Blyth Valley is where I'm from originally, I will be sad if it goes Tory.

BigChocFrenzy · 12/12/2019 23:09

FrankGrimes So was it the centre that failed, or the left ?

Or just that England has decided to vote hard right nationalist

  • which is nothing that the centre or left could ever pretend to be
HarveySchlumpfenburger · 12/12/2019 23:09

I think it’s the sampling rather than the size of the sample that dictates the accuracy of the poll born. Smaller samples aren’t necessarily less accurate.

96% chance that Tories have lost the seat they’ve held forever to an independent here. I’m going to cling on to that.

ThatSeventiesLass · 12/12/2019 23:09

Is there any chance Johnson will be a success??

tobee · 12/12/2019 23:09

You forgot cowardice lonely

OhYouBadBadKitten · 12/12/2019 23:09

Mine is Tory hold. Which is obvious it would be. I did my bit.
New plan for tonight, finish my whisky, go to bed. Tomorrow, work, netflix, wine, forecast the weather.

This battle is done, but the war is not over. Time to retreat, to repair and bolster the troops.

RedToothBrush · 12/12/2019 23:09

Britain Elects @britainelects
Hearing that Clacton (the only seat UKIP won in #GE2015) may have become the safest Tory seat.

ZigAZigAhh · 12/12/2019 23:09

@tobee - yep, same constituency and exactly the same message I was hearing from everyone. What the fuck. It bears absolutely no semblance to reality.

TheMustressMhor · 12/12/2019 23:10

Jo Swinson is going to lose her seat.

amd4578 · 12/12/2019 23:10

The people to blaim for this are the labour MPs that rejected May's deal for the third time but then voted for Boris's worse deal even admitting it was worse than May's!! As much as they didn't want it to be, it was an election on Brexit not normal politics!!

BigChocFrenzy · 12/12/2019 23:10

lonely You'd do better to equip her with what she needs to be able to emigrate

To somewhere that isn't dog eat dog

Violetparis · 12/12/2019 23:11

Many in the centre and left never accepted the referendum result, that has caused the failure imo.

ThatSeventiesLass · 12/12/2019 23:11

It appears for Labour to win they need a gorgeous, charismatic Tory Lite. Doesn't matter about his/her moral fibre or principles.

RedToothBrush · 12/12/2019 23:11

Rumours of a recount in Blyth Valley

Lindesfarne Mead is from Holy Island - about 5m from me.

My constituency is already safe Tory - Anne Marie Trevelyan

I could walk St Cuthberts Way and go to Melrose in Scotland I suppose?

mrsjg · 12/12/2019 23:12

Apparently my constituency is too close to call and could swing from Labour to Conservative. Last time we had a Tory MP was in 1959.

We regularly feature in the top 10 of poorest towns and yet we may have elected a Tory MP.

If this is true then what the absolute fuck were people thinking?

tobee · 12/12/2019 23:13

@ZigAZigAhh there were endless LibDem leaflets saying it's Tory/LibDem and Labour were out of it! I thought it was unlikely seeing the 2017 result

Dusty01 · 12/12/2019 23:13

IDS safe apparently

Is that definite Red. I so wanted Faiza Shaheen to get in. She is brilliant.

They've found Francois again on bbc, unfortunately.

Miljea · 12/12/2019 23:13

Cut into the end.

Actually, sadly, but this provides clarity to me as a front line NHS worker in a Tory constituency. I will not stay one minute after my allotted shift (out patient scanning). I'm gone.

I will so want to explain to the waiting room that, sorry that we are running late, we've been running 20% staffing down for months, thus an hour behind every, single, day -but- now? - go home, you'll get rebooked, but I now know that you are okay with the sale of the NHS. You've lost my 'good will'.

Good luck with what follows.

tobee · 12/12/2019 23:14

Here you go Mark Francois on the BBC!!! Just when you thought your night couldn't get any worse

RedToothBrush · 12/12/2019 23:14

Apparently the exit poll as 65 Seats which are regarded as too close to call.

The80sweregreat · 12/12/2019 23:14

Labour have lost it all. People were suspicious of JC.
It's just so hard to get your head around but I did predict all this months ago.
Too old in the tooth!

ThatSeventiesLass · 12/12/2019 23:15

I'm going to give the kids a great Christmas and then plan our escape

Excellent idea Fluffy. I am going home to Ireland. I'm on an ESF contract that will vanish soon so going home.
