pinboard 💐
Some petty bureaucrats given a little power can be the worst authoritarian bullies
They love to abuse their power over the vulnerable, just because they can

Well done to your DS, nerd

Genuine question , how can people tell how well a party is doing in an area before the votes are counted ?

ThatSeventiesLass · 12/12/2019 20:49

Pinboard I am so sorry to hear that. There is so much dehumanising of people on benefits and people buy into it all too easily. I feel heartbroken tonight as a very dear relative of mine, who I grew up with viewed as a sister, has texted to say she voted Tory in a very marginal seat. Her husband actually tried to be a member of the party at one point. She is REALLY lovely...I have to try to forget she did that I think. I know everyone has the right to vote but I feel strangely let down.

KenDodd · 12/12/2019 20:50

Do you think at 10pm the Brexitarms lot will come over gloating about 'we won, you lost' to stupid to realise that we've all lost?

ThatSeventiesLass · 12/12/2019 20:50

Vote for whom they want I mean.

Dusty01 · 12/12/2019 20:50

Pinboard - what happened to you is sinister and signs of much much worse to come if BJ gets in.

I’m not getting too hopeful that Labour will get in. Neither am I holding my breath for the forthcoming poll. Doubt it will be linked in anyway to the truth. Whatever happens the Youthquake is heartening and I hope the inspiration to vote - making their voices heard-continues.

BigChocFrenzy · 12/12/2019 20:50

mustress Your tree saga 😂
Best go out and admire the remaining bit, before a plague of locusts scoffs it

DeRigueurMortis · 12/12/2019 20:51

So an admittedly anecdotal poll from family.

Tory remainers voted Tory.

Labour Leave voters voted Tory.

Everyone under 30 voted Labour.

Sad
Deux · 12/12/2019 20:52

I’m in Raab’s constituency. He currently has a strong majority but the remain vote was 62% remain. The LDs have been campaigning relentlessly here. We’ve had daily leaflets for the last 3 weeks, some addressed to us and some letterbox. Some days 2 or more pieces. Also 2 pieces not from LDHQ, one of which was in a newspaper format. By contrast only 2 measly leaflets from Tories and a solitary one from Labour.

I’m hoping the smarmy faced git loses his seat.

ThatSeventiesLass · 12/12/2019 20:52

I think the Youthquake is wonderful...it gives me hope that these young people will take to the streets to stop Johnson from wreaking the havoc he wants. Even if he wins, I bet he realises he will not have the easy ride he hoped for.

I don't have Sky and have been turned off by BBC this election. Is ITV election coverage my only other option this evening ?

lavenderbongo · 12/12/2019 20:54

I’m a lurker here but thought I might cheer you up by telling you about my parents. Life long story voters have just voted Labour 😊

@Stinkyeddie St Jude for lost causes and St Rita for the impossible. 😁 I offered up every Mass I've been to these past few weeks. If Tories win, I'll be having words with the man upstairs. Or woman of course.

JustAnotherPoster00 · 12/12/2019 20:57

sky news is also on youtube if you go to the 'live' section tiddle

Random18 · 12/12/2019 20:58

So what happens if some big Tories lose their seats but they still get a majority?

I mean long term. The whole demographic will have changed.

Would they still move forward with their Brexit?

The voters they are alienating are the ones they will win in every normal election.

They will not win Labour Leave again unless they actually start taking a positive difference to peoples lifes - and we know that that will alienate even more of their traditional base.

Even if they win tonight I think are genuinely fucked - pardon the language

ThatSeventiesLass · 12/12/2019 20:59

Ken I liked the little narcissist think a PP posted earlier., about narcissists being bad losers AND winners.

If Tories win I am going to step away from politics and concentrate on having the best family Christmas I can. Try to bring joy where possible.

ThatSeventiesLass · 12/12/2019 21:00

That's brilliant Lavender. I like voters who think critically and not just do what they have always done.

colouringinpro · 12/12/2019 21:01

thanks Lavender

started on the Wine here.

even if I do go to bed after the exit poll I think the chance of sleeping is about 1%

BigChocFrenzy · 12/12/2019 21:01

Sky is worth it for Bercow !

I'm watching Sky Live on Tinternet, as I don't have UK TV
