to the Westminster Arms for some food and bright cheery faces.

Still can believe we finally managed to defeat all the nay sayers, they put up a good fight but our democracy was stronger, the people have spoken.

Arseaboutdarkly · 01/02/2020 18:28

Blimey, this is a worse party than the Tories Grin

Doubletrouble99 · 01/02/2020 18:55

Missed the shindig in here last night, had our own little party up here in Scotty Land. Champers, steak and chips, my fav. A great day for DH and I got a letter from HSBC saying they would pay us compensation for our PPI - just under Β£10K!!! Then DS got so exited he through his phone onto his bed which bounced off his TV and smashed it! He saved up all last year for it - 55" 4k ! So very eventful in the Doubletrouble household. Will be joining you in the politics section, didn't know where you'd gone.

MonnaLIza · 01/02/2020 22:41

let's see how long your 'party' lasts.
