Hi Junk! Nice to meet you! 😊

Great post, thank you. I totally agree. πŸ₯‚

scaryteacher · 31/01/2020 23:42

Belle That's why it was interesting living on the Brussels periphery for the last 13 years as a leaver. Dh was seconded to the EU, and on retirement from HM Forces was encouraged to apply for a job there. He refused as he said he wouldn't be able to look at himself in the mirror when shaving if he worked there.

Europe is a great place; I especially adore Vienna and the cake (go Cafe Central!), cakegasms all the way, but do we really need a supranational organisation telling the EU member states what to do?

I bet the trade negotiations will fail, and we'll be on WTO by August.

🍷 Junkshop

Feel free to join us on the politics pub thread (The Westminster Arms)

We moved there because we're (as a country) moving on from Brexit now (finally!) - we've a group of regulars who came together in common purpose in support of Brexit, but are a varied bunch politically & are interested in general politics and chit-chat

A fab bunch of people on there ❀️

I missed the reason why Boris didn't do the the speech on MsmShock so it's all out war! Wow!

To think the BBC has been denied the right to host our pm speech....

Big guns out and after tonight's disgraceful appalling coverage....

If anyone has links to any speeches from parliament Square etc (not vince cable) please post them..
They must not sell out those fisherman.

EpicIndividual · 31/01/2020 23:59

β€œTo think the BBC has been denied the right to host our pm speech....β€œ

By all accounts, they opted out! Not sure for def on that though, more info needed.

WeSavedSallySally · 01/02/2020 00:03

Wow well what ever has happened is signs of massive rift..

madcatladyforever · 01/02/2020 00:08

Congratulations everyone, this really is the best day of my life.
A day I never ever thought I would see but we the people have spoken.
Feeling incredibly proud.

MrsSnippyPants · 01/02/2020 00:09

I am Autumn it’s been quite a night!
I am now tucked up in bed in the hotel and need a good night’s sleep to be fit for Women’s Lib conference tomorrow.
DH will be quite happy to potter around the Science and Natural History museums and then settle down in a pub for the Six Nations rugby while I am meeting some amazing women (Maya is speaking!)

AutumnRose1 · 01/02/2020 00:11

I thought so MrsSnippy

There’s another thread talking about how poor it was, not from anyone who went, obviously

Enjoy the event tomorrow- keep fighting the good fight Wine

Walkingdeadfangirl · 01/02/2020 00:13

Well the sky hasn't fallen in, the pound hasn't crashed, their isn't a recession, no food shortages, no medicine shortages, no planes grounded (apart from the Chinese virus issue), no house price crash, no stock market collapse, no riots, we still have sandwiches, no super gonorrhoea, western civilisation is still going....

I think it must be going ok so far. 3 cheers, or project fear?

InfiniteSheldon · 01/02/2020 00:16

Just checking in to say well done all, the coverage was so awful we turned it off and put 17 million fuck offs on repeat off to bed now glad we kept our little corner

AutumnRose1 · 01/02/2020 00:19

🎀 the sky will fall in ...tomorrow
Bet your bottom euro
That fake news
Will show that

Just thinking about
The euro
Clears away the workers

When I’m stuck with a day
That’s lonely
And full of Remoaners

I just stick out my chin
And grin
And say
β€œOh look, the pound’s risen againβ€œ

So you gotta hang on till Monday
And the market will say
Oh look, there’s still sandwiches 🎀

SilverySurfer · 01/02/2020 00:19

Boris's speech if anyone wants to see it in the absence of it being shown on any news channel this evening:

I thought it was pretty good.

AutumnRose1 · 01/02/2020 00:27

Thank you Silvery

Covers the points made by pp on the
UK having become pusillanimous

EpicIndividual · 01/02/2020 00:34

Well, the stock market is kinda diving 😬, but it started a few days ago now and is related to Corona virus nerves. But I’m sure the growing pandemic mega plague will be ignored in favour of the doomsayers claiming the first Brexit economic fail. πŸ˜‰ I’ll be generous though and give them a 48 hour head start.

EpicIndividual · 01/02/2020 00:35

Loving the Song Autumn! πŸ˜‚

AutumnRose1 · 01/02/2020 00:37

Not my best effort

Also loving the Song Autumn!

EpicIndividual · 01/02/2020 00:37

Oh... hang on. Maybe the arch brexiteers released mega plague doom to distract from Brexit? One for the Conspiracy theorists elsewhere to chew on. Happy to throw them a bone. πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‚

Perfect pic Dusty, its the dawn of a new era.

notangelinajolie · 01/02/2020 01:10

News channels coverage of tonight was dreadful. To not show the PM's message to the people was downright pathetic yet they manage to send a news crew to Brussels to cover a wake with about six people attending.

Not to worry - where there is a will there is ALWAYS a way. Full Boris interview is on Facebook and I found a live stream of the party in Parliament Square on an EU Channel.

All is good and bloody hell - what a night Grin

DioneTheDiabolist · 01/02/2020 01:15

So what next that will benefit the people of the UK?

AutumnRose1 · 01/02/2020 01:16

β€œ yet they manage to send a news crew to Brussels to cover a wake with about six people attending.”

Oh dear, what was that?

I’m going to try to wind down and go to bed....
