I'm sticking with John Bercow.

SheOfManyNames · 12/12/2019 23:15

I' quite like to go to a count. Obviously I can't tonight. Does anyone know how it works? Can any of the public attend? How do you get in if so?

BigChocFrenzy · 12/12/2019 23:15

"It appears for Labour to win they need a gorgeous, charismatic Tory Lite"

This GE, not if they are a Remainer

RedToothBrush · 12/12/2019 23:15

Britain Elects @britainelects
Exit Poll suggests Tories are to gain Hyndburn, which would mean 24 year-old Sara Britcliffe becomes the youngest MP.

I'm channel flipping to avoid the more obnoxious individuals - going between BBC and sky and the number10cat Twitter

lonelyplanetmum · 12/12/2019 23:17

Sadly prediction based on exit polls suggests Dominic Grieve will lose his seat.

Obvious path for Scotland now is to have an (unsanctioned) indicative referendum. The Tories have succeeded after many many attempts at tearing up the Westminster rule book. So why on earth should Scotland play by the rules? Why follow due process and wait for Tory permission to hold their further vote? Just do it regardless - surely that's the precedent that's been set?

TheMustressMhor · 12/12/2019 23:17

Well Milijea I agree with what you're saying - and after 40 + years as midwife, this result has clarified things for me.

Resignation goes in this week.

I've done my time. Goodbye, NHS.

TiddleTaddleTat · 12/12/2019 23:17

RTB do you mean to say that 65 seats were very tight on the exit poll?
Maybe it won't be as thumping a Tory maj as predicted

TiddleTaddleTat · 12/12/2019 23:17

(Or it could be even bigger, of course)

Kuponut · 12/12/2019 23:17

They're boring as shit unless you're part of the local political clique she

CendrillonSings · 12/12/2019 23:17

I wonder if Labour regrets blocking May’s Deal three times?

That was a good idea, wasn’t it?

GhostofFrankGrimes · 12/12/2019 23:17

The centre has failed because it was not in tune with the majority - believing it could defeat english nationalism on the right and denounce democratic socialism on the left.

TatianaLarina · 12/12/2019 23:18

If only Remainer MPs had accepted reality at the 3rd attempt of May's WA

When will you accept that the May’s deal resulted in the same outcome - just as it was designed to. An Erger would supersede May and the U.K. would eventually agree with the EU that a deal could not be reached, NI would be ditched in the backstop and England fucks off. That was always the plan. The idea that May’s deal would lead to soft Brexit was only ever in your head.

SheOfManyNames · 12/12/2019 23:18

Mark Francios (Tory MP) is comparing Labour Party to East Germany on the BBC....

Dontlickthetrolley · 12/12/2019 23:18

If there's 65 seats that are too close to call, how can they have been added in to the Exit Poll?

BigChocFrenzy · 12/12/2019 23:19

This was the Brexit election, stupid

The Remain vote was split too unfavourably among multiple parties
whereas Leavers knew to vote Tory

Everyone trying to blame Corbyn is just avoiding this fact

TatianaLarina · 12/12/2019 23:19

I’m off to bed. Sleep as well as you can people x

The80sweregreat · 12/12/2019 23:19

There is always hope. When the dust settles and Jeremy is a footnote in history then they can come back with a new leader and a better mandate. We are not a socialist country and it's time they realised this.
They need to listen to the people more. Clarity on brexit would have helped.

CanadianJohn · 12/12/2019 23:20

A Tory win was always on the cards, as far as I could see from 3500 miles away. But a big majority... oh dear.

I am reminded of a Toyota ad...

You asked for it!
You got it!
Bend over.

borntobequiet · 12/12/2019 23:20

Yes, my question was about the sampling rather than the size...because how can a small sample be properly representative of so many different demographics?

PermanentTemporary · 12/12/2019 23:20

Yes, I think so ThatSeventiesLass. I did actually agree that this Parliament stank like a week old pilchard, entertaining and encouraging though some of its actions were. the Tories free of the ERG and the DUP and, thank God, the Brexit party have the chance to be reasonable news in some areas. I think perhaps there are some new things struggling to be born which kind of have to be born, though the country will be bleaker and tougher as a result. I think there will be some unexpected gains, thinking particularly of increased localism. Nobody with any integrity could possibly think the EU was all good news all the time - there WILL actually be some positive changes resulting from Brexit. And it feels like there might be a republic within my lifetime. Bleaker, colder, more visceral? I don't know. We have to find ways of taking care of each other more separately from the state, which is always supposed to be the Tory vision. But people won't put up with condescending charity any more. There might even be a bottom up resurgence of collectivism and cooperation which ultimately will cause something new in politics. The Royal Family might finally be gone. They suddenly look as tawdry, as tinpot as they actually are. Children shouldn't be born to find themselves locked into a destiny like Prince William has been and Prince George has been. Tear it down.

RedToothBrush · 12/12/2019 23:20

This

If there's 65 seats that are too close to call, how can they have been added in to the Exit Poll?
Balance of probabilities

Blyth Valley offically a recount

OP posts:
Sostenueto · 12/12/2019 23:21

Looks as if labour may be about to lose their first seat ffs! Corbyn and Brexiterrs have a lot to answer to......recount now in Blythe Valley OMG! It's been labour since 1950!

tabulahrasa · 12/12/2019 23:21

“If there's 65 seats that are too close to call, how can they have been added in to the Exit Poll?”

It’s just a prediction... it could be wrong, it’s just how much it’s wrong by...

I mean, it has SNP taking Orkney and Shetland!!!

I’m still going, WTF? Tbh...

lonelyplanetmum · 12/12/2019 23:21

Confirmed Blyth won't be first...as are having to do recounting. For somewhere so far down the red wall to be that close.. a 9% swing at least.
