If there is a 2nd Indyref, then it is up to those that support the Union to make the case for it.

That's what the right to self-determination means.

It's not a forgone conclusion that "Yes" would win (or however the pro-Indy answer is worded). FWIW - I think that Indyref2 is coming sooner than Nicola would've ideally liked - but given the damage that Brexit ( any Brexit Sad) will permanently do to the Scottish economy, I think that she's being pushed by circumstances to wanting to hold it earlier to mitigate that.

I heard her say a few years ago that she would like the polls to be 60:40 in favour - but starting at 50:50, as some recent polls have suggested, is waaaaay ahead of where they were when the last Indyref campaign started, when it was between 32-38%.

BaloneyInMySlacks · 06/12/2019 15:10

waaaaay or 'Wha Hae'?

BaloneyInMySlacks · 06/12/2019 15:11

Too much time with 9 year-olds, sorry.

Or Count Binface.

Ellie56 · 06/12/2019 15:18

At least he goes to the hustings.

JustAnotherPoster00 · 06/12/2019 15:18

(where's David Miliband when you need him?)

Yes what we need now is a guy who couldnt even win a leadership election [eye roll]

Alsohuman · 06/12/2019 15:23

Not bloody David Milliband again. He’s been history for ten years. Meanwhile, here in 2019 ..

MockersFactCheckMN · 06/12/2019 15:31

Meanwhile, here in 2019...

There's a Starmer, waiting in the wings
He'd like to come and lead us
But Momentum pull the strings

thecatfromjapan · 06/12/2019 15:33

To cheer everyone up:

JustAnotherPoster00 · 06/12/2019 15:33

But Momentum pull the strings

Would love some evidence of this oft rolled out claim

Lightkeeper · 06/12/2019 15:36

Well, Starmer is fine... but he will have the same issue as DM who would have been more electable by the general public, but couldn't be elected as a leader!

That's politics for you.

JustAnotherPoster00 · 06/12/2019 15:40

but he will have the same issue as DM who would have been more electable by the general public

Fucking evidence free day today

ListeningQuietly · 06/12/2019 15:40

Just watched the Boris clip.
He did not say Talent
because even with an Eton Education, the tongue has to come up to the roof of the mouth to make a T sound which pulls the side of the mouth in.
His mouth did not, it stayed wide to make a C noise
He said Colour

Stinkyeddie · 06/12/2019 15:41

All right, my loves?
I'm eyeing up DH's 10 year old mead from lindisfarne for election night...🍷
I'll probably end up in a & e 😬

KeithPartridge · 06/12/2019 15:41

That other thread is bad for my blood pressure. People still think Labour caused the bank crash and global recession ffs.

Piggywaspushed · 06/12/2019 15:41

Ah, I met Ed Miliband once at a cricket course (as you do). He was lovely. Sad looking but lovely.

Piggywaspushed · 06/12/2019 15:43

Neither expression makes sense:

people in the UK do not tend to say 'people of colour'

but no one anywhere says 'people of talent'

But then this is Boris. He is an inarticulate nincompoop.

Icantreachthepretzels · 06/12/2019 15:46

Obviously I want Ali Milani to win in Uxbridge - but I hope Count Binface beats Boris into a poor third position. How embarrassing to not only be an unseated sitting PM - but to lose to a joke candidate.

In other news - on watching Count Binface's video, I find I have been pronouncing 'Ruislip' wrong.

BigChocFrenzy · 06/12/2019 15:51

I am mixed race and I say People of Colour / Women of Colour
Some BAME do; some don't

It is more common in the USA - but BJ was born a US citizen

I can't tell whether he said colour or talent - but I am registered hearing disabled
I find he speaks very badly sometimes - I'm not talking of political content, but he spews out words at 100 mph and doesn't form some words clearly
I find him difficult to understand, purely from a hearing pov, but those with full hearing may not experience this.

BigChocFrenzy · 06/12/2019 15:53

"People of talent" is more a Borisism
I even wonder if he practiced merging the words "colour" and "talent" to give a deniable dogwhistle

BigChocFrenzy · 06/12/2019 15:55

Former Labour & Tory PMs rally against a Tory majority

Blair is attending with John Major at the event calling on Remainers to vote tactically against the Tories

I even specifically posted, for the hard of reading:
"< Blair is just as amazing, considering how much he despises Corbyn - so he finds the hard right Tories even worse >"

Also attending are David Gauke, Tory Independent
and Alistair Campbell, who was expelled from the Labour Party for voting LDem at the EP elections - but he also says we must vote to stop the Tories

politicshome.com/news/uk/political-parties/conservative-party/news/108402/former-tory-pm-john-major-join-election

The high-profile pair, who both support a second EU referendum,
will urge people to vote tactically for the pro-Remain candidate most likely to defeat Conservatives in their seat.

Alsohuman · 06/12/2019 15:56

I’ve seen a lot of elections but this is a new one on me.

Johnson stump speech in Rochester cancelled on police advice

Peregrina · 06/12/2019 15:56

I think later videos have been doctored. This is important surely.

My opinion too. I noted how fed up his audience looked though.
