Dominic Cummings pictured inside Nato summit despite No10 saying he resigned from government for the election

This makes me Angry. Who is paying him? Is it we the tax payer? What is his role now?

tobee · 04/12/2019 15:13

Angrybut not surprising

Icantreachthepretzels · 04/12/2019 15:19

oh my goodness the Queen's speech thing is ridiculous - this is the transcript of the interview:

twitter.com/johnestevens/status/1202200379833892865/photo/1

You don't watch it do you Mr. Corbyn?

Do you think she was shining a light in his eyes when she asked that?

As an aside, does anyone else find themselves becoming more and more pro Corbyn the more ridiculous mud they sling at him?

DGRossetti · 04/12/2019 15:24

Why I don't rely on the BBC any more

pressgazette.co.uk/jewish-chronicle-rapped-ipso-lack-of-evidence-claims-labour-activist/

DGRossetti · 04/12/2019 15:27

Pretty certain I could blag my way through a grilling on the Queens speech despite never having seen one myself.

As an aside, does anyone else find themselves becoming more and more pro Corbyn the more ridiculous mud they sling at him?

There is that danger - like a snowball. It also runs the risk of becoming unstoppable - as with most dirty tricks.

You can't play with danger without risk to yourself. It's not dangerous otherwise, is it ?

tobee · 04/12/2019 15:28

Hooray! Ds's postal vote arrived!

30daysoflight · 04/12/2019 15:31

My results were 33.3% Plaid and 22.2% for Labour, Green and Lib Dem.
Will vote Labour as Plaid rarely do well in my constituency and it was a leave area need to make sure anyone blue does really badly. Still cannot believe how people voted leave in a deprived area which has benefitted from so much EU investment.

StarbucksSmarterSister · 04/12/2019 15:33

As an aside, does anyone else find themselves becoming more and more pro Corbyn the more ridiculous mud they sling at him?

Yes. I haven't voted Labour for nearly 20 years and am doing so now because tactically it's best where I live and the current Tories are vile But the last couple of weeks I find myself becoming pro Corbyn, not just pro Labour.

I'm not sure he's the best leader they could have but ridiculous smear attempts such as this smack of desperation.

Im in a Plaid safe seat Angry

DGRossetti · 04/12/2019 15:36

Hooray! Ds's postal vote arrived!

We'll be picking DS up from his (about 3 miles away) and giving him a lift to vote (I bet we end up picking up the tab for lunch Grin).

Reflecting on the low engagement with younger voters, it can only be something around the fact that at age 18 or so, you really have no idea how the world works with respect to any idea that you might be able to change it. Although kids today - much like my generation - are actually unique in having been exposed to 6 national votes in 10 years. So they should be more aware that people can change things by voting ?

DGRossetti · 04/12/2019 15:37

Icantreachthepretzels · 04/12/2019 15:52

As James O'brien put it: Our prime minister has just been publicly owned by a beef burger.

placemats · 04/12/2019 15:58

Well I was wrong. It was 75% Green Party and 25% Labour.

I didn't select all though. It probably would have equalled out.

Interesting.

Icantreachthepretzels · 04/12/2019 16:02

From the press conference:
Boris is asked whether NHS will definitely be off the table in US trade talks and says: "Oh boy. Everybody by now has rumbled this for the nonsense that it is"

Is it me or could that answer be taken in two ways?
Yes we do all know its nonsense that the NHS will be off the table, Boris.
Following this answer he announced he was wrapping up the press conference.

placemats · 04/12/2019 16:03

So far in all the younger voters I know age 18-30.

9 Labour
3 LibDem
2 Conservative.

Icantreachthepretzels · 04/12/2019 16:04

That was from the telegraph ^
This is how the independent reported it:

I asked Boris Johnson if he had made crystal clear to Donald Trump that the NHS and pharmaceuticals should not be part of trade talks. He didn’t answer, gave a three-minute stump speech about Brexit and Jeremy Corbyn, and ended the press conference...

Alsohuman · 04/12/2019 16:16

As an aside, does anyone else find themselves becoming more and more pro Corbyn the more ridiculous mud they sling at him?

Absolutely, I’ve moved from holding my nose to bring it on.

thecatfromjapan · 04/12/2019 16:47

Oh boy. Jo Swinson is having a bad, bad election.
She's currently being ratioed in Twitter for trans rights stuff.

twitter.com/joswinson/status/1202224094575570944?s=21

Ultimately, we need the Lib Dem's to do well in order to prevent a Johnson victory.

(And, obviously, if you are a Lib Dem, you just want them to do well.)

I really wish she'd kept away from such a controversial area in the run up to polling day.

(Someone reassure me this is OK. I'm open to reassurance.)

thecatfromjapan · 04/12/2019 16:51

To be more positive: I have a cold and am feeling a bit irritated and gloomy. So I'm probably being more pessimistic than I should be.

My only hope locally is that bridgen seems very, very unpopular with a lot of people.
So hoping the racists and leavers vote for the loony libertarian and independent candidate.
Still only had a tory leaflet through the door...election a week away!!

Stinkyeddie · 04/12/2019 16:54

Hope you feel better soon cat x
