Westminstenders: Frozen

Boris Johnson was empty chaired by C4 with a block of ice.

The Conservatives went mental and have threatened to look at C4 broadcast remit.

This is illiberal and anti democratic.

Journalists are supposed to hold power to account on behalf of the public. If MPs don't turn up then they can't be held to account.

They have a duty to show. It's not good enough to avoid scrutiny because it might make you look bad. That's the whole point.

The contempt with which Johnson holds the press and public is reprehensible and you should be concerned whatever your political alligence. It allows corruption to fester without consequence.

And to then threaten C4 because they do their job in line with their responsibility as a broadcaster is alarming.

This is how authoritarian dictators work.

Perhaps some of you, who ever cross its doors could report the Brexit Arms thread too.

Report it for what?

PMK.

I've been signed off work with stress till end of next week. My boss is encouraging me to take a sanity sabbatical until the uni holiday shutdown is over. Political shit has contributed, though 95% primarily it's workload and expectations out of whack.

I doubt I'm alone, though. I can afford this break, and private counselling. And I've had the luxury of support from my boss and my team How many can't afford this, though? For how many would this be the start of a spiral into poverty and maybe homelessness? Or would they keep working and suffering until they break into a million pieces which are impossible to pick up again? I think of our squid and her colleagues in the NHS, and the Amazon workers and delivery drivers and all the zero hours workers and despair.

I'll be able to return to work, with proper and well thought out adjustments that I will have a hand in. How many wouldn't? The state of the workforce in this country, it's so precarious, and the safety net so full of holes, the mental health provision is almost non existent, even for those in full crisis. I despair.

I believe in free speech Peregrina.

Although, for some that's only if it's the right kind of people, with the right kind of free speech. Like that what is deployed by Boris Johnson and Jacob Rees-Mogg, doffs cap.

Do you ever feel like you're being permanently watched? It's like being in China or Purtin's Russia.

A fight between threads solves nothing and only gives MN an excuse to shut down the whole topic. Don't be like the monitors in FWR. Don't report the other lot unless it's genuinely a breach of guidelines, and I would hope the others are grown up enough to do the same with Westminstenders. I don't agree with them but they've as much a right to a place to talk as anyone.

How else would The True People be able to vigilantly spot all signs of their oppression by Evil Cesspit Traitors?

A grateful PMK. Red Thank you.

The Conservative elite's contempt for the press, namely Channel 4, is shocking. It makes me wonder what pressure is being put on the BBC as well.

Welcome to North Korea everyone.

MShip

Good to see you back and to hear you're getting the support you need. As you say, you're probably an exception and others are just left to crumble on their own.

Still, if someone falls to pieces, they can just be shoved out and some other poor sucker dragged in to continue the cycle.

Some very courageous people

All underpaid but are courageous enough to do their duty.

Meanwhile our current PM refuses to attend a leader's debate, his dad hasn't a clue where he is. Someone else steps in and is rejected. The upshot being that the channel that hosted the debate is now being referred to Ofsted.

MShip Flowers.

It's true what you said, how many people just fall through the cracks due to mental health? Or other health issues for that matter.

Appalling. The footage of the chap in a suit carrying away that huge knife, tears sprung to my eyes.

Awful news today

Those poor people killed on London Bridge Sad I am astonished at the bravery of those members of the public who prevented further bloodshed and put themselves in harms way to do so. My heart also goes out to the police officers who had to make the split second decision to kill the person who looked like they were wearing a bomb to ensure the safety of others. I hope they get all the support they deserve.

Rossetti, I love that song! (Was a ' rat ' fan back in the day. )

Sad day today though. Not sure what can can be done though? To just be going about your business then not be here anymore is awful. It makes me so worried for the future.
